  • Had it on the dyno yet?

  • It's pretty cool to see the engine at work with the valve covers off.. First I've seen that on YouTube.

  • Is that a stock tune?

  • badass car. i love the tailights. cam sounds mean

  • sounds great man

  • HOW MUCH DID THAT COST YOU did you buy it at a dealer ship or private owner

  • where at in MI?

    nice car man

  • MIchigan?

    Ha

    I Live In Michigan.

    Nice Car BTW.

  • What Strut tower brace is that? I love it!

  • @jsv87 I think it is a G2. been a long time since i installed that - i blasted it and painted it to match the car so the label is long gone.

  • Was that run untuned?

  • @slim8685

    the 12.96 run?

  • Sorry for not being clear, I meant the engine run which you took of in the video.

I just finished my CC503 build, DIY ported 374 casts and full bolt ons, but it won't idle over 500RPM, stock stall too.

Its untuned, just wanted to know I don't have anything wrong.

  • @slim8685 yes it was untuned in this video but i lowered the idle from 800 to 650. Other than that nothing was changed here. The only other thing i did was milled the heads for added compression (11.4:1)

  • I started it up again today, let it warm up a bit, drained the oil and put in fresh 20w50 and voila, it was running smooth at 750, loping well.

I milled my heads, but nothing much, just a clean up and got them surfaced flat, also a fresh valve job.

    What did your dyno at?

  • what cam do you have in that? we got a 96 impala that would be sick to have sounding like that, check my videos we have a sick k&n fipk sounds like an air compressor sucking air in

  • @gotspeed1212 - its an advanced induction 226/234 cam

  • face_palm.jpg lol

  • how can you run the engine with out the valve covers? I always thought they had to be there, since thats were you add oil, right? Ive had one vehicle, an 85 blazer with the 350 crate motor. im a little inexperienced, so dont flame me too bad if i sound like a tool lol

  • oil is pumped upward by the hydraulic lifters through the pushrods, onto the valvetrain components you can see in the video. When the engine is idling, the oil will just slowly bleed out from the pushrods onto the rockers etc. When you rev it though, it does more than just bleed. I definitely had some oil to clean up on the driver side of my engine bay, fender, etc, after I revved it up in this video. What i did here didnt hurt anything, but you def wouldnt want to drive a car around like that.

  • hahah okay, i gotcha, that makes sense! I was just like whoah...how the heck?? lol thats a bad bad car though man :)

  • haha yea, thanks man!

  • damn man that's a nice ass car dude have you dynoed it yet and what kind of Exhaust have you put on it?

  • havent dyno'd it. Just ran a high 12 with it at the track though... but ive got a bucket of excuses haha. I put 3" duals on it, check my other videos.

  • well ide hope you get some Dyno #'s dude that's a nice car man

  • thank you!

  • how did you get 11.5:1 CR?(thinner head gasket like an impala SS head gasket or something?)

  • yes, impala head gaskets and i also decked the heads .020

  • as sweet.....get that thing dynoed soon OK :)

  • No I Just goy a LT1 Edit i put down 596Rwhp 597 Tq Just to find out on the dyno I Just put in 62lb Injectors and i maxed my fuel pump out know im still buildin power at 7600RPM Jus sent Dyno to Advanced Induction They luv it and they said cant wait to see it on the track.

  • sounds badass man, did you ever decide on a true dual setup

  • yea i am hopefully going to get it done this summer yet. been busy with school and trying to pay some debt off. I will be doing 3" duals with an h-pipe and the delta flows youve got.

  • Very nice bro.

  • Is it safe to run open Y pipe all the time? Any low end power loss?

  • Safe to do that yes, but im not driving it around that way....waaaay too loud. I sold my exhaust last fall and the car hasnt left the driveway (garage) since. Its still waiting for me to scrape up the money for a new exhaust, just have had other priorities lately.

  • Very nice I got my idle set at 950. How do you keep your car idle at 650 when your driving doesnt it want to boag out and die when coming to a stop. That how mine is check it out i have very similiar cam to the 226 234.

  • it has a bit of a personality but i enjoy it. ive never had a problem with it dying though, if it does its my fault. Somethings wrong in your tune if its doing that.

  • nice vid, great looking LT1! did you buy the entire A.I. kit or just the cam alone?

  • yea i bought the complete A.I. kit. seemed like a good deal to me.

  • how much did you end up spending? i was thinking about having my heads done by them. what all did you have ai do?

  • ha i found your car finally fucker.

This car sounds so god damn wicked.

  • lol i wasnt hiding it...

  • How did you make your cam sound so insanely big.

  • its a 650 desired idle so it idles between 650 and 700. This AI cam really chops down low but smooths out VERY well by about 1200 RPM.

  • KICK ASS CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thanks!

  • NOTHING MENT BY LAST COMMENT

  • Im contemplating this cam for my setup. How do you like it, any numbers?

  • it isnt tuned yet and wont be until probably end of may/june. I'll definitely get some 1/4 mile times and vids up once I get the tune close enough.

  • With that lwo of an idle speed. is it hurting for oil at that point until rpms rise?

  • No it maintains a good 20 psi. I changed the relief spring in my oil pump though so i have more oil pressure than stock. it jumps up to 50-60 psi pretty quick.

  • actually if you look at the gauge you can see it was holding 40psi at that RPM (cold motor) and it spiked to nearly 80 when i revved it.

  • You said you want an idle of 650...Well my '70 Chevy truck I've been working on now has an idle of 500-600rpm...It sounds good with the three inch pipe and flowmasters...I just wanted you to know.

  • what other stuff do you have done to it this is exactly what i want my T/A to sound like

  • Comment removed

  • the video description is pretty much the extent of my setup. The exhaust is full length pacesetter headers and an open 2.5" mandrel bent y-pipe. When its open, it kinda sounds like duals. Im changing to a true dual setup in the spring and its gonna sound even better ;)

  • I love the sound of it..you should run duals sometime...It would be an awesome sound!

  • im building a true dual setup in the spring - thats why it doesnt have an exhaust in this video :)

  • It sounds great now! I can't wait to hear it when you get the duals on it!

  • that is the same cam i want the 226 advanced induction, how would this be in a daily driver? and the car sounds awesome

  • The power curve is very friendly, it almost sounds stock above idle. the only issue I have right now is weak vacuum. Brakes are harder to press and my HVAC controls dont work anymore. However, i might be able to fix that with tuning... and if not a vacuum can.

  • Is the desired idle set @ 650? Sounds good. I'm having mine turned down to 700 rpm, do you think that's low enough that the engine will die while idling??

  • yea my desired idle is 650.

  • Does it have problems staying running when it's cold from the 650 desired idle?

  • nope. its not tuned either.

  • So your car is an automatic?

  • No its a stick. The desired idle is the only thing I had changed in the tune, and i did that long before the cam swap.

  • Ok, i noticed this when i looked at your other vid.

  • Wow, GREAT sound Camaro! I hope my 79 Will sound something like this some day haha

  • Awesome man best sound in the world! What did you do to give it 11.5-1? I think those engines were 10.5-1 stock right? Check out my Chevelle if you get a chance.

  • iron block impala head gaskets (thinner compressed thickness) and i milled the heads .020. Its probably more like 11.4:1.

  • Is this stock c.i.?

  • yep, stock bottom

  • what setup you running, idle rpm, get more vids up everyone is interested!!!!!!!!!!

  • idle is set at 650 but it floats between that and 700.

  • I can't wait to install that in my car!

  • How did it not sling oil EVERYWHERE when you revved it without the valve covers on?!

    Sounds good. :)

  • it did haha, but it was already a mess so i didnt really care. it wipes off.
