  • Funny, & i believe its very rare to even get your hand hurt by bad timing?. home is home i guess, this is also why obesity isnt much of an issue in many parts of africa. Its not starvation, its teh fact that we work for our food, walk a lot buying things in the market & ofcourse being under the sun without a choice. Great vid.

  • Looks great.. yumm.. I wsna try summ.. :)

  • I was worried he was gonna pound her hand

  • Hi, Thanks a lot I made it today. It was great!! I am from Kerala, Both Plantain and Casava (we call Kappa) are in plenty here. Kappa was brought here 200 years ago by Portugese (from South America as they found a common climate). But people in Keralal never had any food by mixing these two.

  • lol it has a funny name xD FUFU FUFU FUFU xD

  • don't chew th3 FU FU or you will be deportdd from ghana by the fu fu police

  • This is not Dutch lol, this is English

  • I'd love to try this. Thanks!

  • it's worth noting that who ever is mixing should before careful.

  • fufu is best with palmnut soup, chicken soup and even peanut soup(even though peanut suop is usually had with rice balls)

  • This look delicious!

  • 3:54 "So you gonna keep filming?... You're not gonna..? Oh you gonna keep on... Ah well..."

  • I would like to make that but thank goodness for the food processor :)

  • LOOK IT TIZ ! THIS LOOKS DELICIOUS ! MY MOUTH ITS WATERING ! YUMMY!!! I CAN ONLY IMAGINE THE MARRIAGE OF CASSAVA ( YUCA IN U.S.A ) AND PLANTAINS !! THANKS FOR THE RECIPE , (IT COST ME AN OVARY TO FIND THE MORTAR HERE IN U.S.A BUT I GOT IT YEEEEEY!!!!!

  • You are not untill you pound your first yam ! say this in a freshy voice lol !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Fu Fu finger insurance. LMHead Off!

  • What if I don't have the tools? Can I use something else?

And what is Cassava and Plantain ?

  • It looks disgusting... just starch with more starch pounded up. And why not chew it.. cuz its disgusting to taste?

  • @TheAmericanDesi your a typical narrowminded desi. stick to your daal and roti hun.

  • @TheAmericanDesi -I have learn u eat only roti nd daal..well i try it to ND I THINK IS REALLY NASTY ND IT ALSO STINK..TOO MUCH CURRY..Lmaoooo

  • anyone know where to get a mortar and pestle in U.S.A.? I'm looking. Instant fufu and instant banku sucks really badly. I tried it and it's awful. the real thing is the best :).

  • @iroc31407

You cn even use a blender if you dont have a mortar and pestle.

  • @soloja142 that's great. you have answered my question. thank you so much. will a blender work also on the instant flour version as well?

  • @iroc31407

If you use the flour version then you wont need to blend it.The mortar and pestle are used, remember,to pound the starchy food items to apowdered like consistency. However, since they have already been boilesd they are not powdery but just starcht as they have absorbed water,Some people use the powdered form, add water and put it in a micro wave--I do not recommend this as a microwave changes the texture of the food.Rather,I prefer to add some water to the powder and cook till done,

  • @soloja142 thanks soloja - any refinement of the recipe is welcome

  • fufu police???? haa yea rite...

  • luv it. lol at 2:50 - 3:00

  • This is making me so hungry!! Being Puerto Rican I eat tons of cassava (we call it yuca) and plantain I KNOW I would love fufu. :)

  • @themetalmonkey - if you can find a HUGE mortar and pestel to pound it you should give it a go -unforgettable!!

  • @Dutchvlog I was actually *lol* I have 2 mortar and pestels a marble and a large wooden one I have from Puerto Rico. Believe me if I could find a gigantic mortar and pestel I would buy it! In P.R. we have a dish called mofongo and it consists of fried plantains that are mashed with spices and chicharron and formed into little balls and served with fried pork and broth. Its so delicious but its alot of work. But like I said if I had the mortart and pestel in this vid it would be great!!

  • @themetalmonkey OOOOH that sounds nice - I'm gonna check that out. The giant motar and pestels can often be found outside West Africa in communities where many West Africans live. they are even sold here in Amsterdam and London - but they ain't cheap.

  • I Love me some Fu Fu

  • Very delicious. I ate it before.

  • "don't chew it, if you chew it, you will be deported from Ghana by the fufu police!"

  • @Llarky haha

  • i want to make this!!!!

  • nice video im goin to make this now i have been looking to see how to make this for a whlie thanks :)

  • Dutchvlog..nice. Hope there are some videos of other Ghanaian dishes too. People please stop with the "my country never makes food/fufu like this statements"...this is Ghanaian fufu not any other country' fufu so it's made how we Ghanaians like it not how you think it should be made.

  • Hey Fabs thanks for the support

  • Thats not how we Congolese people make it our is hot and not complicated

  • Ah wan chop oh! I miss Nkatse Nkrayn & fufu

  • Ghana chop rules OH!!

  • In my country we make Fu Fu (or Sadza in my language) with maize meal. You take about 2 cups of maize meal, making a paste by adding 2 cups of water then stiring it to the boil while adding more and more maize meal till it is a very thick, but it has to be stired constantly/vigorously with power and effort. But the traditional way of making it is more of a process.

  • when i was in nigeria they NEVER pounded fufu like this.

everyone would have lost their fingers by now.

    that looks so scary!!

and who eats it with plantain? o_o

  • a friend of mine in college had a nigerian boyfriend and watched his roommates make fufu with corn meal. they let it soak/ferment over night and the next day cooked it. it was amazing watching him with the canning pot and a big wooden stick form 4 perfectly smooth balls. they did not serve individual bowls they had one plate with the fufu and a bowl of stewed pigs feet next to it, it was a communal eating thing.

  • stewes pig feet? i didnt even know people ate that in nigeria.

that sounds really gross. anything pig. hahaha.

  • hahaah finger insurance and fufu police!! loove my counrtry! Ghana <3

  • Many thanks dutchvlog for informative vid. I like to cook for my Ghanaian partner and am glad of the help your vid provides. It's great to try world food. Incidentally, Fufu means something totally different in my culture, a little joke that I and my partner enjoy. I'm so glad he loves Fufu!

  • I loved this the guy is funny..... fufu police lol

  • Oh yes I just noticed the cooked casava in the pot.

  • Not all types of casava are toxic. Let me see.. I'm still here ... so this type must have been ok! You must try it sometime

  • Is the casava cooked? I thought raw casava was poisonous I know you can beat the poison out but id it cooked?

  • Thanks for the video I was wonder what they were doing in the Ghana movie "American Boy" now I know. LOL I thought the guy was beat or washing clothes near the restaurant.

  • I can not wait till I suprise my honey with making this for him. Looks so good!!!..mmmm thank you!

  • My pleasure - good apetite and have fun. Sounds cosy!

  • Im hungry i need to eat some fufu and groundnut soup, with chicken and maybe after that a little yam and kontumuri...Ghanaian food is the best!

  • Mmmm..I wouldn't mind meeting some FuFu police men...Lol., too funny but loved a every bit of it.

  • i like da video and i luv da narration! it was entertaining :)

  • Hi A-Baby, thanks for the compliment. How did your fufu turn out?

  • my friend brought in some fufu for an extra credit project. it was delicious. though about half the class didn't wish to try it because of it's consistency. i actually like it plain.

  • Hi Dutchvlog - how funny you narrated this!! I really enjoy watching. I am married to western african man but hv never tried fufu. Maybe i'll surprise my husband tonite!! :)

  • Please try it with nicely seasoned soup, bon apetite

    Ron

  • whr can i get one of those wooden bowls and stick

  • anywhere where ghanaians congregate - london amsterdam and definitely in ghana!!

  • I live and school in PA and I make fufu all the time. This is the coolest thing someone can ever eat.

  • this is so awesome im just learning about ghana and its culture and i found this..

this looks so delicious.. but one question not meaning to sound stupid but isnt it dangerous with the big stick i mean.. does it happen that he hits the hand of the other guy who is stirring in the pot ^^ uffff

    but coool ghana go =)

  • Hey thanks for the compliment - Yep - you must insure your fingers before you start making FuFu
