THIS SONG IS ORIGINALLY COMPOSED BY ROBERT JOHNSON , AND RECREATED BY THIS FANTASTIC GUYS....MORE , IT DOESN´T MATTER WHAT CAR OR MAYBE A MOTORCYCLE .... JUST DRIVE FOR ANYPLACE ...SMOKING , DRINKING , LIVING OUR SHORT LIFE AS BETTER AS WE CAN..
"i really want to drive a open top cadillac whilst smoking a cigar to this song on an american motorway ,any one agree ??" agree you want to do that. why would you lie.
Very early 90s I was just getting into music in general, listened to GNR first, and Slash mentioned Zeppelin in an interview. Checked them out, and my universe was burst asunder, and reshaped into four symbols forever etched in my soul.
@karlmanuel11 Since you obviously want to listen to great music instead of whatever craps on the radio, which I respect you for, maybe try Jimi Hendrix, older Black Sabbath and the Velvet Underground(oh sweet nothin is my fav. track)I'm a punk girl first, but do love alot of Led Zepplin and the bands I just mentioned. And I doubt there's many kids your age who want to hear great music. The Clash are my alltime favorites,+Reagan Youth,Dead Kennedys and Discharge.and Beethoven. Happy Listening :) :)
This is probably my most favourite song of the mighty zep - it has great groove and links back to the roots of the blues with attitude got to love it, if you dig the blues and guitar. Squeeze my lemon until the juice runs down my leg - says it all!
This is probably my most favourite song of the mighty zep - it has great groove and links back to the roots of the blues with attitude got to love it, if you dig the blues and guitar.
subscribe to ledzeppelin611 for lessons on led zeppelin, black sabbath, and many other gods of rock on how to play there songs and on the theory and style behind there songs like the folk and blues behind led zeppelin and where the heavy black sabbath sound came from in the awesome web show ROCK 101 which you should subscibe to that also cuz that is were the anual show will be on
your all wrong the were inspired by american black blues like robert johnson, blind dog wilie, and so many other
yes elvis was a part of the insiration but most of it like jimmys soloin came from old blues and robert plant was a big fan of folk music which mad its way into songs like the battle of evermore and gallows pole
jimmys soloing was based upon the pentatonic and blues scales (yes there a difference, subscribe and i will soon put out videos on guitar lessons like blues and rock) rock on
I've done something similar. lol Nothin is more fun than smokin a cigar whith the windows cranked down on my 1976 lincoln while this song is cranked up :D
@ledzeppelin4304 elvis paved the way for the beatles not talking about inspiration if not for elvis there would not be early rock if not for beatles there would be no pop/hard rock since the beatles covered so many aspects of rock and with out zeppelin no hardrock/metal/popularrock its almost generational i love zeppelin and the beatles no insult to either
you sorry god will show down. eh gross byh the way the bar actuall think about what beer qnd this song to a hot gril cause this songs bout a hot girl eh! BATH americano metis
i love the way they showed the original song by having it blues'd up in it's sped up version, then showing how rock n' roll was created by slowing it down and making it funkier.
LZ brightens any dull boring day for me. I loved their music for decades and still loving like first time. Whoever says something negative about them can go fuck himself. Period.
@PavaoPaul This song was recorded in 1969. If you look at ANY artist between 1950-1970ish you will see they took inspiration from bluesman, as there was nowhere to take inspiration except from them. Zeppelin themself have stated that this was a cover, they never took credit for the lyrics or original.
@PavaoPaul unlike some other songs, i don't think page ever tried to claim this was a zep original. plant always felt like crediting the originals, but page didn't, and page was in charge in those days. it was his band. because page felt that they were changing the originals enough to make them their own, and also many others had convered those old blues songs already.
@PavaoPaul For one thing, it's not a "rip off" when it's a cover and it's properly attributed to the original artist. Secondly, it's not a straight cover, but was designed as more of a tribute in that it quotes from several of his songs. Now go complain about The Beatles stealing riffs, or Jeff Beck, or even Beethoven.
I was just watching a documentary about punk music and Johny Rotten from the Sex Pistols said Led Zeppelin were shit and they had no talent. Well Mr Rotten I'm watching travelling riverside blues, not Anarchy in the UK.

@jaqua524 Double album of live cuts that this Travelling Riverside Blues take is from. Not sure if it will let me share the link, but put "Led Zeppelin BBC sessions" into amazon or similar.
He does it a couple of times in the song through out, but the parts where it is obvious is at 2:50 and 3:41. John Bonham plays these little double bass tacit fills that totally elevate the song.
@stx377 Just looks like a dude with big hands. Not too uncommon with those old blues players, or guitarists in general. Marshall Chess said when he shook hands with Howlin' Wolf it was like putting his hand in a baseball mitt...and hell, even Jimmy has pretty big hands, if you've ever noticed. Anyway, if you like this song, you should check out "Underground," by Rosetta West. It's really raw and dark slide guitar blues.
The words to this song are so all mixed up! No wonder the traditionalists cringed at Zep's interpretation!
