@Eirik280TE - well of course any bike or trike's speed is really only as fast as the biological engine (me) ... but all things being equal, a trike is generally heavier than other kinds of bikes, has an extra wheel (traction) touching the ground, but also enjoys a bit of an aerodynamic advantage. The weight can also be an advantage on downhills, and a disadvantage on uphills. But I find my trike is about as fast as my mountain bike... a road bike would generally be faster.
I did this same hill last weekend again... hit 38 mph this time!
Also did a ride down a 10% grade road the other week an had the trike up to 42! that was a blast. It handled good at that speed. I was not sure how it would steer above 40 but it did good.
In this video I just rolled down the hill... without pedaling and I hit 32 mph. Probably could not go too much faster because you would need a HUGE gear in the front and much smaller gear in the back. but it might be possible to get it up to 36- 40 pedaling like a madman. My friend on his two wheeled recumbent bike hit 43 mph down that hill before he backed off.
Is is you, or is the trike much slower than normal racers and 2wheel-recumbents ?
