@SamStrube The answer to all of your questions is that Chevy does alot better job supporting the aftermarket than dodge or ford does. That, and basing almost every single engine off the same design for 40+ years, so there are a TON of them out there, doesn't hurt either.
Could have easily put any number of "small block" ford motors in there and been just as fast... it would have just cost more money.

No, you mean you wanted to be a cheap ass. Everyone knows you can go just as fast with Ford or Dodge or any other major manufacturer. Chevy parts are just cheaper.
@HOTROD74GremlinX i agree with you 100% should've been powered by ford,nice car though i have nohing agaisnt chevy they have some good for instance i like that their distributor and their altenator has everything built in,i like fords one wire starter and 9" rear,power can be made by anybody with any brand engine if you know what you're doing.
