My WMM will not do the final export to WMV file. It will stop at 50% and say "Windows Movie Maker cannot save the movie to the specified location. Verify that the original source files used in your movie are still available , that the saving location is still available, and that there is enough free disk space available, and then try again."

@krissuR8 Movie Maker is slow for everyone, If you have a min of 1gb memory than it should run ok but not great, I know once you get over 10 or 15 minutes of footage it will run real slow, and also it stores all of your editing so it can go back, so if you save your project often and reopen it, that may help speed it up.

@renyosuke When you create a title or credit, it should create a file in the collection, you might have to drag it down to where you want it on the timeline.

I just posted a second ago but above(if it's okay w/ the original poster or just go to MY channel) is a little music video I made w/ wmm the videos a tad behind the audio.I've learn to fix that now too..it's just trial and error,along with a terpermental program,that you DON"T have to handle w/ "kidgloves"..You just have to figure out when each step can be executed.for example .time & cut everthing first .then plact in alternate pics .AND ALWAYS do captions and ALL type overlays LAST

@pieman641 it sure should not have screwed it up, you must have done something wrong, you should be able to restore your pc to an earlier time and it should go back to what it was, or reinstall this again and leave all things default and don't change any settings.

ac3-filter should have helped your audio problem. it is in the video description of my video (Movie maker fix) it sounds like it could also be a lack of memory or to many programs running while your using movie maker.

Hello...I been using Windows Movie Maker for a while now. Heres my problem hopefully someone out there knows the answer. After Publishing the Movie.. The Clips can Run fine but some clips in the Film Turns black and come back with another Clip. I Tried remove it from the Timeline and Replace it back on the Timeline, but still no Effects. I would have to say that you are missing a codec needed to play one or more of your files used in the video.
I could only guess at which one, (k-lite) is a pretty good program to try, just take the check mark off the option to install the old version of media player.
I appreciate all your tips and comments concerning WMM. You have the best solutions. I followed all your suggestions; however, the only way I could get WMM not to show show debug error notification was to remove IE 8 and go back to IE 6. WMM now works fine.

Event Viewer, may help tell you why it is freezing, or you could check your pagefile (virtual memory) I made a video for both subjects. also try using one file over and over to rule out a file issue. and see how big you can get the project before it stalls out.
I don't know if this was actually answered in this video, but I was wondering, why my movie maker will allow me to do everything all the up until I try to save the file as a movie? It would save some of it until 53% or so and just shut down my computer. I mean completely shut it down and I have to turn it back on. It didn't start happening like this until I installed my Flip cam software onto it. So, could the FlipShare stuff be the problem or what?
your first video really helped. i even made a project with no problem. few weeks later i tried to make another one and everything was going fine but when i tried to play the video it starts fine then it stalls and the video keeps playing without the sound file the video stops and my cpu light starts flickering. i checked the task manager and MM is using 99 pct of the cpu. i tried reinstalling MM like in ur 2nd vid and i tried the DLL file thing but nothing works is there anything else i can do?
Hey can you help me? This is what happens, when ever I try to save a project that I'm working on it brings up a box saying what do you want to name the file as, i type the name that i want it to be called, hit save or press enter and the box disappears and it looks fine but whenever i try to click on something nothing happens then a couple seconds later it says that its not responding. It didn't do this until I installed Total Video Converter. Samething happens when i try to open a project.HELP!
That is most likely something to do with the files you are using and the filters that are turned on or off in wmm. try turning off all filters or turning them back on one at a time.
thank you but well, I already tried that and it didn't work. I actually tried it multiple times and it didn't work. i'm not trying to save the file as a .wmm file yet. I'm trying to save it as a .MSWMM file so I can go back and work on it.
right click on the system bar at the bottom of your desktop and choose task manager, go into the process tab and look for moviemk, right click on that and end process.
DEBUG, error rpt started when I upgraded to Explorer Version 8. I tried downloading SP2 and SP3; however, it sends my computer into Safe Mode. I then have to restore my computer.

Sounds like you may need to update your video driver. also I made a video called (movie maker fix) that has a few downloads in the side bar that have helped me with those kind of anomalies.

Under tools > options > you'll see a check box for download codecs automatically, you will want to check that. mpeg4 needs a certain filter or codec to work. It's hard to say exactly which one.

Hey, do you know how to fix this problem. When i go to save the file it says insignificant memory (i know i spelt wrong), so i thought it was just saying that for no reason. When i try to save it to my computer, down at the "Finish Movie" section. it'll stay at 0% then after about a hour it'll give me some crazy remaining time like 82million minutes till its finished saving to my computer.

You could be missing the codec or filter you need completely. If you are using MP3's than it is hard to find the right combination.

but anyway if you are crashing when you try to import.
try different files, wmm is very picky about what type of files it will accept.

When I went to register the dll files, these dll files weren't registered:
WMM2ERES.dll
WMM2EXT.dll
WMM2RES2.dll
WMM2RES.dll
And I get error messages saying:
" Selected file is not a valid ActiveX!"

It was most likely IE7 that first caused it, you should be able to reinstall IE8 and it should work fine now.

I don't know if this was actually answered in this video, but I was wondering, why my movie maker will allow me to do everything all the up until I try to save the file as a movie? It would save some of it until 53% or so and just shut down my computer. I mean completely shut it down and I have to turn it back on. It didn't start happening like this until I installed my Flip cam software onto it. So, could the FlipShare stuff be the problem or what?

your first video really helped. i even made a project with no problem. few weeks later i tried to make another one and everything was going fine but when i tried to play the video it starts fine then it stalls and the video keeps playing without the sound file the video stops and my cpu light starts flickering. i checked the task manager and MM is using 99 pct of the cpu. i tried reinstalling MM like in ur 2nd vid and i tried the DLL file thing but nothing works is there anything else i can do?

Most likely you are using a bad file or wmm cant read it properly, try the filters.

Hey can you help me? This is what happens, when ever I try to save a project that I'm working on it brings up a box saying what do you want to name the file as, i type the name that i want it to be called, hit save or press enter and the box disappears and it looks fine but whenever i try to click on something nothing happens then a couple seconds later it says that its not responding. It didn't do this until I installed Total Video Converter. Samething happens when i try to open a project.HELP!

That is most likely something to do with the files you are using and the filters that are turned on or off in wmm. try turning off all filters or turning them back on one at a time.

thank you but well, I already tried that and it didn't work. I actually tried it multiple times and it didn't work. i'm not trying to save the file as a .wmm file yet. I'm trying to save it as a .MSWMM file so I can go back and work on it.

right click on the system bar at the bottom of your desktop and choose task manager, go into the process tab and look for moviemk, right click on that and end process.
CTRL+ALT+DEL will also bring up task manager

Youtube will only accept certain types of video files, make sure you save it as a WMV for best viewing.

could be your internet connection getting bogged down or to slow or you are uploading the wrong type of file or it is to large.

DEBUG, error rpt started when I upgraded to Explorer Version 8. I tried downloading SP2 and SP3; however, it sends my computer into Safe Mode. I then have to restore my computer.

Look for a file named (qedit.dll) if you find it delete it
I also made a wmm video dealing with (Event Viewer) which may help track down why it is crashing

I want to thank you what I di helped out wmm but know I have another problem,
I went on safe mode and deleted qedit.dll but know when I get on wmm it won't play anything! for a video I click play but nothing happens, also the words on the vewing screen are twiching

Sounds like you may need to update your video driver. also I made a video called (movie maker fix) that has a few downloads in the side bar that have helped me with those kind of anomalies.

Check your files to make sure they are all good and then check your pagefile or virtual memory, you should also have a min of 512MB to run wmm,

The problem with my windows movie maker is everytime I try to make a video pass 6:50 the video clip doesn't show.
Also when I publish the movie nothing comes up but the subtitles and the music.

i went to tools > options > and check the download codec box but it still doesn't import my vids. it says restart my movie maker and i did but it still wont work.

Where it asks for a reg code you will see where it says to activate now go to that site and on the right you will see where to activate.

ok , i need help, ok i finished this video, and tryed to save it to the computer, the movie is 5:20 and i got lots of space on the computer. When i save it to the computer , the beginning it is very slow , and then it goes from 6% to 100% really fast, when i view it from 6% to 100% i get a huge black screen what do i do?

Under tools > options > you'll see a check box for download codecs automatically, you will want to check that. mpeg4 needs a certain filter or codec to work. It's hard to say exactly which one.

right click on your system tool bar at the bottom of your pc desktop. between the start and the clock.
choose task manager
click on process tab
find moviemk.exe and end the process.

movie maker does not crash on everyone, it is just touchy about other software that gets installed, like other burning programs and dvd players,

at 8:12 i hear your iphone get a text message and this didnt help me when i try and import the video it says:
The file c:\Users\Anthony Coad\Documents\The Folder\1242341235.mov cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.

Sometimes installing the latest version of windows media player 11 will give you the codecs you need. or you might have to adjust the filters in wmm.

Hey, do you know how to fix this problem. When i go to save the file it says insignificant memory (i know i spelt wrong), so i thought it was just saying that for no reason. When i try to save it to my computer, down at the "Finish Movie" section. it'll stay at 0% then after about a hour it'll give me some crazy remaining time like 82million minutes till its finished saving to my computer.
