Normal indoor lighting works okay, but the video will be blurry if there's much movement (because the camera has to use a high exposure). If you want to record in the dark it might be better to get a camcorder with a night-vision mode, but I haven't used one of those myself.

Thanks for the review buddy. Apart from the technical detailes explained, i just wanted to check whether the cam was making that annoying comet effect (think is called "motion blur") and apparently this one doesnt. This is not so obvious as other review of the same camera i saw on youtube dont reveal the true capabilities of it. Colors looks good as well.

hi, i just bought this webcam and was quite disappointed until i read this review. I was having problems with the video. It was really slow and lagish. I turned off the automatic red light setting and turned down the exposure a bit. Now the video is really fast. Thanks for posting these reviews!

I'm not sure. Perhaps you have the "Record duration" option set? Try clicking the right arrow on the "Record Video" button to see the options.

The settings need to be tweaked a bit to get it looking good (most importantly turning off the automatic exposure setting). I made a tutorial video that shows how to do it with Windows Movie Maker.

I haven't used the Sphere one so I can't comment directly, but the specification seem almost identical so I imagine that the quality is very similar. I think the extra cost for the Sphere is just for the motorized movement.

I had a look at your "Are You Gunna Be My Girl" video. The quality looks fine to me. That's about as good as it gets on YouTube! If you want to avoid the blurriness when you move your hand up the neck, then you can probably improve that by switching to 640x480 resolution and setting the frame rate to 30 frames to second. Check my video "Tutorial: QuickCam Pro 9000 and Windows Movie Maker" for the details.

FYI... The new Windows Movie Maker for Vista does not record analog video from camcorders or VCRs anymore.

Sorry about that; I wasn't very clear. Have you watched my video "Tutorial: QuickCam Pro 9000 and Windows Movie Maker"? That shows you how to do it in detail (if you're using Windows Movie Maker). Basically you need to look for the advanced camera settings in whatever capture program you're using, but it might be called something different in different programs (for instance in VirtualDub it's called the "Capture Filter").
