Not once was Cooper down in that fight and was still comming forward when the fight was stopped beacuse of cuts.

all the glove guy did was run to the dressing room, check to see if there were any new gloves around, and then came back and said there were none. the rip wasn't that bad so the gloves weren't changed. it was just quick thinking on Angelo's part... it's a trainer's job to look out for his guy no matter what. i don't blame him for doing what he had to do to get his guy a much needed extra few seconds to recover and i wouldn't think less of Cooper's trainer had he done the same.

There's no doubt in my mind Henry would have forced the stoppage. He was a great finisher, and Clay was out on his feet. People talk about Henry being a small guy, he was around 6' 2" and 175-180, with a left hook that'd drop a rhino.

Henry Cooper was just really unlucky the bell went after that knock down, if he had done it sooner he would have definitely knocked the nignog down. and the glove being ripped and gettin more time to rest, bit of a fuckin stich up. ali looked like he had just taken 20 shots of scotch when he got back up from the knock down. henry was very humble in this vid too, proper sound bloke youd meet down the pub in the east end.

Ali got up after a few seconds, nobody knows if Ali would have recoverd or not. If you look at the punch he got from Frazier, that was harder then Coopers and Ali did recover. He wasn't cheated, Ali was clear enough to run for half a round...cleared his head even without the glove incident...and ould of koed our 'enry. Ali on a learning curve. Time proved he could take a shot and recuperate amazingly fast. Never koed and only tkoed(corner stoppage) by Holmes at the end of his career when Parkinson's was taking it's toll..but believe this, a the young champion was badly stunned. But I will say this...WE LOVE YA HENRY!

not to take away from him, cooper wasn't cheated. the glove was already ripped all angelo did was hide it thinking it might be useful. i'll agree that it was a little bit shady. but it only gave ali an extra 7 seconds to rest. they never changed gloves and you can review the fight as much as you want, it's not gonna change. ali would've recovered regardless and the fight was about to be stopped anyway from that ridiculous cut cooper had. if anything, cooper's curse was the he got cut so easily.

i've watched that fight tons of times... including this afternoon. i actually own the full fight. and i'll agree that it wasn't 7 seconds, but it wasn't anywhere near the 4 or 5 minutes everyone keeps saying. it was about 30 seconds on top of the 1 minute break.

Ali's trainer knew that he had a rip in his glove before the fight, which is illegal in boxing :) , i'm not saying that it took them ages to change the glove but the delay did cost cooper the fight

Angelo Dundee has admitted there wasa "4 or 5 minute break to get another glove--it was cut --I didn't cut it." But neither glove had a cut on it after the round was over. Clay's camp should never have been allowed to get away with this.
