Here's my position (as a practicing Catholic): I say gay marriage, adoption, etc. should be legal under common law, but those churches that oppose it should be allowed not to recognize it. That way, neither church nor state is infringed upon...and I won't have to fear an (admittedly, silly) situation like "Straight Shooter" ever becoming reality.

I've recently had a revelation about same sex marriages. I used to be against them because of my religion, which by the way is why many people are against it, but lately, I started to realize something. I honestly don't care what other people do. I'll do what I consider to be right moraly and religously, and I leave others to do the same. Speaking as a Christian, sin is in thought, not necessarily action...but excuse that religous bit, I normally don't bring religion onto the internet...

@JubJubtheWonderHippo as far as homosexuality goes i think marrages is one of the least important factors for society. Children is a much bigger issue, i dont think its wrong per say for them to have children but i think if they do the children must have the exposure a classic nuclear family would, like they must have a male and feminine influences in their lives too, like spending time with hetrosexual uncles if its lesbian parents or if its gay fathers than spend time with aunt (just egs)

@1toneboy But couldn't the same be said if it's a heterosexual marriage if say, the mother is really masculine, or the father is feminine? For the first few years the child may or may not get both, but it's not guaranteed in any case, such as single parents. But as soon as the the child begins school, that should no longer be an issue. Or even sooner depending on religous habits such as going to a church. Or even daycare is exposure enough.

But i'm not convinced that school or religious habbits (i take it you just mean social interactions surronding) would furfil the exposure requirements necessary though especially as its not in a domestic environment, but if it did then sure, great, but i dont see it.
