  • the bump map is the type of map you make to then bake a normal map from its' properties. You make a black and white bump map -> then plug that into the bump channel -> render normal map from that. Whether you are using Maya, 3DS Max, nDo, xNormal, CrazyBump, they all work the same, just some are better than others, obviously.

  • so, it's bump mapping with self shadowing and a good shading technique?

  • @crativ3 its not bump mapping normal mapping != bump maping

  • obviously the one with more polys looks better, but not by much. To a normal viewer's eye, they would look exactly the same.

  • wow everyone knows that...

  • was this done in your modeling program? Or did you use something like crazybump? I know the sphere was done in a modeling program.
