  • a little mutual respect? the two companies are both fantastic boeing as airbus and if not check it yourselves find here video - 380 commercial plane most large - and read the comment of who uploaded it

  • The A380 vs. 747 wars remind me of Justin Bieber, whom I CAN'T STAND. Both are epic planes, thumbs up if you agree, or give me a reply :3

  • @xXShadowLugiaXx Well said

  • Isnt this the 747-8 freighter version? cause I think the actual 747-8 passenger version looks even better and more like the 747-400 just a bit longer

  • For pure looks, 747-8 = Jessica Alba, A380 = Lisa Lampenelli

  • All of these silly Boeing vs Airbus comments are pointless. Can't anyone admit that both companies make great products and that the competition to innovate between the two of them is healthy for the aerospace industry?

It's like photographers making the Canon vs Nikon argument ... I don;t think either company would be innovating at the current rate if the other did not exist.

  • @AllenRockwell Leave it to the fan boys to argue lol.

  • I don't know why airbus build such a huge airplane (A380) that only a few airports around the globe can accomodate the plane. Boeing 747-8 GE engines and 787-8 Rolls Royce engines are the most efficient planes the world ever seen..

  • 747-8 is a cheap and boring replacement for the classic 747-400 series in my mind's eye. Boeing did not want to invest in an all new 747 replacement as it was seen too risky a business venture. I applaud Airbus once again for taking the risk and pushing the envelope in terms of innovation and design. I think Airbus have pushed aviation 20 years into the future whereas Boeing is still tinkering with a 1960's old rusted antique 747 design.

  • @fachy1981 You can't talk crap about the Legendary 747! All airports around the world still use this "OLD RUSTED ANTIQUE DESIGN" because it's very efficient and still usable for commercial service. Oh! so what if Airbus is pushing the envelope, I've seen better looking planes than that ugly fat ass A380! That 747 is an ICON and it always will be!

  • @platinum476 Boeing is now 10 years behind Airbus. Airlines that use the 747-400 will be looking to upgrade in the near future and it seems that A380 is the more popular choice. Airlines don't just want another 747 derivative. They want a completely new airliner.

Now with the delays of 787, it seems A350 will enter the market 2-3 years after 787 which should make for an interesting market. A350 can also take advantage of building second making A350 with slightly better technologies than 787.

  • @fachy1981 Ahh not worry! Boeing will make a comeback, they always do! Remember Boeing has been in the game for 84 years coming up with better ideas for the future of air travel and my friend their doing very well like always, now that the 747-8 is using GE's new engine the GEnx-2b! And that is exactly what Boeing is doing making a completely new airliner!

  • @platinum476 Indeed Boeing has 84 years of selling aircraft, but the problem is will they succeed to sell enough 747 for breaking even. Most of the airlines comment for 747 space issues while A380 provide more space and configuration. Furthermore airlines which operate A380 do have huge profit during snowstorm because they are operate under full capacity.

  • this Boeing 747-8 is in PMDG colors

  • whuuuuu can't wait until it goes to service for airlines

  • Slowly out of the hangar

  • Such a beautiful dove!

  • Wow B747-8 Big Fuckin Deal go the airbus A380 ur the KING of the skies

  • That is note a 747-800. It looks like a 100

  • It's 747-8 (not called an 800) ... and the Airbus A380 is a piece of French crap like the rest of the defective & inferior garbage coming out of Airbus. If it's not BOEING ... I'm not going.

  • @SupraRacer007 747-8 747-800 and 748 is all the same

  • @thepokerfactory No, you are the idiot. Thanks for your useless comment.

  • issues man, issues...

  • oh woah, thats pretty

  • you are so right!!!!!!!!

  • @swamigal you do know that the design of the A380 is a stolen design airbus stole it from Mcdonnel douglas the original was the MD12 that was canceled either cause of money or cause boeing took over canceled the airliners. but boeing owns they build way more then airbus like airbus builds jet airliners and a military cargo plane wher boeing builds airliners tankers anti sub planes fighters military vehicles bombs missles rockets. boeing just over powers them and they build part of the F-22.

  • really

  • So when will be her first flight?

  • it was on the 8 of feb

  • Yeah. Last monday. I´ve seen the video. Thanks.

  • Iv spent 2 years of my Life working on the Thrust Reversers and landing gear actuators, I cant wait to see her take Flight.

  • Like always, the Queen of the Skies... Lovely design, marry me 747! By the way, today they said that this plane (freighter) could (if the preflight tests work out for good and the weather allows her) make it's maiden test flight on Monday, February 8th, 2010! It'd be a crime if I missed that.

  • Now that is a sight to see! The original Jumbo Jet that I think is yet to be dethroned the queen of the skies! Boeing 747 all the way!

  • How long before the chinese buy one take it apart and make a cheaper one

  • i´m normally no 747 fan, but this one, with this paint, looks brilliant, amazing..

  • wow B-E-A-UTIFIUL

  • a wonder piece

  • i missed out on the first flight of the a380 but i will make sure to see the first flight of the 747-8

  • Truly a wonder of aviation. Even though I'm terrified of flying, you have to appreciate the engineering

  • drum roll please...here comes the REAL thing...the iconic ans soon to be LEGEND...BOEING 747-8 (freighter)!

fantastic wings! flawless body! an aviation wonder...

  • its a 747 8 look at the tail, you can see an 8 there.

  • are you a fuking idiot its a 747-8

the cargo always has a shortened top hump

    and its a FRIEGTOR

they dont need that much space up there

  • Look at the engines, and the wing design, and like damiantymkiw said, their is an 8 on the tail, it's the 747-8.

  • Look at it well before commenting! Look at the new location of the wing and the engine! Aside from that, you can see the paint in the empennage... It's a 747-8!

  • Look at the tail, it says 747-8.

  • You imbecile the Boeing 747-100 went out of production like more than 30 years ago.

  • its the freighter

  • In the freighter version for the 747-400 and the 747-8, the upper deck is shorter. There is also the 747-400BCF (Boeing Converted Freighter) wich is a 747-400 converted from passenger to freighter aircraft.

  • this plane is just a beauty,

the a380 is like a pregnant hippo running around the airfield

  • If your talking about Beauty 747-8 is the one. Damn love those new wings...

  • USA numero UNO, el 747 es mucho mas lindo que el A380, the 747 is much better then the "french" A380.

  • i love boing

  • thats so long, its going to be a good replacement for the -400 and, this is so much more efficient than the a380

  • loving those engines! it's the best features of the 787 combined with the best/most impact heavy aircraft of all time.. take that a380! if it ain't boeing, I ain't goin'! (true the a340 is stunning aswell.... ahem correction: 787 wings/engines, a340-500 body... drool)

  • GENX engines look awsome!

  • @ferrari430fan :D +1 dude!

  • The upper deck looks short because this is the 747-8F, the freighter version.

  • i hate to brag but i think a 747-400 looks nicer with the winglets i really prefer the 747-400 but this is a 747-8F cuse boeing wont make a 747-8I untill 2010

  • @1722240 But the way the wings work it does not need winglets. The wings are like the ones on the 787 Dreamliner. When the plane is in the air the wingtips flex alot and this creates the same effect as winglets.

  • Hmm, is it me or the upper deck looks a bit short like the -300 & -400 ?

  • i think its the angle that the plane was that makes it look shorter but true it does look smaller

  • You're thinking of the -100 and -200 models of the 747. This is the frieghter version of the 747-8, therefore it has a shorter upper deck. The 747-8 Intercontinental will have an upper deck that's even longer than the deck on the -300 and -400 versions of the 747.

  • @AviationNation787 Thanks for the info :)

  • @sloppiexx This is the cargo version durr...

  • @sloppiexx

its the freight model thats why..

  • it's a 747-8F wich always have a small upperdeck the 747-8I has one huge upperdeck bigger then the 300 and 400 series

  • just needs some r/r power

  • the 747-8 has a bigger length. So dont be talkin its bigger. Like what Opelfreikie said: the A380 can be the fatass of the skies, the a380 is crap just to piss off boeing.

  • I actually meant the height i.e a380 is taller

  • well the 747-8 is still better the a380 just looks worse from how tall it is

  • @sacnaii 747-8 is still better than a A380. In all aspects.

  • @Airplanesuper80 Airbus best

  • @Airplanesuper80 anyway he(747-8) is longer so...shut up

  • @Airplanesuper80 umm stfu.. everybody has their own opinion so don't be saying that a380 is crap.. th747-8 is longer but with bigger height and width the a380 becomes bigger.. plus it can hold more

  • DEATH FORCASTED FOR AIRBUS A380 TOULOUSE GOOSE!

With only 200 units on back order A380 production rates will never go beyond anaemic two-per-month Airbus will fast approaching a point at which it will have to kill off the Unloved Toulouse Goose. To all Airbus Fairys this is the GGL Reaserch forcast for your "Precious" Airbus A380 is to be burried alive!

All the A380 will be remembered for is its colossal losses, poor market positioning, long queuing times at airports and not much else.

  • bigger doesn't mean better sacnaii :)

  • 747-8= 76.2m .....A380=73m

  • Long live the Queen! Down with the blimp (blubbery A380)!

  • I worked on the 787, and I thought that had a great job. Then this year I worked on this airplane, and oh my god, what a beautiful bird. Love the paint job. Can't wait to begin flight test, coming soon in '10!

  • 2:16 oh my lord is extremely huge. rip a380. is more elegant than the a380. LONG LIVE THE ALMIGHTY BOEING 747

  • Yeah! The 747 will be Queen of the Skies forever, while A380 can be Fatass of the Skies xd. I'm seriously starting to wonder if the Airbus designers were stoned when they designed the A380!

  • wow this is huge gud luck to a380...

  • Yea it's a beautiful plane but DAMN is it a pain to put together. I work in the 41 section and it does not go together like the -400 did. lol.

  • @djlilshonn Do you know if they start the testings yet ?

  • oh nice tail..beautiful aircraft

  • very nice aircraft and repint :) .. congrats for boeing.

  • Wow, always a joy. Ya know I think we are going to be having wonderful experiences with this mighty bird for the next hundred years, I'm serious. For those of us who enjoy this clip. Remember to watch the making of the 747& the Everest Washington plant video and interviews here either on the tube or youtube movies etc. Cheers~Janick&Wheels up~

  • I believe this new 747-8 will use the same improved cockpit as the 787.

  • Comment removed

  • it still has that brown color :/ i was hoping it would be black or dark gray like the 787

  • no its an enhanced 747-400 cockpit alot like the 400f

  • Boeing said the 747-8 will use the same cockpit technology as the 787.

  • and it looks exactly like the 744F go to their website

  • what is this nose section in the back? UAE 777? and why is it painted seperate?

    greets Maik

  • its a training aide for painters at everett

  • when is this baby gonna fly?

    any idea?

  • I'm guessing early 2010 :)

  • Tomorrow !!!!

  • if only it really was...

  • WooW! Beautiful and giant airplane

  • Windows now optional for a small fee in certain airlines.

  • Amazing

  • whitout windows?

  • @tituel - It's the Cargo version.

A passenger version is yet to be built, if at all ,there are only 20 orders for it so far.

  • Yes, the cargo does not want to look outside.

  • LOL !

  • Which is the first airline getting this beauty ?

  • Lufthansa is the launch customer for 747-8I, and Cargolux for 747-8F.

  • So when will Lufthansa get them ?

  • In 2010

  • Great !!

Is Singapore Airlines getting any of them ?

  • No, but they are: Cargolux Nippon Cargo Airlines Atlas Air Emirates SkyCargo Guggenheim Aviation Partners Lufthansa Korean Air Cargo Nippon Cargo Airlines Volga-Dnepr Cargolux Cathay Pacific Airways Dubai Aerospace Enterprise Arik Air
  • Yay , Cathay Pacific !! My 2nd favourite airline :D

Where can you check all these details ?

  • From english wikipedia. =P

  • Thank you sooooo much !

  • you referring to Cathay P. Cargo, I believe thats what theyre buying them for, NOT for Passenger, although that would be nice

  • Comment removed

  • at the beginning of 2011 i suppose

  • Thanks :D

  • no, at the end of this year

  • A longer upper deck on the freighter would be a liability: more weight, non-useable space. CargoLux is the launch customer for the freighter. The engines are Dreamliner GenX engines with a smaller fan.

  • B747-8 fan of enigine is 105 in. and B787 is 111 in. because needed small to powered B747 four engines

  • I know, I already have a ticket for the Lufthansa first flight of the Boeing 747-8

  • and from where do you have it?

    which route?

  • Can't wait to fly into the new Boeing 747-8I

  • Really liking that 747-8 logo on the tail and those cool engines.

  • She is a beautiful machine. Look how long it takes to get out of the paint hangar!

Love the paint with the extra big 8 for an

extra big jet airliner. Job well done.

Let's see her fly like the wind.

  • That's friigin' nice!

looking forward to see the Intercontinental version

  • Wow she is a gorgeous looking bird. Better than that fugly A380! Can't wait to see the 747-8 InterContinental though. Also I wonder when emirates are going to notice the front end of one of their 777's is missing lol. ;)

  • I think Boeing is # 1 in the airplane game just look at 747-8 great job, but with moving the HQ to the Midwest and the Charleston S.C. deal, Boeing has turned their backs on the Northwest and the Great people that have made this company what it is today. Boeing what's really going on ?

  • ya this is the freighter.. the intercontinental should have the longer hump.. waiting for tat :):)

  • Beautiful plane, although the 8I will be nicer looking with the longer hump. I've never liked the short hump on the 747 and it looks even shorter with the longer fuselage.

  • yes!!.. its finally here!!.. ive been waiting for it... The 747-8 will be the world's longest passenger airliner, surpassing the Airbus A340-600 by 3.6 ft. the 747-8 is 76.3 meters long!!... from what ive gathered; this plane is obviously longer than the 744, powered by 4 massive GEnx-2B engines, fitted with the new blended winglets..n to me the wings showed a higher angle of placement to the fuselage.. n one more thing:.the aircraft is gona create more wingflex that the predecessors.. lovely

  • has to be the best looking airliner out there. kicks the a380's butt for sure

  • I love how they incorporated that 8 on the tail

  • That's right !!

I did not notice until you say it :D

    Thanks !!!

  • That is the most shiny plane I ever seen.

Look at the engine , It's so shiny !!!

  • theres no winglets on the 748 why?

thats what makes the plane? :)

  • It's got raked wingtips

  • raked wingtips just liek the 787 and 777-300er 777-200lr

  • @oneofthemdeals

    quick rule of thumb:

short range - no winglets or raked tips

    Medium/long range - winglets

Ultra long haul - Raked wingtips

its all about drag penalties vs efficiency and the distances at witch these trade offs intersect.
