Hello Matt, As a new player Ive been watching your videos for over a year now. Finally got round to sending a note to say how much I enjoy your playing. rags 1939
Wow, Matt! Just WOW. All is marvelous, but Tiger Rag reduces me to tears. I've got a lot of work with my old MayBell to even approach what you can do. I'm floored.
Thanks for all your excellent and inspiring posts.
matt you are one of the best ulk players out there and your a gent, you have got time for people all the best mate and thanks ,from now on thats how i do the fan stroke.
matt i have watched you on you tube now for the last few years and think your a great player , in fact i spoke to you about a ulk i bought at the gfc a steveenson and you were really helpfull, matt could you please tell me ,when doing the fan stroke is it down with the ring finger then thumb then up with first i know you play great so im asking you to clear it up for me thanks matt
The Uke I am playing in this clip is in fact a Stevenson as well!
The way I do the fan stroke, is by first, going down with the Thumb. Then going up with the first finger, and then going down with the little finger.
When playing the Fan Stroke, it is imitating the 'sound' of the split stroke. This is why it creates an illusion of the sound being dubbed over, as its the same sound as when playing the Split Stroke.

Brilliant! Am watching all your post and loving them. At 55 I have bought my first ukukele and will have my first lesson workshop next week. Can't wait!
Just great. What a fun instrument - although could never see myself reach Matt's proficiency. Just love the work of George Formby and the sound of the banjo uke.
10 out of 10 for the faultless banjolele performance. Fantastic. Totally bowled me over, I hope I can learn to be that good. 3 out of 10 for the singing [cough!]

You're the only person I've seen/heard who is as good as George Formby.
