Some differences in what I was taught, however, basics seem to be there. Thanks for the video library. As in all schools there are some differences, but it is nice to have something to reference at home.
i agree he does have some sloppy basics his first simaltanous(i definetly spelled that wrong ^_^) kick punch was very lame and after he did the first 2 advances he didn't go in to a square horse b4 the next steps
kenpo focuses on techniques that are practical for self defense.going through the ranks you learn many variations to protect yourself. Some very brutal techniques such as eye gaugeing. bone breaking, goin shots etc. Most martial art sysems are effective if used correctly. Depends on the practitioner. Some schools are just "belt factories" that promote their students even if they are not ready to make money on the testing, belt, etc.
JUST WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU FOR THE INFO ON YOUR SITE. IT IS JUST GREAT .IT IS SO HELPFULL .I USE TO TAKE NOTES ,VIDEO IS GREAT TO HELP WHEN I DONT REMEMBER A FORM OR A TECHNIQUE THANKS
I'm wondering why he doesn't aggressively cock back the fist/elbow/arm that is not attacking. sometimes it's just hanging there, loose. have to say i'm surprised he's 7th degree.
@lostinspacex kenpo doesn't suck at all.If Rickson lost, would jiujitsu be looked suck? If a boxer lost to a practitioner of another style (which has happened plenty of times) would boxing suck? No.Same with kenpo."IT'S NOT JUST WHAT YOU KNOW,IT'S HOW YOU TRAIN."--ATACX GYM MOTTO
@lostinspacex hey first, you practice Kenpo o Bjj?, you are a martial artist what degree you are? if you don´t you better shut up, only if you are a black belt you can say anything about Kenpo or any martial art. i can´t say anything about painting if i can´t make a simple sketch........
@MichelleMood not exactly sure which particular move you are referring to, but it is called checking, cover, and point of origin. have you ever seen a boxer cock his hand back and then throw a punch?
@MichelleMood its just the technique i know when we do long 2 its a little different in some of the strength in the moves but its just his interpretation and in the way we look at telegraphing movement. Personally when i do this form i do alot of strong telegraphing for tech but its not needed to show good technique
@lostinspacex Nah, the American Kenpo system is mostly logical, and definitely brutal. You're just seeing weak practitioners, like this dude here who also has very sloppy basics. The older kenpo guys practice their kenpo like hard stylists, and many come from traditional karate systems.
@lostinspacex I have been training in American Kenpo from 2004-present. It's most definatley brutal, and I've most definatley worked hard and been taught by the best. One of my instructors. Mr Mike is actually from China, and learned over there. Not saying that matters at all where you learned from...
Do any of you know where I can contact Mr Joe Sanchez of Las Vegas Nevada,, I need to find him so I can get my video of my black belt test,, this is Charles Wallace 3rd dan,,, Contact me here on youtube Joe
Thank you for a good explanation and for the form. Bless you. Hope, that you will continue the Project and put the rest of the System on the net ahead of others.
Hey, great site, man. Very useful for someone who's new to these kenpo forms. Seems like almost everybody in kenpo stands with their legs too far apart after they just said "roughly shoulder width", but I notice that you definitely don't. Looks really comfortable.
this is amazing...I've been doing kenpo for 14 years months ago I'd call this form all wrong really it is amazing only now after 14 years and many degrees am I realizing everyone is taught it and learns it, it being the art, differently.....master Parker really did teach people different. to me...you're timing is all wrong but but you learned what you learned and you did the form well....awesome job thanks for sharing your knowledge :D
nice reference for American Kenpo forms. do you have a video where you show the application the way you do with belt techniques?
