  • LOVE eddie and this song

  • Beautiful song. Compelling and rich.

  • This reminds me so much of my daddy.

He didnt die or anything i just havent seen him since i was 8 and i miss him more than anything in the world and i would give my life just to see him one more time :(

  • i feel Pearl Jam is the only band left which has kind of a old school rock feel to it,. Though from 90s I feel they are from earlier time. Which is awesome.

  • i'm 1 and i like pearl jam

  • Eddie you make my day everyday and i thank you for that. GREAT SONG

  • Love this song. Haunting voice and touching lyrics. Fantastic....

  • esta banda lleva en mi vida desde los 13 ahora tengo 18 es de los mejores recuerdos

  • Nobody cares how old you are. If you like the music, great, I would hope so, considering you clicked on the video. If you don't like the music, that's just fine too, can't be everyone's cup of tea now can it? Now listen to the song.

  • im 13 been a fan for a while one of my favorites

  • I have no words to describe how amazing this song is!!!

  • I just heard this music on Castle. I'm a Pearl Jam fan but due to a lot of work hadn't realized what a great song Eddie wrote. I've known Pearl Jam since '91 and all their albums are on my shelf. And now this song is on my head also!

Long live Eddie Vedder and the Pearl Ja.

    Greetings from Portugal

  • I'm 15 and I love this music so much

  • Im 19. and Pearl Jam is all I listen to. Eddie has an incredible raw talent with his voice. However, his song-writing is what separates him from everyone else I think. How does a man come up with words like his? I would give anything to know.

  • Hearing Eddie's voice on this album with the exception of Just Breathe makes me want to cry... And not because it's good...

  • Eddie has always been a little mistreated by bandmates and other bands because he's so emotional and emotionally honest. The vulnerability he's never let them kill is why Pearl Jam is Pearl Jam. Everything else about Pearl Jam is good, even really good. Eddie is the superstar.

  • /watch?v=cenOQ3nmhzI

  • This song should be on the Up soundtrack.

  • back spacer is a very sad album this being one of the saddest song

  • where did it all go? I am 62 now, what happened?

  • PEARL JAM ARE AWSOME, my whole life has been in there music

  • Impeccable.

  • My husband, told me,"i THINK AM GOING TO PASS OUT." And then he died. We were @ LA, , we did PJ a bunch of times, THE END

  • 9 dislikes...REALLY? 9 IDIOTS!!!

  • This is such a heartfelt song, Eddie vedder has such an innate sense of life and what is real, that's why I love him so much.

  • More than friends, I always pledged

cause friends they come and go

    People change, as does everything

    I wanted to grow old

I just want to grow old

  • GÄNSEHAAAAAUT :-))))

  • meltin.....

  • I agree with IronEddie but The problem lies within marketing. Pearl Jam is one of my favorite bands. personally i put them up there with the likes of Led Zep and skynyrd. You will be hard pressed to find many bad songs from any of the three bands. Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Sound Garden and Alice in Chains in the early 1990's (popularity wise) were what the Beiber and GaGa's are today. The talent isn't even close. Pearl Jam was pure talent. The "talent" today consist of synthesised voices. Weird!

  • @sponger30 agreed---though im a late gen y, i struggle to find many good BANDS in todays generation of music --- it's all just dance, dance, dance music. What happened to actual instruments??? like you said....most of todays music doesn't come close to talent.

  • love this song so damn much

  • im 16 and i listen to PJ since i was born.

  • It really is ashame how music has gone to shit now a days. And i thinks its amzing how lady GaGa and Justin Beiber get millions of views on their videos that are crap, and this great song has only 279,048....its ashame

  • @IronEddie6661 Yeah i agree. But how about we lift our chins and be happy that Great bands like PJ and Nirvana are/were around.

  • heyhey im 18 and i like the 70's 80's 90's :) dont blame me ;)

  • This song is Just amazing..

  • First time hearing this song by Pearl Jam and I already know i'll be playing it non-stop.

  • i love this song

  • Amazing... some of the best lyrics Eddie's ever written.

  • Real music.

  • Best song on Backspacer!!!!! AWESOME!!!!!!

  • their best album

  • now my teacher came from Canada ... back to europe

I´ve just discovered the cd, beautiful booklet, I feel enthusiasm, positive lyrics, vitality again, from Pearl Jam .

  • The first time I saw PJ was in Rome, in 1992 (I believe) as supported of U2. I went to the event only to saw them, which have produced only the "Ten"

I hope to see them again, because this song and the Lp is wonderfull.

I love this song and I love this video :)

  • Absolutely great music and lyrics!

    Just love it...

    ***

  • @gbo123

If you want music that refuses to evolve, Nickleback could use another fan.. the other fan is getting lonely.

  • and it doesnt make all this backspacer shit "mature" or "good music" just bcause is slow or gay...

  • i really hate this album..im an oldschool PJ fan..ive always loved pj....but idk if u can undesrtand me...fuck backspacer...

  • I love Pearl Jam in all shapes and forms. I personally don't see how you can view this as anything other than genius... The music, the lyrics, the emotions... They all blend perfectly. Is backspacer drastically different than pretty much all their other albums? Yes. Does that make it bad? No. You're entitled to your opinion... but PJ did right by this album. That's for damn sure.

  • beautiful

  • Everytime I listen to pearl jam i think of Nirvana and think "why couldnt it have been Eddie?"

  • @disciple21781 are you stupid or something??

I also prefer Nirvana to Pearl Jam, but Eddie is awesome too.

It should have been one of those pop singers, who suck in everything related to music but still reach success...i wonder why???

  • @disciple21781 You fucking idiot. Are you referring to it being Eddie instead of Kurt? Eddie is 10 times the artist than Cobain ever was AND he's still here to prove it. Fucking Nirvana loving waster. Do you and I a favour, follow in Kurts footsteps....great song too. FUCK OFF AND DIE CUNT.

  • @woonoel101 dude, i was only kidding. i wouldnt wish death on anyone. I just thought it would be funny to say because i think this songs is meh

  • @woonoel101

You can cuss and whine all you want. Pearl Jam is a great band, and Eddie Vedder is a terrific singer I agree. One of the best! You can't compare Nirvana to Pearl Jam. If you really want to then you will be dissapointed. Cobain was a LEGENDARY artist and his band changed music forever. Pearl Jam's story and Eddie's isn't even finished yet. Your comment was very ignorant.

  • I dislike I-tunes and won't buy from I-tunes. Does anybody know where I can legally download this song?

  • Comment removed

  • Bad ass.

  • Que buen tema !!! QUE BUENA BANDA!

  • Looking out from the inside

of the bottom of a well he's some writer

  • Im only 13 and Ive always loved Pearl Jam and other rock bands. I grew up with this stuff. And their songs can still make me cry my heart out :')

  • Dude, I'm 14 and I'm into all the grunge music.

  • I love all of Pearl Jams past and current songs. The newest CD "Backspacer" has a few songs on it like "Just Breath" and "The End" that are lovely but dark. Both songs speak of death and "see you on the otherside". I hope Eddie's not ill. Pearl Jam has got me through some good and bad times of my life. I hope that isnt going to end soon.

  • I'm thirteen, I love Pearl Jam.

  • I am 33 and listens to pearl jam while @ work ... They keep me going in times when I'm so tired. It's the music they keep me "ALIVE"

  • linda

  • Just think if we still Had the most underrated band of all time.BLIND MELON on tour with Pearl Jam now. That would be true heaven.Eddie's voice still has got so much soul.

  • Thank's for this song and for all the songs which are inside my soul since the first time I discovered yours first LP.

I'm 40 and I'm from Italy and, now, Spain.

  • I met Eddie on Kalvøya Festival outside Oslo, Norway in '93 - he's still my favourite vocalist. The depth, the empathy

    Thanx PJ -

  • im 26 and that why i like the years 1990 :) Always liked Pearl Jam, Backspacers is one one the greatest album , even if its 2009 :)

  • They are greater as the only true survivors of the great Grunge Era 91-94

Even though they have changed along with their age, they are even more respectful not losing identity and desire for great music

  • yo man....I Be 48 and got to have some pearl jam since they were mookie blalock and temple of the dog...they are definitely one of the best..and i believe they are capable of producing some very good tunes for a long time

  • Actually, Temple of the Dog was not Pearl Jam, it consisted of Jeff Ament, Mike McCready, and Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam, but singing was Chris Cornell and Matt Cameron of Soundgarden. The project was put together as a tribute for the singer of Mother Love Bone. Temple of the Dog came along after Pearl Jam had already released "Ten".

  • Comment directed at Play4u62

  • @BALANCED911 Eddie Vedder was also in Temple of the Dog

  • @stacyn333 Actually Eddie Vedder was not an actual member of Temple of the Dog. The band consisted of Jeff Ament, Mike McCready, and Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam, but singing was Chris Cornell and Matt Cameron of Soundgarden. Eddie Vedder only did vocals on 2 tracks for the Temple of the Dog disc. Check the liner notes!!!!!!!

  • @BALANCED911 I know he sang on "Hunger Strike" and "Say Hello to Heaven". I still say he was part of Temple of the Dog, providing leading and backing vocals.

  • PEARL JAM!! Better than toe jam...ha

  • 29 yrs old and listen every day

  • beautifull. just beautifull.

  • im 43 and love pearl jam eddie has one of the best voices ever KEEP ROCKING

  • i`m 35 and i`m from russia. but pearl jam accompany me from when i was 16. and eddie is one of best singers because he sings very truthful.

  • @olegovich75 i so agree :)

  • @olegovich75 .....What a powerful song...

  • i am 35 an still listening

  • 'm 15 and i listen to this.

I have been listening pearl jam since i was 12!

  • Pearl Jam, best american band ever. they truely are an inspiration

  • @Chaosrage97 I'm 19 and i love it, but it's true there aren't many people my age or younger that listen to this kind of music. It's a shame really!

  • @lithiumm...

I'm 15 and I listen to this. He's one of the best singers of all time.

  • one more thing, if you want, and if you have some curiosity taka a look at the last idols show in portugal winner and analise his voice, its something

  • Listening to the Backspacer album, I feel as if Eddie is dying or something is off, think about it listen to the lyrics. And believe me i dont want that to be true and i hope im wrong but really take a look and think.

  • maybe some one near eddie died or its about to die...

this album got me in tears...

    i hope you r wrong :D

i wish they come to argentina again...

  • at the first leastning , one name came to my head, kurt kulbain

  • This one pearl jams saddest songs to date, it makes me sad every time it plays on my ipod, its still a good song :)

  • a band can't keep doing the same thing over and over again....maybe u should listen to the wiggles...they do the same stuff over and over....

  • @mfbinc haha, well said.

  • totally agree

  • i just love pearl jam ♥

  • Pearl Jam always has, from the moment of my birth, completed my life.

  • this is a real good song

  • The best thing about Pearl Jam is that every song relates to people different. I have a 100 favorite PJ songs depending on the mood i am in. They are great band.

  • omg :O this is so beautiful... I feel like crying...

  • This is one of my absolute favourite songs ever. I'm only 17, and for the media and the like to sterotype us in the way that makes it look like we listen to the shit that's currently in the charts annoys me unbelievably so, THIS is music and this band is absolutely awesome, I'm so grateful my stepdad's cool and showed me all this music at a young age!

  • @BenSpeirs same here ( I get angry any time I hear miley cyres), also check out vedder's "solo" album for the movie Into the Wild. its great to see a modern band making music that can be classified as art

  • Haha, Im a 14 year old girl and ive been listening to this stuff since i was 9 :) Im glad you left the world of miley cyrus or whatever :D

  • amen. im glad SOMEBODY agrees with me finally. teh only ppl around me that like this music are near their thirties. wishe there wer more like us

  • @Chaosrage97 There are a lot of people like "us" who enjoy this music, but we often don't waste time arguing about trivial things. Bands change, bands grow older, just as people do, and they see things differently than they did when they were in their early 20s. This song sounds influenced by Eddie's work on the Into the Wild soundtrack. If people have been following Eddie's lyrics a long time, they'll realize that he's often got into the head of someone else when writing songs.

  • man backspacer i an honestly impressive album im truley moved by these song so different!!!

  • @Chaosrage97

there are a lot of teens who like actually good music like this.

  • amen to that

  • @Chaosrage97

You can't judge a group of people just because of their statue, color or aparence..

for exemple, you can't say that all blacks listen to hip hop..

Please don't put this in groups, cause there are 40 Years old guys listening to Justien Bieber...

  • @parkourzeus well that just shows you 40 year old guys can lose their hearing

  • @AxDdWn9491 Thank god for that!! i'm making sure my 5 yr and 5 mnth old learn to listen to GOOD music!

They will be brought up listening to eddie!!

  • @AxDdWn9491 I´m 12, and I´m one of those. My father fuckin LOVE´S PJ! So, I grown up listening to Ramones AC/DC, PJ, and I actually cracked my head to listen to "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple. We are from Portugal.

  • @Chaosrage97 im a teen and love this cd

  • @Chaosrage97 I'm 11 and Pearl Jam is like my favorite band along with soundgarden nirvana the red hot chili peppers and the jimi hendrix experience . Lady gaga and nickleback can all stick their heads up their asses haha long live rock and roll !

  • WOW!!!!!! This song is B E A U T I F U L.... just breathtaking, to me. I can't stop listening to it. You can feel his powerful emotion. My new favorite song by Pearl Jam.

  • I like how everyone says there not pearl jam fans and hear backspacer and all of a sudden are....You guys are pearl jam fans you just havent expirenced it till backspacer!!

  • Just heard this in Castle.. had to search it

  • Comment removed

  • This song usually sort of brings a tear to my eye, when I reflect on my past achievements or problems in life. It's a very beautiful song from one of my favorite bands. I think this has to be my favorite song from Pearl Jam's new record, "Backspacer."

  • @TFP2001 It's definitely different. A few of the songs i thought sucked have ended up turning into my favorites. I can only recommend giving it another shot. I love it!

  • i was never a big Pearl Jam fan but this has to be one of their greatest songs ever.

  • flintmode you shouldnt expect anything from pearl jam they will play what they want not whats expected of them, they dont have to write sad albums all the time , this one is mostly positive. that said i respect your opinoin

  • Is it just me..or is pearl jam beggining to sound semi- Indie??...

  • What's semi-Indie?

  • Thats hard to explain..just look at bands like Minus the bear, Interpol, and The arcade fire....soem of pj's songs seem to be moving towards that music melody wise....but im wierd...so im probably alone in this..lol =p

  • @erikskatethrash Their music definitely changed on this one. Not sure, but it's still true to their older stuff. there is a rift growing, however.

  • Well, i guess its a major label band that shuns Music Videos and and other mainstay Mainstream marketing gimics.... thats Pearl Jam

  • Its just you, believe me.

  • great album and the voice is fantastic

  • Truely a great PJ tune.. I don't really care for most of this album, which kills me but, it's just not what i expect from PJ.. This song really makes the album worth while tho..

  • gotta agree. you expect something from someone. then you could like it or not, it's up to you. but even if i dont get what i expect, if the sound is great, i like the ''new'' or ''different'' sound of it..

    sorry for the bad english.

  • ***B E A U T I F U L L***

  • I first heard this song when it was on Castle (very nice song for Beckett and her mother). I think this song is completely and utterly amazing. I love the music, the lyrics, and how its sung. It's amazing how this singer and the music can make the song deep even though the lyrics are already deep <3

  • First time I had heard it also, but I agree with everything in your post. One of my favorite songs now.

  • beautiful what you wrote, I agree.

  • i love his voice in this song! i love pearl jam!

  • Comment removed

  • damn what a great voice... its an instrument in itself

  • damit i want to buy this album

  • This album is great, there is not one bad song on there!

This is one of my favourites, mostly becasue pearl jam songs work when eddie brings a lot of emotion to the lyrics. He does this especially here.

  • yeah, so boo to all the once who don't like the new album. I bought it the first day it came out =)

  • @babowh: my wife gave me this CD as gift... I know PJ until theirs first album (Ten) and I saw their four times (in Rome and Madrid)

The End, is one of theirs best songs...

  • I find the ending to this song VERY unsettling. First couple of times I heard it, I would get a chill through my body hearing the music stop and Eddie whisper, "but not much longer."

When I get over it, I realize it's poetry within the notes. Great tune.

  • great song. I love Pearl Jam. Their CD is

    fantastic.

  • its alternativ music dude

  • I bouhght PJ's newest album before Christmas . My boyfriend told me that it was the BEST peresent for him. (:

  • I wanna be Your boyfriend :)

  • ^^. (:

  • greaT

  • Remarkable song!!!!!!

  • Finally, after all these years I can say that Pearl Jam is one of the greatest bands of all time, pure RNR.

  • whats RNR?

  • its rock n roll dude!!

  • great lyrics, song really shows out eddies voice

  • omg beautiful song<333

  • PJ just get better, and better, and better, and better...

  • That's the way I feel and I'm only 32,but I feel I have something to do before I'm gone to the end.GREAT SONG!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep on rockin' Pearl Jam! Even though I don't see eye to eye with some of the things they believe in,still one of my favorite bands of all time! When ten came out I knew they were gonna make it, I could hear that.

  • Very very sad, perfect song

  • I´ve beeing listening Pearl Jam since 90´s sice Pearl Jam born, and I cant´t believe all the evolution of the band if you live all teh albums youll see how they grow up into de deep of the songs , this new album is so mature, so full of spirit, it´s an album to live not just to listen.

Eddie, Mike, Mat, Stone and Jeff, thank you for almost 20 years of excelent music.

  • One day... the things said in this song's lyrics will cross our mind... when we face the end.

  • we all face the end every minute of the day. actually its already upon us all. confronting your death while living is a powerfull tool to use in your life.

  • This music is real.

Most of today's bands only create crap "songs" just to make cash.

  • Great song. I like this album.

  • bliss..

  • Grunge was a title that certain people in the media created. Nirvana, Pearl, Jam, Soundgarden were simply excellent rock bands that wrote great songs. Unfortunately there are very few newer bands that have the same passion or talent as them.

  • Best song on the new album!

  • Love it.

  • Just when I thought they couldn't get any better, they come out with this album. God Bless Pearl Jam.

  • This is not a song, it's a poem

  • dose the genre really matter good music is good music
