Our americana, lemon does the egg song everyday and she's stopped laying eggs for now, but we always are saying when she sings the egg song that she's cheering one of the other girls along!

Well, I guess we didn't see exactly the moment when the egg is layed, because I'm sure that she has been extremly concentrated when the final push is going on, but the moment just after this, when she was announcing that she has layed her first egg! :)

And, I must say that Liz is very beutiful!

My barred rock hens just started laying too! I have 14 hens and 4 of them are laying, so I can't wait for the 10 others to lay! I have some videos of the, you should check them out! :)

I can't wait for my flock to start laying, it seems so far every time i am convinced I have a hen he starts crowing a little time later. So I am patiently waiting!

Most of our hens w/ be 27 weeks on november 17th here in michigan.. Will hens lay eggs during the winter months. And do they spend most of there time in the coup during this cold months in Michigan??

Ooh shes so pretty! I love the sounds they make when they are in the nesting box. Nice set up your chickens have. I know mine prefer privacy when they lay.

I have several large nesting boxes, but my big fatty Barred Rock Hen Penelope squeezes her big butt into the smallest one. lol!! Shes so silly.

The plastic egg encourages the hen to lay her egg there... verses somewhere in the yard where you can't find it.
