Junghans got it right though, they had some clocks with rod chime and cathedral gong hour count. Would love to hear one of those.

This might be a Kienzle clock. I've seen the mechanism photos, and, it seriously looks like a Kienzle clock mechanism.

I kind of like the single rod over the loud hour cord...sometimes the cord doesnt really match up to the beauty of the chimes.

I don't know why they make clocks with beautiful chimes but then with a retarded one-note hour strike! I hate that!!

They "Fixed" that by the 1920's to 1930's with a loud hour chord! :D :D
