  • Gives me cold chills

  • jeff karstens -____-

  • Bob Sheppard is GREAT. The camera work sucks.

  • i was very lucky to hear Mr. Sheppard in person. He really added an air of dignity to every name. I even got to hear him warn the fans not to "throw objects onto the field, or face ejection from the stadium" at a very rowdy Yankees-Red Sox game in 2005

  • number 20.......jorge POSAD"O"

  • Bob's most unique practice was that he never ROOTED for the Yankees when he announced them to the plate. Every other major league stadium announcer offers a dry and emotionless announcement for the visiting team and then a bombastic delivery for the home team with obnoxious enthusiasm similar to World Wrestling Federation. Bob was a true class act announcer NOT a cheerleader. One of a kind...R.I.P. Bob. My Yankee's years in NY (1976 - 1982) are cherished memories thanks to you.

  • Rest in peace Mr. Sheppard.

  • RIP Bob!

  • Rest in peace, Mr. Sheppard.

  • Will Miss you Bob ,will remember always , the yankee stadium voice

  • RIP Bob, cool hearing the Imperial March with the yankee introductions ... :)

  • A great lose to baseball, I've been to quite a few games at Yankee stadium, and simply loved Bob's dramatic, slow distinctive line=-up. His voice will be missed! (Hell, I am Phillies fan, and Ill miss it.)

Sheppard was a class act. Rest in peace

  • Number One, Of All Time,Bob Sheppard, Number One. R.I.P Bob You Will Be Missed!!

  • R.I.P Bob!

  • Now he's back doing his original job, being the Voice of God in Heaven. RIP.

  • @LancerJak When I walk through the pearly gates. I want god to let Bob Sheppard announce. "Ladies and Gentlemen, please join me in welcoming our newest member" LOL haha!!

  • He will truely be missed. His voice was said to be like the voice of god.

  • Bob Sheppard was one of the best! I remember hearing him in 1979 while I was on vacation in New York with my mother! He will be missed!

  • RIP Bob Sheppard - truly the 'voice of god'. Thank you good sir.

  • RIP BOB, GOD BLESS YOU!!

  • RIP Bob, games will never feel the same again without you

  • RIP BOB

  • I so miss Bob Sheppard, and there will never be another public address announcer as good as he was. Yankees home games just aren't the same without his wonderful voice (though at least it didn't completely go away, as you still thankfully hear a recording of it whenever Derek Jeter comes to bat), and the old Yankee Stadium these days. )-:

  • I hope they play recordings of Bob Sheppard for the rest of my life. Ill NEVER forget walking into the Old Stadium as a kid during the championship years and hearing him announce the lineups. He truely is the Voice of God, and im SOOO Sad he had to retire =( We Love ya Bob!

  • He was 97 here! The voice of God

  • hell ya

  • keep your damn camera still

  • Great audio of Bob Sheppard but I it looks like a 5 year old has shooting the video. :)

  • Lately, I have not really been the biggest baseball fan. But I'm a huge fan of Mr. Sheppard and all he has done with his marvelous voice. He is a staple not only in baseball, but in American History. Simply put, that old man is a stud!!!

  • thats funny i like the music they're playing...darth vader's theme..LOL!

  • its such a shame Bob Sheppard couldnt be there this year man.

  • it wont feel the same without him :/

  • that was a little below the belt there man.

  • cant wait to hear, 1st basemen # 25 Mark Teixera

  • I love the Yankees and Bob Sheppard is a legend!!! I can't wait for baseball season, and hopefully he'll be well enough to announce in April. He truly is one of a kind.

  • Was great to hear his voice last month for the White Sox final games, even if it was a recording. Saw my first game at The Stadium in '68, another in '72 and didn't see another one until '04 . . . and all of that time Sheppard was on the PA. Awesome!

  • bob sheppered is awsome i hope he comes back for the final home game at yankee stadium and i hope hes back next year

  • @redsoxsuckhaha hes dead ;(

  • @redsoxsuckhaha me too

  • The best PA announcer in all of sports. Has a great voice for the job and he's one of the nicest guys you could ever meet.

  • It's amazing. Some people had Mantle growing up, some DiMaggio, I had Mattingly. WE ALL HAD BOB SHEPPARD.

  • lol, yea, i remember my first game I was four, in 1996, i heard him announce the lineup, it was amazing!

  • @pmcm71

I agree. We all had Bob Sheppard, the "Voice of Yankee Stadium". I am a Don Mattingly fan as well.

    R.I.P. Bob Sheppard (1910-2010).

  • Apparently, Sheppard should be back later this summer.... they should really get him on recording nd stuff 4 the new stadium as morbid as that sounds...cuz that other dude just tries 2 hard (the guy whose been doing it this year)

  • Hopefully in the new stadium they don't have some silly impersonation of Bob, but have someone new and allow that person to be the new voice of Yankee Stadium. Bob Sheppard is in a class of his own and should not and will not EVER be duplicated!

  • I know the other guy does it as a tribute but personally I can't stand it. I don't know if he's the only one but at least Jeter has a recording of Bob Sheppard introducing him.

  • i think they should make a voice changer microfone, for unfortunatly when he dies, the new stadium to have his voice

  • WHAT A VOICE!

  • the voice of god.... i mean

  • the sound of god

  • BTW Looking foward to hearing Mr. Sheppard @ New Yankee Stadium in '09

  • Sheppard is in pretty poor health, he is 97, and is not going to do many games if any in 2008, and he is not going to be in the new stadium.

  • Agreed, He wont be in the new stadium but It would be gre!!at if he can close out the old one in october on his 98th birthday !! Nobody does it better !!!.....for my bob sheppard impersonation type on "chris Pavia"

  • hey assholes, how about some hope. god wont take him away from us and let him call in the new stadium

  • Thanks for sharing this!

    Great Seats!

  • Very appropriate nowadays with the "darkside" theme for the Sox. The new "Evil Empire". As a Dodger Fan used to be sympathetic towards 'em........No More.......F-U J.D. Drew but much love for Papi and Jeter. I'm SO sick of ESPN overhyping these two. But To Both Sides, Thank you so much.... Boston for Frank McCourt & N.Y. for Joe Torre.

  • hahaha is that the star wars theme??? cool!

  • bob sheppard was cute wen he was young..oh wat a hottie

  • I Love Bob Sheppard, his voice is one of a kind. Every single time i go to the stadium i look forward to hearing him. No one can ever replace him, he is the bestt!! His voice is so clear & precise.

  • i was at that game. 97 year old sheppard is a legend.

  • Sheppard is my great grandfather. As a kid in Phoenix, it brings chills to me to hear this.

  • You are a lucky person to know him. Not only is it a dream so many have, but it's also more than we could ever imagine. You will treasure his voice more than ever, I'm sure.

  • It's cool, actually. On Bob Sheppard Day back in 2000 when the Yankees gave him a monument in Monument park and all of that, I got to go on the field. We're default Diamondback fans because we live right there, but our hearts are always with the Yankees. He should do the announcements on the subway trains headed up to yankee stadium. "Ladies and gentlemen...stand clear of the closing doors, please...stand clear".

  • That is such a good idea!!!

  • what a terrible video. the clapping is unbearable.

  • Camera work is awful.

  • the person who shot this video was drunk

  • bob sheppard does not sound like he is 96 he sounds like he is like 60 years younger he is my favorite adderess announcer go yankees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The voice of God.

  • 96 year old Bob Sheppard still sounds great after all these years

  • no doubt ....he is simply amazing ...get out to hear him as much as you can as he wont be there much longer !!
