Gold and silver is only worth what a person is willing to pay for it. It as no value to those that do not value it. However, boundaries do have value to the people that live within them.

@academysounds True, anything of supposed given value is only valuable because we give it value. However, gold and silver are at least real commodities, as opposed to paper and digits which is our current form of money with nothing to support its apparent value.

@academysounds The "value" in terms of fiat currency is irrelevant. The main reason to obtain gold and silver is so *they* can't have it. Consider that all of the big banks (I'm not talking high-street branches here) ultimately settle their accounts in gold. Stop thinking in terms of fiat currency. An ounce of gold is worth an ounce of gold. Also consider that in most countries you do not have allodial title to land - those who control the gold do. ;)

@TheHolySpirit, gold and silver will not buy water if there is no rainfall for 200 years. That is my point. The ancient civilizations were wiped out due to no rainfall. Instead of people concerning themselves about money, they should be coming together and building eco villages where they can grow everything they require from the sun. One can even harvest water from the sun.

@academysounds Your point is entirely valid, but to arrive there you need to a point where power is removed from those who currently CONTROL the land on which you can build. How are you going to acquire land that they call theirs and they hold title? Interesting that you mentioned water, because silver is an incredibly useful commodity which can be used to purify water and is also essential for solar panels used to harvest sunlight and convert it to electricity like you're using right now.
