I have this on one of those cheapo Spaghetti Western collections. I hadn't read the synopsis for the movie, so I was truly surprised when Lee Van Cleef got killed near the beginning. By far the best moment was seeing seeing him again as the badass twin-- nice surprise!
i dont get how when the one guy gets shot in the back of the head, he has holes in the front, from 2:57-3:00. if it were that powerfull of a shotgun, he'd have no head!
The movie itself its pretty good the story is solid and Lee interpretation is great, the only negative aspect is the image quality of the movie itself, the quality of the film is poor, but the movie its pretty solid.
for me... this is THE BEST MOVIE EVER MADE!! i just saw it last night and was soooo moved emotionally... I LOVE that the righteous man, because of his passion to be righteous cant be harmed... he stands strong and the guy cant hit him at all because hes protected by god, i like that he goes to steal their guns in the beginning instead of killing them. Holy Righteousness conquers all!!! so BADASS! i LOVE the music!
this film is beneath Jack Palance;Lee van cleef; and even Richard Boone....this is a piece of poorly made;awful trash--it's like the women are hated objects of lust and the men are just dogs....
@melollylolly You don't know a good western when you see it. That's how women were treated in the Wild West, and the men drank till their livers gave out. No bullshiting those guys were mean. I think you the only one here who finds this movie offensive, because you're probably some femanist. Who cares what you think, everyone thinks this is a cinimatic work of art. I'm a huge Lee Van Cleef fan and I think this is another great movie, much better than crappy movies there are now. Like Twilight.
god's gun was filmed in the early seventees in isreal.i was an extra and can only be seen in the opening credits.would you happen to have them?would love to see it.thanx cobykoehl
Could have been a classic (Lee Van Cleef in two roles!? come on!) but it just manages to be a trashy peice of entertainment. Nowhere near as bad as folks make it out to be.
Parolini is like the Spaghetti Western "Lucio Fulci" i.e. he found his niche during a particular wave and then floundered about (at least from what I can gather). In any case I love me the SABATA movies, even if they're often simultaneously wildly complicated and incredibly simplistic (ADIOS SABATA excepted which is actually a pretty solid film in most respects)
he made some popular movies(w/i Europe)during the gladiator & eurospy phases too, near as I can tell his directing career just went south in the 70s-I don't know whether he lost interest in the trends(can't imagine him being good at giallos), or what...certainly his style depended on having a good DP & good production designers, and I think the increasing cheapness/tackiness of movies in the 70s/early 80s(where he made his last movies)hurt him also.
I wouldn't say Parolini floundered after spaghetti westerns went out of style. He made Three Fantastic Supermen, one of the finest Italian cult movies of all time.
Fair point, but the Supermen sequels continued into the eighties. Parolini made the craptastic, but endearing Yeti in 1977 and a fun, Indiana Jones rip-off called Secrets of the Incas.

Maybe a little, but only in his later years. He looks nothing like him in his earlier classics that he's known for.

This is a good movie. It is shown fairly regularly on the Encore Western Channel. Keep up with the schedule and you should be able to catch it again.

Parolini is such a funny director :) And Lee (not to be confused with Leif) is not bad either. :)

Wasn't 3 Fantastic Supermen released in 1967? EuroWesterns were still going strong then and God's Gun was released in 1976...
