  • I so remember this show!!!_ god this brings back memories

  • Epic!

  • Wheres the part where he slaps his shit?

  • It costs 400 thousand dollars to slap your shit...... for twelve seconds.

  • Who admits to the book actually spoiling the show for them? The book was quite adult by comparison.

  • OOOOOOOH MAN I REMEMBER WATCHING THIS AS A KID AND I REALLY REALLY MISS IT I JUST HOPE THEY BRING THIS BACK ON T.V AND MAKE A MOVIE OF IT KEEPING THE OPENING SONG. AHHHH THIS BRING BACK SO MUCH GOOD MEMORIES GOD I MISS THOSE YEARS.

  • @TonyVargasPo you can watch some eps on youtube and retrojunk sells some episodes in a collection, but they might be missing some. My wife bought me Grimms Fairy Tale Classics collection from that site. they're not official but it's better than nothing and relatively cheap

  • ha i remember every part of this opening now. ha.

  • After watching this, why are gnomes still hated in World of Warcraft? LOL

  • that wizard looks fucking bad ass

  • How about I slap your shit?

  • Whenever I see or here this I think of a sick day home from school......I wasn't really sick! BAM!

  • the 80's to mid-90's was the time when tv animation was still a profitable business with people who really cared. (Especially for European animation studio's and story tellers)

In those days it was still an art form, and children were happy to watch more toned down and more serious shows, unlike the flashy crappy shows kids get today. Created by producers who fear that if they stop being loud, bouncy and, let's be fair here; insulting to their intelligence, they'll lose the kid's attention.

  • @keniakittykat Well.....Effing....Said!

  • I've been watching the show with my fiancée, but it's the British masters, which have a different opening. The American opening makes the show look so much more exciting!

  • 0:40 HOW ABOUT I RAINBOW YOUR SHIT?

  • @BeekersSqueakers hahahahahahhahahaha

  • Wow! I haven't seen this in years!!!! This was back when Nick was the greatest show on TV history.

  • I loved this show as a kid.

  • I kinda remember this name, but for some reason, as soon as I saw the bunny's dancing, I got massive flashbacks...how does that work? lol! Thanks for uploading :)

  • Is it just me or did the 80's have the best cartoon opening themes EVER?

  • Glory to the Horde! These gnomes should die!

  • @orange3023 Come to Stormwind and talk that shit....

  • @thomcat86 That I will do! Death to gnomes! GLORY TO THE HORDE! MAY YOUR HIGH TINKER BURN!

  • One of the greatest cartoons ever!!! God I miss the good ol' days

  • HOW ABOUT I SLAP YOUR SHIT!?

  • I loved this cartoon as a kid. What a treasure :-)

  • :)

  • If I were to do a hip hop track, i would DEFINITELY SAMPLE THIS. Kayne, eat your heart out

  • Probably was too young to know this was on tv when I was little but riding around on a fox seems pretty effing awesome.

  • @CryogenicPony I was an older kid by the time this was on Nickelodeon. This was between '90 and '93 and I was at most 13. I loved watching this!

  • I never got to watch much of this show but what little I did I absolutely loved. Reminds me of Swedish stories about gnomes in the forest. Definitely one of my favorite cartoons ever!! :-)

  • 0:40 How about I slap your shit.... with double rainbows?

  • @williamwzl IF YOU BELIEVEEE

  • Oh my gosh I totally forgot about this show. Thank goodness for Youtube!

  • I remember that the only time I could watch this was on school breaks and when I was home sick. Good memories

  • This takes me back to afternoons watching Nickelodeon (when there was only one channel for it). Watching this Maya the Bee, Adventures of Little Koala and Rugrats. I miss this time, sometimes being an adult sucks. lol.

  • @janellejulianajoy I remember these, but they were played on Nick in the mornin during Nick Jr. except for rugrats which played on sunday mornings as Nicktoons with Doug and Ren And Stimpy. other exceptional cartoons on Nick Jr. were Papa Beaver's Story Time, the Noozles (also about Koalas) and Grimms Fairy Tale Classics. the Koala shows and Grimms FTC's were the first Anime you might have seen.

  • @CobraVegeta Ha Ha, you're right. I remember all of those and thrown in Pinwheel and Eureeka's Castle and it's perfect, lol.

  • This was one of my favs. But I always thought it was cold Where David lives. Long Sleves pants beard.

  • Holy cow..suddenly I'm 8 years old again watching The Family Channel

  • Damn this brings back memories!!!

  • This show is LEGENDARY. Even as a child it had some kind of emotional of everyone. Didn't know how poetic it was until I was grown.

  • Holy this looks familiar i can't remember i think i watched this

  • Diana Ross so stole David's theme tune for her chorus in Touch Me In The Morning lol!

  • ACTUAL DWARF FORTRESS GAMEPLAY

  • Nostalgiad hard...this song got stuck in my head...youtubed it for the rest of the lyrics...so many fond memories <3

  • Wow, listening to this intro and the words just come flooding back into me! This show is forever engrained in my mind. Watching it every afternoon at my grandparents really brings back a lot of memories of a more innocent, pure and worry-free time in my life.

  • love it !!!!!

  • I remember this some what.

  • A priceless cartoon; I cannot think of my childhood without thinking of this great show. I agree about the song triggering a tear in my eye - been too long. Kids today don't know what they're missing (or even care for that matter).

  • Swift was the coolest steed ever... I mean, what could be more awesome than riding a fox?

  • great plot a gnome who lives a happy life as a doctor and outsmarts trolls and makes medical runs with his trusted freind swift the fox my eyes got tears god i miss childhood

  • This brings back happy memories. Everytime I went to my grandmas house we would watch David the gnome together. Sadly my grandma passed away several years ago but every time I watch this I think of the fun we had watching it together.

  • wow fun times :D

  • OMG i cant believe i watched this on Nick Jr. back in the 90's

  • @AJ627 Me too...it looks so boring now. lol

  • nope

  • the good ole days

  • I was born in 1977 and got to witness Nickelodeon from basically the beginning. I grew up with the channel and it saddens me to see what it is now. The shows that made up the channels core were charming and fun. Now everything is garish and stupid. The way of the world?

  • @secondact77 Or you're just not attracted to the new shows because you're older, the new generation of kids like the current shows

  • @Cstyle12 Or...the new generation of kids only has the current shows and really don't know what they missed out on.

  • @secondact77 Possibly

  • @secondact77 We're the same age. Nick used to be a great channel back in those days. You Can't Do That On Television, David The Gnome, Count Duckula, etc.

  • I loved this show when I was a kid. I still sometimes find myself singing this theme song.

  • this show rocked when i was a kid

  • i never watched a episode of this show and yet i cried ;_;

  • RIP Tom Bosley (voice of David)

I miss this show so much.

  • Those trolls sure were assholes lol

  • Now listening to this My life makes sense :)

  • 0:39 scary shit

  • took me back when they shown it every afternoon on Nickaelodeon

  • Comment removed

  • fantastic children's series! this intro is nice, but the german one is better.

  • fuckin hated this asshole of a show

  • HOW ABOUT I SHOOT RAINBOWS WITH MY FINGERS?

  • I miss being a kid. One of my favorite afternoon shows.

  • SPY SLAPPIN MY SHIT

  • fuck sake i remember this ;(

  • HOW ABOUT I APPLY PRESSURE TO YOUR SCAT

  • slap your shit? Fuck that, I have DOUBLE HAND RAINBOWS ALL THE WAY

  • HOW ABOUT I forcefully bash YOUR feces?

  • Trollolol

  • The Weinstein Bros on production? These guys knew quality and were epic from, like, always :D

  • @SergeantLuke I am a motherfucker.

  • Its like a really cartoony and long Travelocity commercial

  • good god it links to 4chan

  • I didn't even see the "how about I slap your shit" screenshot!

  • @9001lulz That's because it isn't from the introduction.

  • I was and am too old to appreciate and enjoy the show, but I really like the opening theme. Heck, even the video is pretty cool. This is what a kid's show SHOULD sound like full of hope and adventure and a cool voice character teaching values and friendship. But beyond all that, the theme itself I could listen to all day on my mp3 player to feel uplifted. And from a straight 30-year-old that likes star trek abnd not showtunes or kids, that's something special, I think.

  • Fuck yeah David The Gnome is bad ass!

  • How about I slap your shit?

  • @CLParkour I am a motherfucker.

  • who else cried after watching this? the last of my childhood died with macho man. Its gone...all of it.

  • @teachmehowtostewie I cried too

  • this was one of my favorite shows as a kid and sadly of all my friends i have only known one other person who recalls this show

  • gnomes are actually real you just cant see them very well

  • darn this makes me feel old,23 years ago I loved watching this when I was a little one :)

  • @MoonForce3 Auuuugh, don't say that. I'm 25. lol

  • i want to put this gnome in a rocket, and get an achievment

  • I remember watching this show when I was a kid but I can't remember if I actually liked it or just watched it to make fun of it.

My younger brother and I said David the Gnome looked like an Astro-Pop. Lol

  • I remember watching this show as a kid but I can't remember if I actually liked it or just watched it to make fun of it.

My younger brother and I said David the Gnome looked like an Astro-Pop. Lol

  • Amen DarkSangheili I am with you on that, god whatever happened to Saturday morning cartoons? or shows where REAL people sang and preformed for kids? I'm 28 and I miss the late 80's and early 90's . Its all anime now...granted I do love my anime but still even that is cookie cutter these days, no classics like Saint Seyia or Akira , astro boy. Oh how I mourn you Saturday morning cartoons you died far far to young.

  • Gunpei, mine too!!! I looooveeee David the gnome with all my heart he was awesome!!! Lolol

  • Wasn't this a German show originally?

  • @Vash3OO1 dutch

  • @Vash3OO1 actually from Spain I wasnt sure I look it in wikipedia

  • @sernaturaleza The series if from spain, yes.

But the source material, aka the books are from The Netherlands/Holland.

  • @Vash3OO1 But it is based in 2 differents book from neerlandeses Will Huygen y Rien Poortvliet.

  • Ah the good old days of innocence...when trolls were bumbling yet lovable idiots rather than stifling unlovable idiots lurking on internet forums.

  • oh my gosh... I've had this vague childhood memory of a cartoon about gnomes for years, but I just now thought to google it... Now it's all coming back to me. Yay modern internet!

  • my eyes are leaking

  • I miss those days! When I see the stuff I watched as a kid makes me sad. I wish I could go back in time.

  • RIP Tom Bosley

  • @TheDarkSangheili I think as humans we should always let our inner child out, for lack of better phrase. There is nothing wrong with being 'older' and watching the same cartoons that you used to take comfort in as a child. I still love Winnie the Pooh and it still gives me that same stress-free feeling. It can be used like a drug. Completely mind-altering. That's why I sought this out. I don't ever have to age if I'm always a child to myself. Don't know how to explain it really. Try it ppl

  • How about i slap your shit?

  • Just hearing those first few notes, and seeing that colorful logo, is so reminiscent of an era, it makes me want to cry... like I miss something terribly, that I don't even remember having that clearly.. sometimes I wish I could just forget the world, go live with gnomes, beat up douchey trolls, and rescue injured animals. :/

  • With David the Gnome, I remember the theme of Toys-R-Us; I dont want to grow up. Cartoons then was very good and so much simpler but dont get me wrong some of the cartoons now and I mean very little, some are just ok. I am 32 about to be 33 and I am a big kid @ heart, I still watch cartoons and eat big bowl of cereal...how many of us remember Saturday mornings all day watching cartoons or the cartoon train on USA on Sunday mornings. I miss my dad because he was a bigger kid than me.

  • Always watched this at day-care right after lunch.

  • Is anyone born 1980-1990 capable of watching this without crying? Just wondering...

  • @junipermama1 Nope. Summer of '84 here. Nickelodeon was the channel to watch way back. This show + Eureka's castle, Gullah Gullah Island, Adventure's of Tin Tin, etc. were what made Saturday's and days after school. Good times.

  • @junipermama1 I'm not. The Winnie the Pooh intro did the same thing to me as well. *offers a tissue*

  • @junipermama1 I'm 1991, my sister got me into this and I can't not cry.

  • @junipermama1 I teared up.

  • @junipermama1 I was born in in 1992 and I fricking love all retryo cartoons and to tell you the truth, I'm starting to cry D':

  • @junipermama1 Nope I'm crying. T_T My kids are looking at me like I'm insane.

  • Comment removed

  • @junipermama1 Amen!

  • @junipermama1 I remember crying on the episode where Swift died or almost died...kind of hard to remember it was so long ago!

  • @junipermama1 I know, I don't get why I tear up when I hear this song... >.>

  • @junipermama1 i cant help but getting a little misty eyed watching this

  • Why can't all openings be this awesome. Instead ew have 30-sec crap openings now. Why? To toss in moar commercials!

  • Shit, I remember this.

  • Holy hell I haven't heard this in decades...

  • the ending = most scarring moment of my childhood

  • @tzweck lol yeah I was like something just happen and I dont what it is but i dont like it lol

  • This show freaked me out.

  • OH MY GOD I used to watch this when I was FOUR! Its like a vague memory somewhere in the back of my mind! Thank you for sharing ^_^

  • I just got so teary watching this. Brought back so many memories of my childhood. I feel so freaking old, omg

  • This was children's television at it's most quality and no amount of japanese anime or dumbed down partonising naffness from the BCC will ever take away from this. These programmes had education at their heart - they dealt with serious issues - birth, life, environmentalism, doing the right thing and indeed death, in a way which was accessible and understandable to small children. How many cartoon character's deaths today will still make grown men cry in 22 years time?

    I'm guessing not many!

  • The rabbit on the far right must of been stoned.

  • HOW ABOUT I SLAP YOUR SHIT

  • Loved this show as a kid-it taught morality.TB 4000 I cried too and I still do when I watch the final episode.

  • Fuck i still cry when i think about the final episode.

  • The last ep. when they passed on, I cried my ASS off, I won't even front. -_-

  • This brings back the only memories. Me and my cousin always watched this when our grandmother babysat us :)

  • So very very wonderful.

I miss those days when there were such sweet innocent and heart-warming cartoons and tried make their kid viewers better people.

Now everything is so damned cynical and perverse.

  • This brought a tear to my eye. The theme song really hits a sensitive spot with me. This show takes me way back. -Sniffle.-

  • I literally almost cried as well. Reminded me of my childhood. Happy times!! Loved David the Gnome.

  • Enable ratings ass. I loved this show. It was beautiful.

  • the rabbits were getting it

  • DAVID THE GNOME IS AWESOME i miss those days reminds me of Nintendo Nes for some reason

  • my favorite show when I was little=)

  • HOW ABOUT I SLAP YOUR SHIT?

  • Hell yes! SWIFT!!! Swift was where it was at. The fox that could do damn near anything. *sigh* Cartoons nowadays...

  • Why do Gnomes give eskimo kisses?

  • This is such a throw back. David the Gnome is awesome!

  • I just saw this for the first time.

All I could think of was WTF.

  • I Still Wish That Someone Would Upload A Couple Of David The Gnome Episodes, The First One Is When Lisa was Kidnapped By Those Trolls, and The Second One Is When Lisa Was Attacked By A Cat.

  • Brings a tear to my eye- perhaps my earliest memory of childhood. Love this song.

  • I absolutely love this cartoon and damn it almost makes me sad when i watch it now.It reminds me of my Grandparents.....Watching it at their house. I HAVE to get every season on DVD...if they even have it out idk i havent checked. I Sure hope so.

  • @MrDGood84 they do...I bought it for my boyfriend a few years ago. I don't remember from where, but do a google search, and i'm sure you'll find it =)

  • @ghostieboo hey thanks im gonna have to check it out and have a david the gnome marathon lol

  • Anyone who loved this movie as a kid and still today obviously has good taste in cartoon :D

  • i used to love this

  • god this brings back alot of my childhood memories lol

  • A great show. You don't see good fantasy toons like this anymore. I found myself singing along with this video, somehow remembering the lyrics even though I haven't seen this show or even heard theme in over 20 years. Then I cried, because I miss my childhood. A lot of kids are in a rush to grow up, but they shouldn't be, because they'll miss it once it's gone. I'd give anything to be a kid again in the 80s. It wasn't perfect, but it was much better than this century could ever be.

  • @TheDarkSangheili Amen to that

  • @TheDarkSangheili

i just cried my ass off. hahaha. man.. i miss the 80's. sad thing is, it takes me back to a time when i didn't understand english, i remember all the images, the song, the music, but not the meaning of the words because at the time i was still just, a foreigner. rmbr gem?

  • @DjElixur

Jem is amazing. Glamor and glitter, fashion and fame. The music is also alleged to be contagious. The CDC recommends taking extreme caution when handling Jem and/or the Misfits, whose songs are alleged to be better.

  • @TheDarkSangheili I feel the same way about the 90s.
