i personally like the atb battle system better myself, but this kinda reminds me of the vagrant story battle system it doesn't look bad, and there's more strategy this way
I loved this battle system until the end where it became a dungeon crawl-fest through hordes of creatures. Of course, I find that even more frustrating with random battles *POOF random battle!*.
Personally, the battle systems are what keep me from playing FF VII through to X again. I thought they became very tedious. It might be better if I could use an emulator and do some fast-forwarding, like I did in FF VI. I like the strategy, just not the tedium and "busywork".
dude if they introduce the Gambit Battling System to Final Fantasy 7: Remake.......im gonna cry......they should just enhance the graphics, sound and all!! leave the battling system alone!!!!
I only use gambits for boss battles and really tough enemies, but when I just train and kill monsters, I turn off ALL the gambits and control everyone manually. The gambits are optional after all.
even from the begging the creators said it was to "AID YOU" . in my opinion the gambit system is a very good idea. it needs simplification but its still good :)
I find that most people spite this game because it's, 'Not like the others', or, 'they enjoyed the others more'. God forbid they make games more innovative and interesting to play for different gamers. Games are changing with the times. Get used to the change or don't play; stay in the shell of FF's past battle system, regardless of how many people constantly praise the new ones.
No, actually it does. That's the power of opinion. It wasn't just the style of the game, but also how they executed the story, I had near no moviation to play through.
Personally, I've never cared if a game won a game won an award or not.
For every review that loved it, there's someone who hated it. It's equal say.
Uhhh.....have you played Final Fantasy VIII? It shouldn't even qualify in the numbered FF games.
XII was a fantastic game, but I will go so far as to say that it, as well, shouldn't be a FF game. It should have been a new tactics game (which, technically, it is).
you know how theres a Target Line just to attack and then you have to wait for like 3 seconds and then you attack...is it the same thing in the other Final Fantasy games? because it can get a little bit annoying. PLEASE REPLY IF YOU KNOW! This was my first time playing a Final Fantasy game. :)
Havent' played this game, but am curious about it, because I was told I should like it because I prefer games like Zelda to turn based, I can't stand menus...it's so aggravating...same with RTS games like Red Alert, the action and everything happening is what I love, I figure, why take "turns" that doesn't add strategy, it interupts the flow for me. But I understand many people like it, games like Secret of Mana are my type, the more action and constant movement (less menus) the better.
I played this game, actually I took my PS2 out of my closet to play this game. I rented it, and played it for maybe an hour. Every single time I left the first major town I was attacked by this T-Rex lookin thing that would kill me in two or three hits. The funny thing is, it would bite, I would be about 20 feet away, and it would still hit me. This game was horrible. Hopefully the two systems combined will be better in 13, hopefully
I LOVED the old battle system. It was what made final fantasy, final fantasy for me. This makes it, to me, feel and play like Balduars gate or some such. It's just not the same. The artwork and attention to detail is breathtaking - sure - but it's not Final Fantasy for me.
What's worse is they are never going back to the old, proven, much loved system.
it's called adb not gambit. atb stands for active dimension battle. and even worse, it's going to be in Final Fantasy XIII.
Actually i just read they were going to try and combine the atb (active time battle) system, found in ffIV and ffVII, with the adb system found in ffxii. so i don't kno. maybe it could be interesting.
This battle system sucks, got the game the day it came out played for a few hours then put it back in its case and its been there since. The old battle system was what ff was all about why change it and give it the same name. This is more like a mmorpg then a rpg.
People can stop worrying, cause the new system works SOOOOOO well it is frightening! It's still ATB, except you can move around, and the computer can control the others if you like. FFXII is a winner!
wow this is by far the worst combat in any RPG... I hope Square Enix is happy that they fucked up yet again. Thank you Square for becoming horrible... Should have stopped at FF9
awww pf the kingdom hearts fights are far more intressting and cooler..that's nothing..u know i love final fantasy but why the hell they have such stupid fights

Hope square-enix realised their mistake with the battle system of this game.
Gambit System.
License board.
Ugh, that truly put me off the game.

mistake? THIS GAME WON AWARDS. and the reviewers loved the battle system. just because you don't like it does not make it a mistake.

i very musc so disagree, as a manic rpg gamer (me) final fantasy 8 is just as amazing as any other rpg game.
this game (13) shouldnt be compared to any of the games 9 and under.

I really dislike this new battle system.
I enjoyed the old one.
It was something that made Final Fantasy.
Don't get me wrong, it wasn't the only thing that made FF, but it was unique.
I liked the old battle system.
I hope Square Enix decides to get the old one back.
