I thought Araucana's come in a rumpless and with tail variety. I guess it depends which standards you are looking at. Either way they are a very nice chicken.
@reptodude nope - Easter Eggers are crossbred chickens who may lay colored eggs. Araucanas are a very rare breed with no tail, tufts (not muffs and beard) and ONLY lay blue eggs.
@6327isc NO Ameraucanas aren't a crossbreed and they all lay green or blue colored eggs. These are not araucanas because araucanas are rumpless, these are ameraucanas. Easter eggers are not crossbreeds its just another name for ameraucanas. Do your research.
Bared Rock? LOL. How about BARRED Rock, because it has BARS in it's plumage? But you're correct. Dominiques were used in Barred Plymouth Rock breed development.
I have Barred Rocks and Easter Eggers. And I honestly don't care if my EEs are pure ameracaunas or if my BRs are decendent of Domins. They are awesome chickens and they lay awesome eggs. My EEs lay blue eggs and my BRs lay brown eggs. Everyone here is happy with it so please enjoy the video of the chickens. Thank you.
An ameraucana has been perfected. Like I said earlier, EEs are MUTTS. Mixed breeds, mongrels, what ever the term you want to use - they are a cross between Araucanas/Ameraucanas and ANY OTHER BREED. They are NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT the same!
They can look like anything, and lay any egg color. Unlike ameraucanas - they have a Standard of perfection, and are supposed to lay ONLY blue eggs.
Araucanas are COMPLETELY different from both breeds.
Araucanas and Ameracaunas have a standard of perfection. In the USA, its rumpless/tufts for araucana, muffs/tail for ameraucana - both have to have STANDARDIZED colors. Both have a pea comb, and their own distinct body type.
EasterEggers are MUTTS. They were created by HATCHERIES so they could sell blue egger chickens for big money. They couldnt find enough ameraucana or aruacna stock to have pure; they mixed them with other breeds because the blue egg gene is dominant.
It is physically impossible for a chicken to lay more than one egg a day regularly, it can happen when there is a abnormality in the laying pattern. Chickens lay one egg per 24-25 hour period.
Correctly those are not, collonca or quetro chickens. (Araucana chicken for u).
Colloncas De Artes is the composite breed generated by the crossing of Quetro and Colloncas stocks. In North America, the Colloncas De Artes were refined into heirloom varieties of what we call Araucana.
In the U.K., Quechua De Artes, the composite breed generated by the crossing of Quechua bantams with Quetros were exported to Europe during the Falklands dispute period. As a consequence, much of the western and northern European countries' tinted egg breeds are derived from Chilean Indian stock and as such are probably more correctly defined as CHILEAN Araucanas. (from Chile). ok??
hi im from chile and yes those's are aracana chicks that are from chile in fact yesterday i bought three aracana chicks and a dominique chick please message back if you have anymore imformation about any types of chickens
wheen i was growing up we always called them domineckers not the correct name but thats what we knew them as.Depending on where you were raised I guess.
that isnt a araucana its called americana. araucana are from chilie (your right there) and araucana were brought to north america (i think) and were breed with some other chickens and bam! you got americana. and also dominique is pronounced "dominicker" and trust me on these i know everything about chickens.
I got to go with Old english game bantams (OEGB's) being my favorites. their some of the "prettiest" things ever. look just like Gamefowl and they dont fight. so their pretty much perfect :D.. gotta give it up for Egyptian famyumis though...

These aren't Araucanas - They are Easter Eggers, simple mutts who lay any color of egg. No hatchery sells real Araucanas.

@dumb7890
Yes my father use to raise them in Puerto Rico, they eat a lot though.
iCYBERtron 2 years ago
They do fine here in Louisiana. Shouldn't be a problem in TX, if they have shade and water available, as with any farm bird.
