I thought this song was just for silly fun times, and the guys didn't like it to much from what I've read. How funny! Oh well, I still love Benny and all his music no matter how silly or sad. "Thanks For The Music...

I think ABBA were THE Rock n Roll band of the 1970's.
In a greeting video made for the 20th anniversary convention of the ABBA Fan Club, Bjorn told them to have a good time by making sure they didn't listen to this song! I understand why he'd like to forget writing the cheesy lyrics but it's actually a very fine sounding song, and lot of fun.
I'm sorry they were never filmed performing this song: I would love to see Benny and Bjorn singing the "bom bom bom" backing track.
actually i somehow always thought that Watch Out was B-52s song cuz that song is so their style. But it turned out to b Abba.. looks like every great song was abba's)

I will stick up for ABBA on anything, well....., almost anything. Every artist or group has at least ONE bad song, and for ABBA, this must be it. I have never laughed so hard at anything ABBA before, I almost fell off my chair, but that was this song's saving grace. Didn't Bjorn write this?
(The girls still look spectacular, although rather comical, obviously dancing to "So Long" with the "King Kong Song dubbed in).
This video must be ABBA's most hilarious moment ever. Thanks for posting.
Well, I am certainly glad they did not produce any more songs like this one, or they might be viewed today in the same category as the Village people and the song YMCA
The song is funny alright-but only because it clashes with their huge amount of excellence.
Good for a laugh, and the dancing makes it hysterical.
I think it is important for any follower of anything big to be able to occassionally criticize it respectfully, constructively or humourously, and that is what I have done
You're correct but it's still good! And, it's on their FIRST album. Also, dig those girl singers - they could be singing for an advertisement for "hemorrhoid removal" and they'd still look and sound great! It's their "comic relief" song, only good, and out of character, like the Beatles' "You Know My Name, Look Up The Number." But, it's way out of the league of the Village People. Take care, and Happy Holidays to you and yours!
@wieslawl59 - Are you sure? I have the original album right here in front of me and both "King Kong Song" and "Ring, Ring" are on it. The album's title is "ABBA (BJÖRN, BENNY, ANNA & FRIDA).
@wieslawl59 - Actually, we're BOTH correct! In America, and in other places, ABBA's 1st album was titled "Waterloo;" I bought mine in Italy where the title was "ABBA (BJÖRN, BENNY, ANNA & FRDA)." I just checked this out on the internet. Take care!
I agree don't get me wrong now I just had a true laugh about this one but I like it I really do nice rythm and beat.
In an official ABBA documentary sent in Sweden both Andersson and Ullveaus stated that if you've written over 100 songs there's at least one song that you dislike.

Not to quibble, but you might find that the video is from c. 1975 ("So Long").
ABBA never did a video for this song, regrettably. Bjorn apparently now hates it and wishes they never did it. I respectfully disagree with him, because it's pretty good.
That is because those shoes were from the 1970's! By the 80's, those kinds of shoes were thrown in the landfill. If you were brave/stupid enough to wear something like that in the 80's, you must have been 6'10", 300 lbs and could lift a truck with one arm.
What the hey, they look like they're having fun, and lots of people like that flavor of music. I just like ballads more, myself - and tracks like 'Move On', among others.
The problem isn't falling off the platform shoes - it's trying to climb back on top of them again. It was difficult carrying a stepladder in those tight pants.
The song does not match wad they are saying because this is not a video, its a montage.A montage is when a group of videos combined together to make a tribute to their success.

I think there was some some kind of studio trickery on the low vocals, they sound like they were recorded at a higher pitch and then slowed down to achieve the big "ba ba ba" sound. Somehow those backing vocals remind me of Bud Spencer in the famous "bom-bom-bom" choir scene in the movie "Watch out, we're mad" ("Altrimenti ci arrabbiamo")...also from 1974, I wonder who copied who! LOL

For me it is the best song, For this is the song where anna belted her highest note,, at 1:39 She hit C6 and at 2:11 a Bb6/B6...WOW!!
Her highest note in chest voice was on " hole in your soul".. She belted a B5 note on it.
