I'm watching this way too often and it's taken over my channel. It's so cute but I think the lyrics are a tad threatening and Cliff jr and the drummer (who looks like Conan O'Brien without the pompador) have strangely lifelike eyes. I still want to marry Virgil Tracy and live on Tracy Island !
So adorable ! I love it ! Does anyone have the song the band performed in the episode where Lady Penelope and Tin Tin go to the night club in Switzerland?
@ianbillericay It's a dream sequence set in a strange Jetsons type future. They basically had Cliff playing his own fictional child which they obviously predicted wrongly lol
@ianbillericay He has an army of clones hidden in the Millenium dome and periodically transfers his coincence into a new one. How else doy you think he never seems to get older?
Definitely the best part of Thunderbirds are Go. I didn't understand that part of the film when I was young, but love it now.
The special-effects are great; the guitar being launched from the planet and Mars exploding at 2:22 were effects George Lucas must have wished he could have matched in Star Wars.
The lyrics are a bit dubious, but I doubt Cliff Richard (Jr) would really be bothered about what a girl does, after all he's a bachelor boy and that's the way he'll stay :p
Have to agree. The film felt dull in the first half, but the whole Shadows sequence (let alone the scene after which foreshadowed Captain Scarlet with the monsters on Mars) took the movie.
my mum brought this film for my lil brother and i remember this!! its soooo stupid hehe. the cliff richard puppet is so much better that the real one lol.
He didn't "confess" to anything, although he did confirm that he has a gay male life partner, without actually saying he was his gay male life partner's gay male life partner. If that makes any sense.
Gerry and syliva anderson are british, they made childrens programs from the 50's, twizzle, fireball XL5, Stingray, Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, Joe 90, Secret service, UFO, Space 1999, they used alot of american actors living in the U.K for the voices, and made it very american to sell to the american T.V companies, very successfully, from your comments, it was sooo big in the U.K in the 60's and then again in the 90's when it was rerun. Most of the puppets (as we call them here) were binned.
This was a British Children's Sci Fi TV Series made in the mid 1960's. Reprised in 2003 then made into a movie starring Humans in 2004. The human version was not a success.
But Gary Anderson and Sylvia Anderson who made it (I think) are American. The live action movie wasn't a great success among fans because they got almost everything wrong and it was a crap script. Good director and actors but everything else sucked. They ruined the Thunderbirds. (Yes I am very protective of my marrionettes and models on string)
Seems we did the same with Godzilla when we (the american's) bought the rights to the Japanese classic character. Do you know if The Thunderbirds (original marrionettes) has been put on DVD??
I don't know,I thought the movie was pretty good myself.I didn't like the change in the uniforms or that they chose someone like Ben Kingsley for the Hood, but other than that it was good.
Lol!-Cliff Richard & The Shadows in 'Thunderbirds'.It was good backing music for International Rescue but did nothing to halt Cliff's inability to restore the chart successes of yesteryear!.
By the way, I DO have this movie and it's AWESOME!! (It's ironic that this movie came out just before Thunderbirds were cancelled during their initial 1960s run!)
This reminds me of the Scopitones videos that were popular in the UK & Europe back in the 60's. I think the puppets of Cliff Richards the Shadows have uncanny likenesses to the real folks. Scary indeed!!
Your video clip is great and I've rated it as awesome. Please check out mine on some trading cards of 1960's chart topping stars: Cliff Richard, Elvis Presley, Adam Faith, Billy Furry, Frank Sinatra, Lonnie Donegan, and Shirley Bassey.
Only Gerry Anderson could come up with a song that implies dating violence.
