Steve Perry's range is so different than Arnel's. Perry has a broader one. I will give credit where it is due though, At least Arnel has worked on his pronunciation of the words and sounds a little better. He will never be better than Steve perry though

That is why they hired Arnel-and got all the publicity because of the back story of how they found him, etc. If he had sounded totally different, no one would have bought the remakes of the Revelation album, or come to a single concert. People are STARVED for the original sound. Other than 'After All these Years', I haven't seen a single 'new; song on youtube from Revelation.

I watched this entire video knowing full well it would leave me uncomfortable, and in question, of the present Journey players! I do not respect the intent and motives behind the replacement of Steve Perry unless Steve Perry is OK with it. The whole scenario and what has been published about this situation leaves a knot in my stomach.

1.Damn! Arnel IS an extremely talented performer! I've NEVER seen a better Steve Perry vocal impersonation! AP's imitations of rock singers with The Zoo got him the JRNY gig. He seems to have a promising career ahead of him as a Perry impersonator.
2.Augeri's appearance and name are similar to SP, but SA sings with an original voice.
Arnel Does a good job, but Steve's voice, there's something more about his voice, i cannot explain. The thing is I can always pick when Steve is singing with my eyes closed and my 11 years old son does the same. Steve did this live too and sounded just as great as the recording. Thanks for posting.

arnel was hand-picked to sing for journey by neal schon. arnel was flown to america to audition and he aced it. i've no doubt in my mind that the band chose arnel simply because he can belt a song out sounding amazingly like steve.
Imitation is always an interesting thing.....originality counts for so much more.....and remember Steve Perry wrote or co-wrote much of what is Journey music.....
