Endo: I have a strange problem that the timer works without coffee but does not work with. In other words, I have set the two-cup timer for 28 seconds and it shuts off as expected with no coffee in the portafilter but with coffee in the filter it does not shut off. Strange.
The machine does not have a shot timer. It uses a flowmeter to control shot volume. Simply set your machine to give 1.5 oz of espresso in 30 seconds WITH COFFEE (not only water). Or better yet, set it to give 4 oz and cut off the shot manually (when it goes blond).
I just bought this machine and it looks great! However I am having troubles with the initial set up of the machine. Could you post a video on how to make the machine run like this and not stuck on standby. Also I have very hard water would you suggest to use distilled water instead? Thanks
Push on/off for 4 second to turn it on. No distilled water. It has no taste and will rust your machine. Use the reservoir softener or 50/50 tap and RO water.
It's a quick "nutation" tamp, used to distribute the grounds. It's usually done more slowly and with more pressure. It helps a lot to avoid channelling, especially when using smaller diameter baskets like on the Vivaldi.
Thanks. Yes, I got my machine from Cafe Union. One year later and I'm still waiting for them to stock a replacement resevoir filter. After sale support could be better.
Very nice! Do you enjoy your Vivaldi? Thinking of getting one myself. Or maybe a Izzo Alex Duetto, but I think steaming is easier on the mini vivaldi.
The Duetto II has a few advantages over the Vivaldi like the PID and 58mm PF. Still, I don't expect there is a huge difference between the 2 machines. In the end, I just preferred less chrome and went with the Vivaldi.
