I remember watching this on Countdown and wishing I was in the crowd but as I was only 8 at the time and living in a tiny town in the middle of South Australia it just wasn't going to be - I cried my eyes out. I think they performed I only want to be with you on this episode as well. Still love them completely to this day and especially Woody!!!
Is that Ian playing with them too? Lord if I had to pay my mom for ever par of jeans she added tartan stripes too, I'd owe her about $475,000 by the time you add interest.
This was my first Scottish band I fell in love with. I loved their music and still do. But these days its another Scottish band I follow, Runrig, the very opposite spectrum musically and image-wise. I can't believe how both bands whose memebers are about the same age played during the same periods and traveled such different paths of success. Still, BCR will always hold a sweet spot in my heart for their Days of Olden Glory.
Yeah as 444Luca said, this was written by Vanda & Young who penned countless hits for John Paul Young(Love is in the air), The Easybeats(Friday On My Mind)and most of AC/DC etc
I just got this song back today and could not get enough of it, just as back then. I still love these guys they were better than given credit. Because it was just flat good music. I listened to the Greatest Hits at least three times today!!
I am a 43 year old Danish woman who was a big BCR fan when I was a teen. I got to meet Les and was the happiest girl until I saw him with his boyfriend John. It broke my poor teenage heart. Saw the BCR in concert about 15 years ago, where Les and Ian looked like a couple of old junkies. That was such a sad sight to see.
But I still love the music and can still get the same feelings I got when I listend to once upon a star, you're a woman and all of the other great songs they did.
Its really sad to see them now. They were chewed up &spat out by everyone around them in the biz. Can you you imagine working that hard, all those tours, records & winding up penniless,. Arista, their record label have withheld royalties since the 70s, Their shady manager ripped them off...its awfull-considering how much joy they brought us that play dives to make a living.
They didn't write this one though - it was written by a couple of Australians - John Paul Young and someone else I think?? Anyway, another wonderful BCR vid - am so loving this nostalgia trip - feel like I'm 12 again! Thanks for posting it.
i was born in 67 so was a bit young for BCR but old enuf at the time to be well into them. Johnny Rotten became my idol: antithesis of these guys i guess....but i remember before he came on the scene there was this lot. And while i love songs like "all of you..." etc this was the period where they excelled ("Wouldnt you like it?": what a song!). thanks for this posting of their best song: they could really write songs!
actually glen matlock the original bass player (and now again) formed the pistols as a competiton to the bay city rollers and wanted more of this direction in the band ... thus why he was booted out and sid came in ... also in punk history the ramones went on record to say that their hit song ... rock n roll radio was a blatant rip off of the rollers ... s-a-t-u-r-d-a-y night ! rock n rock n roll radio ... lets go

You are never too old or too young to be a BCR fan! Their music is timeless. I love them today as much if not more than I did 30 years ago!
