  • This is also why the overclass demands the world to be overpopulated. Overpopulation means there are more people then jobs, which means that there is always desperate cheap labour an inch away from literally starving.

It's also why the rich must be nothing short of exterminated if we wish to save the planet actually. They care about nothing but the next three months profit, and that will slowly but certainly render this planet uninhabitable.

  • I finally know what Reganomics is. Our rights were being chiselled away even then. It's 2011 and only gotten worse.

  • I'm shocked at how long it's been since our rights have been chiselled at. It's 2011now and it's only gotten worse. I've heard the term "Raganomics" many times, but didn't know what it meant before now.

  • Advertising has hijacked our dreams through the misuse of the resourse of narrative and is being used as the 'corporate propaganda' (brainwashing) that Noam mentions.

  • (for my archives:)

(4:55) So from 1985 to 1992 the US went from highest labor-costs to second-lowest in the industrial world.

  • Capitalism, the wage slavery of immense humanity in a politically manipulated Market system of ARTIFICIAL SCARCITY to perpetuate WAGE-SLAVERY/EXPLOITATION indefinately in the interest of the RULING CLASS. A system of commodity production for profit in a modality of perpetual war, enviornmental destructions, animal crueltuy and suffering, a social reality of poverty, fear, insecurity, dehumanisation and distortions of our common humanity. We need to reclaim our LIVES/EARTH for our common wellbeing

  • I was personally affected by what Chomsky describes here during the Reagan years. A member of the UFCW, my union, and many others, were, for all intents and purposes, dismantled. My wages were cut to less than half, and as many workers left, so did the memory of hard-won worker rights in those workplaces. As I recall, takeover giants Kohlberg, Kravis and Roberts was responsible for the leveraged buyout. Unfortunately, I had no idea of the underlying reasons for it at the time.

  • The first sentence contains an obvious lie.

  • i can tell your an idiot because it seems like your having a hard time understanding chomsky

  • I understand the arguement but i just cant believe that these people dont understand how we got to where we are...

  • Can anyone help me get a good camera to document the fight of my life against foreclosure?

  • How is the foreclosure fight going?

"Sorrow not if, in these days and on this earthly plane, things contrary to your wishes have been ordained and manifested by God, for days of blissful joy, of heavenly delight, are assuredly in store for you. Worlds, holy and spiritually glorious, will be unveiled to your eyes. You are destined by Him, in this world and hereafter, to partake of their benefits, to share in their joys...To each and every one of them you will, no doubt, attain." Baha'u'llah

  • memory is the weapon of the people

  • "Jah Government is going to come down and rule this World" How long can this SHITSTEM with their POLITRICKS keep Downpressing and dividing us ?? Jah Live... Much respect for the couragous few that expose this SHITSTEM w/TRUTH !!! Why isn't this gentleman in the OBAMA CABINET ????

  • Bc obama would have been killed if he was lol

  • Good point on the current anxiety the free market creates in western countries. The exploited worker is paranoid of redundancy and has accepts a reduction in living standards. Under the guise of development the third world workers leave the farms and become factory slaves. A sick system and anyone complains and they're branded protectionists. Evil neoliberal criminals with the IMF debt collection agency and weapons as back-up.

  • @aphex303101 Globalization isn't so bad. The Third World has been developing rapidly largely as a consequence. Market corrections are good.

What gets me is intervention on behalf of U.S. interests without regard to democracy or others' lives. That and the IMF forcing developing countries to adopt austerity (cutting safety nets/raising taxes) while lowering corporate taxes. It's the rich mugging the poor abroad using funds stolen from the poor at home, all to bilk domestic workers out of a job.

  • @darkmiles22 The march to war and monetarist Treasury Secretary appointees have to be avoided by elected officials. Geithner seems to be the best man for the job, but Obama needs to man up and pull the troops out now. And the Republicans will reverse course, of course. That is unless the influence of private money in campaigns is curtailed, which will require either an amendment or Supreme Court appointees who think money isn't speech. Hah! Hello, Iran...

  • can anyone find that business week article he mentions? I'm still looking...

  • How can you assume that? Because he said something you didn't know?

  • He said something that I know to be false.

  • What's that then?

  • I was interested too so I did a LexisNexis search. It's from a May 23rd, 1994 article titled, "WHY AMERICA NEEDS UNIONS BUT NOT THE KIND IT HAS NOW" (caps not mine). If you want a copy let me know and I"ll email it to you.

  • Yes, we need genuine, democratic unions. In being democratic, the unions would necessarily be socialist in their veiws on worker control. But what we have now are unions that kiss the feet of industry and capitalist parties to the detriment of all the working class and the planet as a whole (auto unions lobbying against increase fuel efficiency, etc.)

  • his has a book called "class warfare" in which you should be able to find the reference

i might check it out from the library too

  • Absolutely great lecture!

There's a lot of infos to digest and to remember

    N.Chomsky's great contribution to consciousness

    Thanks for posting this!

  • As long as Americans are willing to be stepped on by Our OWN ELECTED WHITE HOUSE AND CONGRESS, this crap will continue. We are bigger, Stronger and are the Backbone of Our Country. Wake up, get involved and contact Your Congressmen and Women, and let your voice be heard. It will be an inspiring experience.

  • I like ur additude, but is it not your local congressman who keeps this cycle of basic slavery going?

  • Did you listen to a damn thing he has been saying? Do you understand the concept of "Shadow?"

  • i assume he means the people in the gov.

  • i could tell you are an idiot, what he means by the "shadow" concept is, the concentrated wealth held by the few elites that really dictate policy in the US. go read some history before trying to understand chomsky.

  • "i could tell you are an idiot", lol.

  • @demik027 Wtf are you talking about? Of course that is what he meant. Don't call me an idiot when you don't even understand what I said.

  • thank god for the internet witch can bring this information 2 the masses in a way even the dumbest listener can understand

i read more than i watch youtube, but most do not. therefore, im at a loss as to why more people have not listened to this priceless lecture.

  • unfortunately, many peoople are too busy reading mindless diatribe like US weekly to notice or care about topics like the ones he discusses.

It comes down to that pesky bell curve, and the middle of it is our intellectual enemy.

  • Its a travesty that this video has only got 636 views it should be required viewing for all workers!

  • Workers under state oriented capitalism are marginalized from what matters. They are indoctrinated during their on and off work hours by either labor or sports... The only difference between slavery in the 1800s and good chunk of the 1900's is the name change to "employees" keeping the slavery basic rules intact.

  • @geilbear very true. I am hanging on every word.

  • @geilbear search youtube fairtax, solution for the middle class
