  • Lovely! I've always been fond of the Lake Version of Gravity because it's calmer and gentler than the original.

  • I saw her perform several years ago in Raleigh, and she played this song. I'd never heard this version before, but Gravity is and always will be my ultimate favorite song. This is just gorgeous.

  • i like her , nice song.

  • If you like Vienna Teng, you should check this video:

Vienna Teng debut in a brand-new series, Dubway Days.

  • omg she is so good!!! I'm crying!

  • its sooooooo fuckin great !!!!!

  • ten times better than yiruma

  • WOW AWESOME *O* (L)

  • why's it called the lake version?

  • Because it's so calm and serene. The album Gravity has been known as the River version. Here's a thread discussing this on Vienna's forum: viennateng com / forum / viewtopic php ? t = 1978 (add dots before "com" and "php" and close up the spaces)

  • thanks! :)

  • OMFG What an awesome song (^_^)

  • wonderful <3

does someone know where I can get sheets from "Lullaby For A Stormy Night"?

please contact me!!! Vienna, you're awesomne!

  • She used to sell Lullaby as a single sheet, but I don't see that anymore. You can still buy the Waking Hour songbook, which includes Lullaby, on her website under Merch.

  • Yeah I know...but I don't want to have the whole songbook :D I just startet playing two weeks ago and I'm not very good...

But thank you ^^ I'll have a look on her website

  • you can find the sheet music for this lake version (and the other version and many more) at pianofiles(dot)com. You'll need a free account just so you won't have to enter your email every time you request a sheet.. and it might take some time for users to send you those sheets.. u should therefore ask more than one person for the same thing just in case. If you want you can send me your email I'll send it to you.

  • @FanpireBellaEdward You can find reasonably accurate chords online, it wouldn't be too much a stretch to place them and do what Jazz musicians always say..."fake it 'till you make it" :) it's got some sharps tossed in I remember, there's a D# in there that (at least when I'm playing it on guitar) "feels" strange...works in the song, but where she places it is just kind of unique.

  • yeah, maybe you're right! I have to take some more time to look everything up, but at the moment I'm very busy and worried :) but thx for the tipp!

  • wait sorry.. the sheet i have is for this song, Gravity.. not Lullaby for a stormy night, though I think the site has it too...

  • I love this singer. She has such a talent for lyrics, and she's just amazing in general.

  • what a coincidence!! i'm half asian and born on 3rd october as well !!! plus i'm skinny too

i repent why i never knew her before now

  • so amazing. i can't even describe it.

  • I love this artist. True raw talent...amazing. Just amazing.

  • she is amazing. all my respect

  • beautiful~ love vienna teng~

  • so.... wonderfull...

  • I can only find it in myself to defend my fellow Asians as well as this incredible artist, Vienna Teng. I think your lewd remarks are best kept to yourself. thank you

  • Grammar Nazi mode:

It's "I'm sure she is good at math." not maths. It's never spelled with an "s" at the end.

    And it's "it don't mean a thing" not "think" with a "k."

I'd take you seriously but you can't even spell right.

And mind you, the best Jazz dancer in the world based in Chicago is a Filipino (Asian) and the best and hiphop/breakdancers are from the Philippines, Korea and other places in Asia.

Lemme talk to you in slang:

You the one who ain't got no rhythm, homie.

  • there is no such thing as the best jazz dancer in the world. the best hip hop dancers are in the US. They are NOT asian.

  • I'd ask you to look up the World Hip-Hop championships and tell me they're not from Asia. And although the best crew isn't always from Asia, rarely is it ever from the US. I remember the ones who beat the Philippines were from the UK. So no, they're not from the US either. Do your research first before commenting

  • Many Filipinos do *not* self-identify as Asian.

  • Actually, the whole Fil arguement is beside the point here with the whole "Asian dancers are some of the best" arguement. I wasn't being specific.

But yeah, just because they don't self-identify doesn't mean they aren't Asian. Also, it can be equally said that there are just as many (or maybe even more) Filipinos who do self-identify as Asians.

Back to the Asian arguement, most renowned dance crews happily state they're Asian (or part). Like Jabba, Kabba, the All-Stars and many others

  • Actually Koreans and FIlipinos are probably the best hip hop dancers because it's so much more...accepted and popularized there. And they work harder than us lazy ass americans. Notice the "us". I am a caucasion american and I do agree--we are lazy mofos. >_> look at our rising obesity count, especially in children,

  • so true, in vacation I went to Florida (I live in Colombia) and I could notice that americans are so fucking fat... great obesity problem you have o.O, while in Colombia we are so damn thin hehe

  • though I agree, obesity is rising worldwide because of food processing and gene engineered food,

  • Maths is a British colloquialism, and is almost always spelt with an 's'. It's an abbreviation for 'mathematics'.

Regarding your second statement - unless they're lyrics I think you mean "it doesn't mean a thing" not "it do not mean a thing".

And finally, 'best' is subjective... it doesn't make what you're saying true.

  • points taken.:)

    1) Was reading through type racer stuff and came across the use of "Maths". Not really familiar with the British colloquialism so I stand corrected there

    2) Did I misspell something? I can't find my post anymore. Sorry about that then

    3) True. "Best" is subjective. Accolades give us a certain measurement of skill though.

Funny how from a discussion about Vienna this ended up in so many other things.

    So back to topic:

I just don't appreciate lewd bigotry.

  • I love this song. This version seems striped down though but is still great.

  • i love this song ! i like viena teng ! you're a great pianist. how i wish i can play piano the same as yours.

    prettwoman11

  • Great song. I'm finally going to see her perform next month at Yoshi's and I'm really looking forward to it. Thank you for uploading this, Klaorman!

  • luvs

  • I don't see why you feel compelled to post this.

  • Thankyou soooo much for posting this!! You're so lucky to have seen her live! I live in Australia and I would die for the opportunity to see this kind of talent live before me.

And I think her voice is rich with emotion and the fact that she writes all her own songs and composes them only adds to her amazing talent!

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs I've heard. It really has an emotional impact. I love it.

  • I like ,her voice,so beartiful.

  • Im not telling she have a bad voice, no, I love her songs and like her voice. Im just telling she have quiet, not so strong voice. Mainly in hight positions. But, just my appinien :-)

  • i think her voice is unique and beautiful gosh i'm really going to practice piano now hehe i've been abandoning it and this song is just too beautiful to not learn.

  • To the person that said she has a weak voice: please don't judge her based on a non-professional video (prob recorded the sound from whatever mic the camera had).

See her LIVE and then decide. There is no substitute for seeing Vienna live. She is AMAZING.

  • Yes, I was just using the mic on my camcorder. And yes, her voice is amazing live. And I'm lucky enough to see her again this Saturday, 12/13! I'm not sure if I'll be able to bring my camcorder or camera this time, though, since the Palace of Fine Arts will likely restrict recording. I'll try, though!

  • @mes700 god I wish I could see her live, I have faith that she has a even more beautiful voice then on cd :) I love her music so much

  • Heavenly... full of emotions, full of devotion, full of hope.... I love you Vienna, love your songs..

  • I love this song!

  • Wow.

  • i disagree. her voice fits her. but its certainly not weak.

  • ?

What do you mean by that? she certainly doesn't have a weak voice - She actually has a very strong one...

Of course this is your opinion but still I can't cope with what you said. Maybe you should spend some time listening before judging (in my opinion) that wrongly.

Saying Vienna had a weak voice is like saying green was red to me.

  • I think you should listen to her other music before totally writing her off.

  • Have you heard any of her other songs because I think she is incredible. Because she is live her voice sounds a bit weak to you. And the voice for this song is suppose to be a little soft and gentle.. sorry but i disagree

  • fuck!, it really touched me.

  • wow first time i hear this. the song is so beautiful!

  • awesome possum =P

  • i normally find it annoying when someone sighs a lot while sighing, but for her it makes it even more intense! I wish I could learn this on the piano... I know the first part of the original song ^_^

  • yep. i think i've fallen inlove. mhm.

  • always makes me cry..

  • really good

  • i love her.

  • How about we keep Twilight and Vienna far, far away from each other, for the sake of all that is good in the world.

    Kthx.

  • why"?

  • Agreed. I can't believe my favorite piano piece is on that soundtrack. (River Flows In You)

Let's not put another piece I'm in love with on that soundtrack.

  • I love this song and specifically this version. I want to hear her in concert!

  • I wish I practiced piano more now.

    This is nice

  • saw them at wolfsburg, germany. amazing!

  • vienna is really good +2

  • this song si so magic and i love her in a minut that i heard the firts sounds of the piano

  • Vienna Teng is a goddess

  • such elligent voice

  • i agree

  • wow i heard the amv first and did not know she was asian XD

  • Wauww

  • I crieeeeeed...

  • Beautiful.... I love this song....

  • Beautiful...theres no other way to say this. Her voice is so pure.

  • Wow, this version is breathtaking..along with anything else she sings/plays. I want to see her live =(.

  • omg me too, i like her better live than on the albums~

  • @newday38

I agree, but I still think that the album version has more musical structure.

You should check out her youtube channel she talks about it more there

  • has anyone noticed she's gotten slimmer?

  • Such a purrty song, (:

She sings veryyy awesome live, *wants to see her*

    (:

  • I love her songs, they are so dreamy

  • I think it's the bench, surely she didn't fart THAT loudly and then keep going without a reaction.

  • yeah, definitely the bench! lol wow..

  • It was an audience noise. (I know, I was there.)

Keep in mind that this recording was taken from the audience, so any loud noise you hear is probably from them.

  • What a dumb ass, the mic is in front of her lips. I don't think farting would cause that kind of loud noise. Go take some medicine for your brain malfunction. Oh maybe your farts are loud.....

  • Are you from Antarctica?

  • i love Vienna Teng. When is she going to the Philippines?

  • Um maybe it's just me but I'm pretty sure that noise everyone is talking about was a sour note she hit on the black keys G flat or something but it wasn't "her".

I think, cuz really that's what I heard when I listened to it. But anyone's elses guess is as good as mine.

    She's amazing though!

  • Uhh, definately the piano bench. There's no way she farted THAT loud

  • why she reminds me of Missy Higgins.. will be beyond me. but i love Gravity, and this version is just as beautiful.

  • I got a chance to see Vivian recently because she opened up for India Arie. To my surprise this young lady and the two people who accompanied her were AWESOME! I had never heard of her prior to this event, but I will never miss her when she returns again in concert regardless of whom she's with. What a great performance!

  • her name's Vienna ^_^

  • I don't know why I keep calling her "Vivian" so I apologize if I offended anyone for the name change. I will keep repeating Vienna over and over again just for you. Vienna, Vienna, Vienna is AWESOME!....THAT WAS MY POINT.

  • Hehehe, she IS awesome! Don't worry, I wasn't offended or anything. ^_^

  • I think it's either a protest against the price of fresh fruit or a symbolic statement that the odd anal noise does not have the same gravity as a broken relationship.

  • lol....i heard the fart lol..

  • I Love Vienna Teng, but I need to say, did she fart? If you listen between 1min 15secs to 1min 30secs you can hear it..

Love this song too shame about the wind....

  • these are some possibilities:

    1) the piano bench

    2) someone from the crowd

    3) that's really her!

but still, even if she farted, she hid it well. she didn't crack a smile or anything. Keep up the good work Vienna Teng!

  • it was the bench.

trust me, if you play piano, and you use a wooden bench, whenever you move around it makes it that sound. It's not really a big deal, i don't know why everyone's talking about it

    0.o

  • She's sitting on one of those leather benches actually. But, yeah, it's the bench that made the noise. My piano teacher used to have one like that and whenever you moved the leather would make that sound.

  • Actually on second listen, I think she just played a wrong note and the reverberation from that, or it came from the audience. But really, why am I even trying to dissect something like this; we should just enjoy the beautiful song.

  • i love this songg....but idont quite understand it

  • I think it's about a relationship on the rocks. She's confused as to whether or not she should stay in the relationship (bridge: this is the same place, no not the same place). And she's saying to not go, because she's changing and is willing to make it work (So don't turn away now, I am turning in revolution). But the song makes it sound like she does end up choosing to stay in the relationship ("I obey your law of gravity").

  • i saw vienna perform at UT in Austin,tx.... i was gonna ask her to marry me...

  • Sorry to break it to you: She's married.

  • Married?? No! But she does have a boyfriend.

  • o.O who is it?

  • Well wouldn't you like to know?!

...I mean, did I say she has a boyfriend? No, no, I was mistaken! No boyfriend here. Move along! Nothing to see! ;-)

  • i want to flag this song as inappropriate for it is inappropriate for graceful angles to sing to unworthly mortals

  • jag älskar henne<3

  • Hey, I love her too! :-)

  • haha, my family now hates this song because I play it so often. XD Nah, I'm sure they don't hate it, but they've sure gotten tired of it! BUT I LOVE IT SO MUCH I CAN'T HELP IT.

  • absolutely stunning! this is my favorite song of all of them.

i hope i get to see her in concert one day.

  • just beautiful!

  • Beautiful!

Berlin, October 14th. I'll be there!

She'll better have security, because I can't guarantee not to abduct her. ;-)

  • I love Vienna. ^^ This was the first song I heard by her. Not this version but still.

  • beautiful

im not sure what version of this i love more...

    *shrugs*

    <33

  • Her just-released live concert DVD has THE definitive version of Gravity Lake! The sound is just absolutely pure and clean, with a big vocal and a beautiful piano. Go to the Merch section on Vienna's site and order it now! :-)

  • i love this song, thanx for upload

  • When we heard this live, it almost my made my mom cry..Gravity is by far my most favorite song by her, and this is just stunning.

  • Wow this is awsome!

  • i love this song... one of my favorites of all time.

  • Breathtaking!!!<3

  • Had never heard of her before and I was watching the show DEADLIST CATCH and they had her singing asong and I found out what the song ws at the end during the credits. I love to listen to her sing and play could sit here all night and just listen and chill out so mellow and sweet

  • is there anyway you can get the "lake version" on audio, or is it only video? i love this song! thanks for posting it up!

  • Ask and you shall receive! v1. viennateng. com / etcetera / songscraps / gravity_lake.mp3

  • wow! thanx!

  • You're welcome! You should also check out songscraps (v1. viennateng. com / etcetera / songscraps /, click on the seats) for other interesting audio bits and lyrics, and/or explore the rest of the old site.

  • im in love. great musician

  • So soulful & beautiful; this is one of my favorite songs of all time.

  • Great! I love this song! thank you.

  • Thanks a lot for uploading this. Waking Hour is my favourite album... and Gravity and The Tower are just so heart-breakingly beautiful.

  • beautiful

  • wow! who is this? first time hearing the song, but i was drawn! =) she reminds me of tori amos, i wonder if tori has any influence on her. =)

  • I'm pretty sure Vienna said somewhere that she's been heavily influenced by Tori Amos...

If you like this song, make sure to check out her albums. They're all worth listening to. And no, I'm not getting paid to say this *lol*

  • are you sure you dont have any cut? j/k

    Thanks=)

  • She's so awsome. she reminds me of the Asian Doctor in Grey's Anatomy. I idolize her so much!!! gotta luv the lyrics.

  • wonderful. my fave song of hers. and i didn't know the lake version. great work!

  • awesome beutiful voice. gotta catch a gig of hers.

  • Wow. That was beyond what words could describe. Beautiful.

  • This version is definately growing on me. And whatever the Philly version is, I want to hear it and see it.

  • shes better with long hair what with the short hair !!urgh..

  • Something about this song is just so appealing, it's wonderful.

  • I love the changes she made from the recording. Thanks for uploading! Vienna Teng rocks, and that's the understatement of the millennium. ^_^

  • *twitches* must find that song as sheet music.... and learn to play it.... *twitches*

  • It's note for note accurate, too; it sounds great!

  • lol! I love how you *twitched, hope you're okay ^^ Yep, she's great...

  • I'm partial to the River version myself, but I might be biased from having just finished learning how to play it on the piano (from the sheet music on her website). There is a certain calm and peace about the Lake version that is appealing as well, though.

    ~ Ferrard

  • The person who transcribed River has just released the sheet music for Lake! Here's the forum thread: viennateng dot com / forum / viewtopic dot php?t=1980

  • Awesome! Thanks for the heads up - I suppose I should start lurking the Forums =D

    ~ Ferrard

  • I'm surprised more people don't cruise the forums of artists that they like. You learn more about them, meet other crazy fans, and get occasional freebies like sheet music! :D

  • I prefer this version, too. Thanks for watching.
