Judo is good, but BJJ is much better. For real world fighting and self defense, train BJJ. For the Olympics, train Judo.

real world is better to end with a powerfull throw (judo) instead of going to the ground with weak throws (bjj) and THEN go for the submission.

Um, okay, and when you're punched in the face on the street, just throw the guy and tell him he lost the fight after he gets up.

First cut the distance with elbows protecting your face (he can't punch your elbows) enter the clinch then throw ...

he'll never get up so quickly after a throw like kata guruma, ura nage, uchi mata, first the psycologichal effect that he is not aware what happened, then the pain on the back (because they never trained ukemi and the solid floor), meanwhile YOU can kick or punch on his face or run and that's all.

Obviously this only can be done if you're a good judoka.

well not street fights really but i have only fight on school i dont need to lie. there i only win by karate striking xD and that's true.

i like to investigate a lot and what i said about throwing it's because i asked many teachers (sambo, judo, wrestling) including a bjj one and they told me something like "a good throw ends the fight" and lot's of people agree with that.

Even Bas Rutten and he is authority =)

Just to mention a killer one: ippon seoi nage can actually kill you ... if you don't complete all the circle and make the agressor land on his head would be devastating, this can also be done with kata guruma, suplex, etc those are variations.

@bosszeroboss `well, Judo is a devence sport. Sowe when sommebody you attack you can do judo because it isnt against the wal. So just throw the guy on the street and say that he lost the fight :D

This is my favorite sports moment ever! I watched it live on TV in Japan, and my friends and I went BERZERK when she won! We styaed up all night drinking and cheering in the streets with thousands of other people, it was amazing.
