  • Hi rich, I own a 02 s series auto ,I was wondering if you knew the tread size for the fittings one the trans cooler lines. Thank you

  • @karlakatie1522 I do not know the tread size of that cooler line.If it was not snowing right now i could check the car i have outside for you.

  • My dodge (grand caravan) is leaking transmission fluid :(

  • Got a new computer but it's still not shifting wright could you tell me what it might be thanks and god bless!

  • @Gunshooter115 Automatic transmissions are something i do not get involved in unless there is a leak or there are trouble codes.

  • Could ou help me I have a 1999 dodge Durango 4x4 had my transmission rebuilt about a year an half then it wouldn't shift into 2nd to toke to get fix was told that the sensors where bad so I had them repair but was told I needed another computer so I got a used one worked great for about a week then transmission went out again took it back said they fix it couldn't find what's wrong with it to get another computer because would shift ok then had trouble shifting so I got a new computer but I'm

  • when i take off from a dead stop the car shakes till it go's into second gear then it is fine. but if i take of from a dead stop and just barely push the gas pedal it is fine could it be the transmission control solenoid iv replaced both of the cv axles and the control arm bushings and sway arm links and has not helped at all

  • Thank you so much for all this information. What would your next move have been if there were still a leak?

  • @docker96 Cooler lines possibly.

  • Billy Crystal?

  • The relearn process can be done with out the DRBIII.The Snap On Modis can do it too. With Chrysler automatics, don't use dextron and use the ATF+4 fluid only. The Chrysler transmissions shift and work better with the ATF+4 fluid. The middle bolt, remove the speed sensor and can get to the bolt with a socket

  • Hi richpin, when you replaced the shift solenoid did you had to perform the "Quick Learn Procedure" with a DRBIII scan tool in order for the car to work. I have the Repair Manual from Dodge and it says that that procedure is necessary when replacing the shift solenoid. I ask this question because I replaced the solenoid and the transmission is still stuck on 2nd. I have also replaced the oil and filter and also the input speed sensor and output speed sensor and still the transmission is stuck.

  • @Edwinb777 I must have got lucky because i did not do a relearn and the transmission shifted find after i did this work.

  • great video. can a shift solenoid cause a no reverse on a 95 civic?

  • 95 MX3 transmission (automatic 1.6L / 4 cyl.)

    Full with fluid

shifts OK into 1 and 2 .... but RPMs go up and up for 3rd and 4th (foot on gas accelerating), but the cars doesn't speed up .... i'm stuck on 1st and 2nd.

    -Solenoid problem ?

-Should i reset by disconnecting battery ?

-No OD light flashes in dashboard

    -No ''CHECK ENGINE'' light

    - No codes have been taken fron vehicule (we just added fluid to tranny)

    Thanks for any help ....

  • @AztecBodyart I am not a transmission expert therefore I do not have enough transmission expertize to give you a correct diagnosis on your problem.

  • Nice job.I have a 2001 Grand caravan 3.3 L. My transmission defaults to 1st gear sometimes. I was told it was a Transmission control solenoid, or, a solenoid on the firewall (expensive). I was told when it heats up a circuit opens and defaults to 1st gear. When it cools down she runs fine. I was quoted 400.00, 320.00 for the part, 80.00 labor. I would prefer to fix it, but not sure which solenoid to replace. Which one do you think it might be based on the symptom? Thanks..

  • @da324 I do not work on enough automatic transmissions to give you a definitive answer on this one.

  • wow! You look like a doctor performing surgery! Good thing she pulled through! Good show man. thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise. You're doing a fine thing and good always returns many fold. Keep up the great work!

  • That was a great video. Thanks for sharing some knowledge with the rest of us.

  • I absolutely love instructional vids where guys like this take you thru every step. This is super helpful! Thanks for putting this one on here!

  • yeah those bolts are like 50 inch pounds or something arent they?

  • @QUESTI0NSnANSWERS I do not remember the exact toque figure but it is not much.I use a 1/4 racket and everything went fine.

  • oh wow is that a 41TE? Solenoid looks just like the one ona 41TE

  • how much fluid will be lost, ?

  • @Filmaker25 very little.

  • Is this an automatic?

  • @Filmaker25 yes it is.

  • i have a code 756 on my tundra, ( i just purchased vehicle 92K MILES) and the tranny level was low refilled ( couldnt find where it was leaking from ) and code came back ( it wont shift in to OD ) all of the other shifts are nice and smooth, my question is..could the tranny be damaged, or can it still be saved by replacing the solenoid THANKS!!!!

  • @NewWorldCorp I do not do enough transmission work to give you a definitive answer on this one. That being said i would not think you did any damage seeing that it shifts normally .

  • Dodge minivans have this problem quite frequently too.

  • @briansmobile1 Thank you for letting everyone know that.

  • @richpin06a Richpin... you're awesome! It's no wonder you're so popular.

  • @briansmobile1 Everyone loves richpin.....haha

  • hi, the two connetions you removed and labelled when you removed the 8mm bolt from solenoid were the shift senors, also when you put back the new solenoid you should cover the diaphram with something to stop dirt dropping in during re-assembley

  • @ultim8brickie Thank you for letting me know that.

  • Nice video vary helpful, was wondering if this could be my problem. I have a 2001 ford escort zx2 and when it shifts into second it kinda shifts hard then it shifts early into third and will never shift into 4th inless in over drive.

  • @krujo81 I wish i could help but automatics are not my specialty.

  • @krujo81 I wish i could help but automatics are not my specialty.

  • How come you couldn't just replace that gasket if it was leaking? Was it also not shifting correctly?

  • thank you

  • great video Rich...i think this might be the same problem im having but hopefully it's just the pan gasket. gotta check first if it's leaking from up by the solenoid as you mentioned. now i gotta get my lazy butt off this computer n actually do some work. B-)

  • @310Sole At first i thought the same thing pan gasket but it turned out to be the control solenoid.

  • @richpin06a im not a mechanically inclined person so im starting an auto tech 101 class tomorrow..wish me luck..u got a cool lil accent. u must be from the east coast/eastern seaboard.

  • @310Sole Yes east coast central MA

  • great video, i'm going to replace mine on a plymouth voyager 2000 hope its as easy as you make it look, also i'm glad mine is under the vehicle, any big difference?

  • @princessroute66 I believe it should be the same for your voyager.

  • this is a great video , I hope to god I don't ever have problems with that thing. The solenoid. Golly you had to remove the throttle body ,too. Ah so that's the Solenoid, thing looks like something out of a horror movie, lol. How many miles should you get off of that thing?? Oh and what's the most I should pay for the part?

  • @Filmaker25 What shall we call it SCARY MOVIE 4.Should last a good 130,000 miles.It cost $150.00

  • this is a great video , I hope to god I don't ever have problems with that thing. The solenoid. Golly you had to remove the throttle body ,too. Ah so that's the Solenoid, thing looks like something out of a horror movie, lol. How many miles should you get off of that thing??

  • Hey, Richpin. Great video! Just a reminder to those out there that this model (2002) Dodge is a 4T which are one up from the 3T or 3 speed transmission which has the Trans. Lock-up Solenoid (TCC) located on the inside of the trans. You can only access it by dropping the pan. However, I find on 2002 and up that it is really convenient to have the shift module mounted on the outside. Any neon questions, just PM me. I have a 2001 neon that I work on most of the time.

  • @Blzbubable Great now i know were to go if i get stumped working on the neon.

  • @richpin06a Hey, Rich, for sure. Although, I gotta tell you that alot of your test methods and repair vids have helped me ALOT on my neon. Really good videos. I am just gonna say, I am a number one fan among many of your fans. So, I am always looking forward to any new work. I hope you will offer up your critique once I have some of my own vids up and running. I am working on a few -- they are in the editing process. Once again, thanks for doing this on youtube.

  • Transmissions eh? My car, a Toyota Camry of the 1996 vintage has trouble going into the overdrive when cold when it never has before. What do you think could be wrong? When it's really cold out this is worse but when the engine can warm up fast it's okay. I know overdrives are not supposed to work until the engine is hot, but the engine never has had an issue getting into that top gear before.

  • @ACTORDAVIDTRAN I am not going to pretend i know a lot about automatics which i do not i leave that to the pros.

  • @richpin06a Would you refer me to anyone on here that might know?

  • @ACTORDAVIDTRAN Gee i don't off hand.

  • @ACTORDAVIDTRAN : Hey, I am by no means a trans specialist but there are two issues to look at: first, the turbine speed sensor TSS and the Temperature fluid sensor TFS. Many 90s model trans. have these sensor s or solenoids, built into their design. You would have to check specifics on your model. I would start with the TFS as this can affect torque converter and lock-up when the sensor is not reading the ATF fluid correctly. I would also make sure your throttle cable is adjusted properly

  • i love dodges i had a 1994 dodge spirt with over 746.000 same engine and tranny i abused that car more than i abused my WIFE lol...

  • PS, this is a common problem on the Dodge Caravan too! Another quality Dodge product, like I said, Al Bundy drove a Dodge and look where that got him.

  • @studpuppy69 A fine daughter and peggy

  • @studpuppy69

If I remember correctly, there was an episode where his Dodge went over 1,000,000 miles.

  • @mtlh05 I remember that I saw it. The car ended up rolling backwards and resetting before he got the Viper. The point was, Dodge Chrysler products are just shit.

  • When removing and replacing the shift solenoid, wouldn't it have make the job easier if you removed the two little hoses and placed them out of the way?

  • @acscolo On the neon if those hoses are the original they have to be be cut off and replaced with new ones.

  • ur working anther pos neon lol

  • @crystalscan2002 i get it you are not a neon fan.....lol

  • @richpin06a Al Bundy drove a Dodge and it was POS. Let's not forget that past Neon you worked on, I believe you said it went through three transmissions?

  • @studpuppy69 In no way am i a fan of the neon.

  • @richpin06a no since i awlays here problems about them, this was was the successer tot the dodge colt. they have crappy defrosters etc, and they breakdown alot or aleast my moms did

  • cool rich

  • This solenoid pack seems to have an issue with leaks.
