  • THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING!

  • 14:02

    'Tis but a flesh wound!

  • @Kageryushi Monty Python! No one acknowledged the reference so I felt I had to lol.

  • I got so pissed when I thought the saves were gone. I almost sent the game back.

  • Holy crap at 3:35 ! Soul Reaver underworld screams!

  • kinda hard to believe that Nintendo-yep, the Nintendo behind such kiddy classics as the Super Mario series, Punch-Out & StarFox-was able to concoct this digital descent to dementia! it'd been cool if one of the Sanity Effects woulda been a zombified Mario or Luigi chewing at the flesh of the corpse of one of his Mushroom Kingdom pals while you helplessly watch. too bad that Silicon Graphics got disbanded late last year, but we can still write Nintendo about a sequel.

  • @triplestar100 Yep, in fact I believe it was the first M-rated game that Nintendo published themselves. But I thought Silicon Knights (the game's developer) was still around? In fact I read an article not too long ago that they were looking to consider some "highly-requested" titles. Of course nothing confirmed, but we can dream :D

  • @triplestar100 "In November 2011, Silicon Knights Knights' claimed they wanted to focus on one of their most requested titles for the next generation of consoles. This combined with the fact Nintendo had trademarked the title once again, spawned rumours that another Eternal Darkness game would be made as a launch title for the Wii U."

    they were never disbanded.

  • 21:54 sweet merciful batman!!!!! D:

  • this game apparently has a lot of gamer WTF moments

  • 21:54

    NO NO HOLY FUCK, NO.

  • @The1stVolc Hahaha, yeah that about sums up my reaction when I first saw that one too XD

  • @The1stVolc Yes. Indeed. Fuck that one :(

  • some of them are supposed to happen tho, not really sanity effects but there to scare the shit out of u

  • @stevenbelmont Yeah definitely, some of them like the phone call from Edward will happen regardless, but I threw 'em in there just for the heck of it :)

  • @SuperHobbit89 there was 1 in the mirror but i don't know if it was there or just my mind screwing up

  • 6:19 "Hey nice ass babe"

  • The blue screen is the most hilarious of them all..

  • @Cougarkit Yep! The "screensaver" pops up if your controller is left idle long enough and if your sanity is low enough. Pressing any button brings you back into the game

  • Rule 1 of Eternal Darkness: This isn't happening.

  • Is #6 the screen saver one? where you set your controller down and sit back?

  • The bathtub and the hanging man. These freaked me out. Also, does anyone remember the face at the end of Condemned 2?

  • #19: for those of you that know the anime... Oyashiro-sama, anyone? :3

  • wait, i can imagine a fucked up insanity event. imagine a douchebag skeleton pops up at a door you need to get through, and demands you gather 5 random items or he wont let you pass.

  • holy shit this was uploaded on my birthday...

  • @solar464 In that case, happy birthday! :)

  • This must have taken a while. Thanks for this!

  • I've never played this game. And I knew about that deleting files things. And even though I KNEW it was just playing, my heart fell into my stomach. Oh my GOD, I'd hate playing this game. I'd love to watch someone else play it whilst knowing all these tricks in it, however, heheh.

  • @SpoonyChan Oh nice! If you're interested feel free to check out my Let's Play of the game. There are links at the end of this video :D

  • the ammunition is a lie.

  • Some of them are kinda funny.

  • Press CRTL ALT DEL to try and assert authourity over the operating system in a futile attempt to regain control.

    LOL!

  • 02:28

    oh god

to this day i thought it was a fortunate bug

  • @Pornohamster Hahaha, it's definitely a good one. One of my favorites! :)

  • Oh, nevermind. I see you've wrote it down the discription xD

  • @Xalotha Ah yeah sorry about that, looking back it isn't that noticeable at first glance. I wish there was a way to boost the audio levels of the sound effects without also making the background noises louder.

  • @SuperHobbit89 It's ok xD Many of those I've never seen :o I remember when my friend played it at my house and both the audio and the tv thing happend. xD Very unique game-style. I hope they make more kinds of this in the future in other scary games.

  • @Xalotha I hear ya! As far as I know there still aren't definite plans for a sequel to this game, but we'll see what happens :)

  • I didn't quite see what was happening at #19. Can someone tell?

  • Oh man I'll never forget the first time I played the game and saw #40 and #42... *shudders* Thanks for uploading this :D

  • @BlueShadowRealm My pleasure! And yeah I know exactly what you mean, even after seeing them countless times over the years I still get goosebumps.

  • The sanity effects are awesome. What more can I say? If I ever see this game on the shelf at my local store again, I'll definitely consider picking it up, despite seeing how everything would go in the game already.

  • #6

    WTF?!?!?!

I never got that one! That came out of nowhere, I mean..... FUCK!

  • @Westernden Hahaha, that was my reaction as well! Since it acts as a "screensaver" it only happens when your controller is left idle. I stumbled upon it one time when I got up to go to the bathroom.

  • I stopped watching right after #41. I didn't want to get scared again. O_O

If Silicon Knights does make a sequel, I'd like to see not only new sanity effects, like, say, monsters coming back to life the second you kill them, but also all the old ones come back with variations on some. Also, wasn't there a sanity effect where the game would "reset" and show the PS2 startup screen? Probably not. Probably my sanity meter in need of refilling...again.

  • @KG7777 Hmm, I've never seen it show the PS2 startup screen. The only "game reset" sanity effect I've seen was the one at #4 where it shows the Edgar Allen Poe intro screen

  • @KG7777

Ahh Silicon Knights made this. No wonder I recognize the sound effects from Legacy of Kain. Such a great game company. Completely underrated :(. Sucks that they're gone....

  • thanks for doing this. i'll be honest, i quite watching the LP after the... Charlemagn era guy.. i cant remember his name. anyway, the game seemed to start getting repeatitive for me. i was mainly watching for the awsome insanity effects. Silicon Knights was very clever with those. i love them!

and thanks for uploading this. now i can see all the fun sanity effects! :D

  • @Gefallener08 My pleasure! And yeah I can understand seeing it as a bit repetitive. Beyond a certain point it's not as exciting of a game to watch someone else play, and I suppose survival-horror games are tricky like that. Glad you liked this video though, this was definitely my most ambitious project yet

  • Thanks for this! Ironically I had just started watching an LP of this Saturday lol

  • @CopyNinjalv3 Oh nice! I hope this didn't spoil too much of it, the game itself is pretty impressive

  • I would legitimately be afraid of that delete all saves one. the audio sync one seems pretty good.

  • @mattmattmattm Haha, oh man I'll never forget the first time I saw that file deletion one. Definitely one of the most clever sanity effects in the game.
