Just talking with my friend about this the other day. 2000 is considered old school now,but in back 2000 we were like 88-94 is old skool. Time fly's at a blink of an eye! BTW Dope Mix!
@knightclassic1@superlokful I agree with both of you guys, but we're are also dealing with a new generation of hip hop fans. In 96. Old school was Fat Boys,RUn DMC, Big Daddy Kane(Even though he still was relavant). Some people were just discovering rap music in 1999. Flash forward 10 years later thats old school to them. Plus good vs bad sounding is subjective to say the least.
@nwatts88 thecomment i made was really just a personal opinion of mine , no need to take what i type so seriously , it's just that i'm an old school head and i prefer 80s and 90s hip hop. peace and love y'all.
@306fatboy true, in my opinion also the best years of hip hop was the 80s and 90s, but hip hop died for me in about '97. It's not really dead, it's more like in a coma, and i hope some true niggas step up one day and bring it back...but i don't think that's possible. Real niggas recognize real.
@rychartz I'll go for 96 as a last year of Hip Hop Era from me, Especially Hip hop died when Southern Hip Hop started to become popular from then til Current. Very Sad.
@Ostee1 rap is gone but the rappers that are still good are ice cube mc eiht eminem i think young jeezy good but some of rap and hip hop is gone cuz all the dead rappers are gone
@Drifting2458 yea... theyre gd of course but those are the MAINstream MCs, in other words; the ones we re still lucky the radios and tvs would play which is 2% of the time... Kweli, Mos,Common, Roots,Jean Grae, Joell Ortiz, Strong Arm Steady, to name so few!
Fuck RADIO, MTVS, BETs,... they just out there to manipulate kids' minds now...
So the solution, in my opinion, is to take over those Corps, Im finna own MTV! bring truth to the masses!
Now thats a noble business venture! WHOS WIT ME?! ha!
@Ostee1 lol im wit u mayne dis new school shit sucks thats y im trying to put it down for dj screw so i can by some old scholl turntabels and for dem old rappers that died so make my own tv show for dat kno im sayin
@Drifting2458 sounds good man! let me know when that tv show is up n runnin... im sure it'll be good. ONE!!! by the way, we ll be fine. rock n roll went thru the same shit. lol. remember some of those 80s songs? tough it wasnt as bad. so as far as Hip Hop goes, i think we re just unlucky that its populatity exploded in such a materialistic era in America (Reaganomics and all...), add to that immense rise in power for the Corporations,...
