the bump map is the type of map you make to then bake a normal map from its' properties. You make a black and white bump map -> then plug that into the bump channel -> render normal map from that. Whether you are using Maya, 3DS Max, nDo, xNormal, CrazyBump, they all work the same, just some are better than others, obviously.
Got ma 3d model ready but not sure where to start from, I want to apply texture, normal map, opacity, specular and diffuse map, can any one please tell me what should be applied first? does normal comes first or the texturing n other maps?, I have finished unwrapping my model.

obviously the one with more polys looks better, but not by much. To a normal viewer's eye, they would look exactly the same.

was this done in your modeling program? Or did you use something like crazybump? I know the sphere was done in a modeling program.
