it's true, if harry potter was in the old testament, he would have been put to death. Most people would consider killing a good-natured, innocent orphan child a terribly wrong act. The fact that Harry may be a warlock, wiccan, jew, muslim, whatever he may be, should have NO influence on how we determine he is as a decent person, worthy of life and basic human rights.

One of my favorite movies, it's both profoundly interesting and disgusting beyond words. Truly an ambivalent piece of cinema. This bit has always baffled me, she speaks of warlocks as if they were real. So what, a warlock baby adopted by Christians raised to love and believe in God is an enemy of God, simply for being born a warlock? Or is she speaking metaphorically? Furthermore, like David Blaine, Harry Potter is a wizard. Not a warlock.

This was me 15 years ago. Our church was pretty hardcore pentecostal, speaking in tongues and all that jazz. I guess since I was indoctrinated this movie didn't faze me at all. "look what kind of fucked up shit there doing to these kids." To me though its like "oh that's what we did every Sunday... :D"

The quote comes from his speech before arising to power that he made in Munich. In fact he disliked Atheism as he was also quoted as saying.

@currie1967 I agree with you. I don't know if you are saying I'm a fanatic or Hitler was. Me, I'm not a Christian. I left Christianity because the majority of it is based on the fear of hell and the assumption that god is a good, loving, all powerful deity. Reason says that if he is all 3 of those things then evil cannot exist. Evil exists to Christians, therefore he can't be all three. So either he's loving and good but not all powerful, or he's all powerful but not loving and good.

@SeramiNefera Very philosophical way of how you lost your religion, I did not battle with any of the writings in the bible. I was raised in a secular household and went to a CofE school. I realized early on there was no evidence of a God and have been free from this superstition for all my life, the truth that science provides is so much more wonderful than the myths. To see these people infecting politics and holding back science and indoctrinating children terrifies me. We're all Africans!

@currie1967 (2nd) I prefer to believe in a god for personal reasons, however I can't believe him to have created a hell for 'evil people'. I also cannot believe a 'devil' exists. In my eyes, if god exists then perhaps we are his children & for us to grow we need to experience many things. The good and bad of life. However, I am also aware it's possible he doesn't exist. However, I myself can't completely cut myself off from faith in a god. But I did seek him outside of Christianity.
