Alan Rickman will always be the best actor. He lives the roles as if they were his second life. But Severus Snape is by far NOT the best part. In Sense and Sensibility, for example, he plays Colonel Brandon so great, I admire him. Also, Robin Hood, it's just fantastic to watch how he plays the sheriff with a conviction, as if he would really hate this feeling. I will always admire him.

While his voice doesn't drive me nuts like it does others, I thought this was a good interview. You can really tell the difference between intelligent actors like Rickman and so many of the men and women in the HP films, who think about their roles, and other actors who can barely string a sentence together.

@edoboleyn It's because all the older actors of the HP films are some of the most accomplished theater actors in Britain, they've all done Shakespeare, and they've come through the same process of having a theatrical background through drama school which gives you an excellent training as far as true acting skills are concerned. Jason Isaacs himself said that the actors working on HP take up their roles boldly, they are fully prepared with their characters, and they all believe in having fun :D

I don't recall even a single instance in the films when Snape has actually shouted at someone (even with Quirrell, he's talking in a deadly calm voice). Even while he's insulting the trio, his voice is deadly calm. And that makes it even more dangerous, the fact that he talks in such a soft voice forces you to listen to every word he's saying. That's his way of making everybody pay attention...sheer genius!
