In my personal opinion, as a whole, and cross the entire range, Mercedes Benz create the best cars out of all manufacturers.

Cadillac is a joke...they only make ONE, i repeat, ONE car worth mentioning, and thats CTS. Everything else they make is complete rubbish. And even the CTS cant compete with E class at anything except at speed. Mercedes makes 21!!! car models , most of them available with range of at least 7-8 engines...CTS comes in 2 models...sedan or coupe..V6 or V8...and thats it.

It did set 7:56 on Nurburgring...while having racing compound tyres on it, and having the suspension / camber / toe-in/toe-out, and all other settings set FOR that track, so it was not a stock car. Besides... RS4, RS6, M3, M5, and even the 2,2 ton heavy Panamera beat that time...

I think it will actually be called the E65 AMG in 2010, or at least they will have a high-performance E63 and an exotic E65. The E63 will get to 60mph in 4.1 seconds, and have well over 500bhp. The proposed E65 will get to 60 in 3.8 seconds, and will have well over 600bhp. Can't wait!

the 335i is a nice car. like i said its personal preference - not sure why you have a merc if you like BMW so much - i prefer merc cabins, especially when you get to the flagship models. like i said the reliability in the new mercs is improving. once again its personal preference, look at Jeremy Clarkson, he has driven more cars than most and what is his daily car? an slk55 AMG and b4 that he had a SL55... And the new 63 AMG's handle their torque just fine. but hey we like different things, end.

Mercs are are comfortable and fast everyday cars while BMWs are fast but not too comfy. Trust me, I had a BMW 5 series and a Mercedes-Benz E-class and I much prefer the Mercedes-Benz over-all which I still have and have sold the my 530i 6 years ago. Now I have 2 E-classes - a 2001 E320 and a 2007 E550 which I got pre-owned this year.

End of the day its personal preference to what you want in a car, if im buying a high performance supersaloon i will always go with AMG, BUT unlike most people i still respect and admire BMW and the M cars. @chris', True i have read a lot of reviews, bt I have also driven and been driven in many BMW's and Mercs, and my parents own a 5 series and an E-class so i have first hand experiences with both brands. The ride quality in a merc is generally more comfortable than in the equivalent BMW, the bottom of the range models and sport models are exceptions. As for people buying an M3 over an AMG well i have not seen that many new M3's on the streets... and i live in London. Also not the Merc costs more.

IMO merc and BMW are different in that the merc is powerful and fast without sacrificing passenger comfort - hence the are fantastic GT cars, BMW have harder suspension etc for a sportier drive even in their non sport models as so are better at taking corners etc. day to day usage the merc wins, and the AMG's rule for a piratical supercar crusher. M-Power has 2many problems.

I havent driven an SLR...but i could amagin a M5 or the M6 could match it among speeds...mayb not top speed but as far as track speeds...of course like said before me, the bimmershas alot better suspension for the track, but as far as straight up speed the SLR would overtake...of course the new M3 with the hp and the twin turbo could keep up witht the m5 and m6...oh by the way have you checked out the 1 series...small yes...but alot less weight...can outrun the 911 turbos on the track with ease

i can understand that these three companies all strive to be the best and most prestigeous, but it really isnt all about the power, audi had not released a super saloon for a while so the came out with the mad rs6, but the economies are changing and so is the market, thats why bm have said that the new m5 may have a twin turbo v8 rather than a v10, i would say power is going to stay the same but how the cars develope it is going to be the change, anyways it doesnt matter we will just have to see

slc and sl black will get 700 bhp, and sl black limited to 738 lbs ft. their diesel sedans will get 50 mpg, which is better than the prius, and you wont have to pay half the price of the car replacing the battery nor know the battery caused more damage than a land rover during production. s klasse puts heartrate 5-6 bpms lower than lexus and bmw, and their quality is simply unmatched. a 1976 merc diesel was a toyota away from 3 million miles, it went 2.8 million. new ones are even better.
