the zone filled with undead is icecrown the point is theres lots of races living north that are or are being corrupted by teh scourge trolls, nerubians animals all sorts and it snowier the further north you go :p

well if you try to be realistic borean tundra, and howling fjord are the most southern points in northrend. If you take equator facts into effect, it could be that they are close enough to the equator to be warm places.. but hey, it's azeroth and northrend, it's not earth :3 (still, kinda makes sense)
