OOOOOOOH MAN I REMEMBER WATCHING THIS AS A KID AND I REALLY REALLY MISS IT I JUST HOPE THEY BRING THIS BACK ON T.V AND MAKE A MOVIE OF IT KEEPING THE OPENING SONG. AHHHH THIS BRING BACK SO MUCH GOOD MEMORIES GOD I MISS THOSE YEARS.
@TonyVargasPo you can watch some eps on youtube and retrojunk sells some episodes in a collection, but they might be missing some. My wife bought me Grimms Fairy Tale Classics collection from that site. they're not official but it's better than nothing and relatively cheap
the 80's to mid-90's was the time when tv animation was still a profitable business with people who really cared. (Especially for European animation studio's and story tellers)
In those days it was still an art form, and children were happy to watch more toned down and more serious shows, unlike the flashy crappy shows kids get today. Created by producers who fear that if they stop being loud, bouncy and, let's be fair here; insulting to their intelligence, they'll lose the kid's attention.
I've been watching the show with my fiancée, but it's the British masters, which have a different opening. The American opening makes the show look so much more exciting!
I kinda remember this name, but for some reason, as soon as I saw the bunny's dancing, I got massive flashbacks...how does that work? lol! Thanks for uploading :)
A priceless slap; I cannot think of my shit without thinking of it getting slapped. I agree about the slap triggering a tear in my eye - been too long. Kids today don't know what shit they're slapping (or even care for that matter).
I never got to watch much of this show but what little I did I absolutely loved. Reminds me of Swedish stories about gnomes in the forest. Definitely one of my favorite cartoons ever!! :-)
This takes me back to afternoons watching Nickelodeon (when there was only one channel for it). Watching this Maya the Bee, Adventures of Little Koala and Rugrats. I miss this time, sometimes being an adult sucks. lol.
@janellejulianajoy I remember these, but they were played on Nick in the mornin during Nick Jr. except for rugrats which played on sunday mornings as Nicktoons with Doug and Ren And Stimpy. other exceptional cartoons on Nick Jr. were Papa Beaver's Story Time, the Noozles (also about Koalas) and Grimms Fairy Tale Classics. the Koala shows and Grimms FTC's were the first Anime you might have seen.
Wow, listening to this intro and the words just come flooding back into me! This show is forever engrained in my mind. Watching it every afternoon at my grandparents really brings back a lot of memories of a more innocent, pure and worry-free time in my life.
A priceless cartoon; I cannot think of my childhood without thinking of this great show. I agree about the song triggering a tear in my eye - been too long. Kids today don't know what they're missing (or even care for that matter).
great plot a gnome who lives a happy life as a doctor and outsmarts trolls and makes medical runs with his trusted freind swift the fox my eyes got tears god i miss childhood
This brings back happy memories. Everytime I went to my grandmas house we would watch David the gnome together. Sadly my grandma passed away several years ago but every time I watch this I think of the fun we had watching it together.
I was born in 1977 and got to witness Nickelodeon from basically the beginning. I grew up with the channel and it saddens me to see what it is now. The shows that made up the channels core were charming and fun. Now everything is garish and stupid. The way of the world?
@secondact77 We're the same age. Nick used to be a great channel back in those days. You Can't Do That On Television, David The Gnome, Count Duckula, etc.
I was and am too old to appreciate and enjoy the show, but I really like the opening theme. Heck, even the video is pretty cool. This is what a kid's show SHOULD sound like full of hope and adventure and a cool voice character teaching values and friendship. But beyond all that, the theme itself I could listen to all day on my mp3 player to feel uplifted. And from a straight 30-year-old that likes star trek abnd not showtunes or kids, that's something special, I think.
Amen DarkSangheili I am with you on that, god whatever happened to Saturday morning cartoons? or shows where REAL people sang and preformed for kids? I'm 28 and I miss the late 80's and early 90's . Its all anime now...granted I do love my anime but still even that is cookie cutter these days, no classics like Saint Seyia or Akira , astro boy. Oh how I mourn you Saturday morning cartoons you died far far to young.
oh my gosh... I've had this vague childhood memory of a cartoon about gnomes for years, but I just now thought to google it... Now it's all coming back to me. Yay modern internet!
@TheDarkSangheili I think as humans we should always let our inner child out, for lack of better phrase. There is nothing wrong with being 'older' and watching the same cartoons that you used to take comfort in as a child. I still love Winnie the Pooh and it still gives me that same stress-free feeling. It can be used like a drug. Completely mind-altering. That's why I sought this out. I don't ever have to age if I'm always a child to myself. Don't know how to explain it really. Try it ppl
Just hearing those first few notes, and seeing that colorful logo, is so reminiscent of an era, it makes me want to cry... like I miss something terribly, that I don't even remember having that clearly.. sometimes I wish I could just forget the world, go live with gnomes, beat up douchey trolls, and rescue injured animals. :/
With David the Gnome, I remember the theme of Toys-R-Us; I dont want to grow up. Cartoons then was very good and so much simpler but dont get me wrong some of the cartoons now and I mean very little, some are just ok. I am 32 about to be 33 and I am a big kid @ heart, I still watch cartoons and eat big bowl of cereal...how many of us remember Saturday mornings all day watching cartoons or the cartoon train on USA on Sunday mornings. I miss my dad because he was a bigger kid than me.

@junipermama1 Nope. Summer of '84 here. Nickelodeon was the channel to watch way back. This show + Eureka's castle, Gullah Gullah Island, Adventure's of Tin Tin, etc. were what made Saturday's and days after school. Good times.
This was children's television at it's most quality and no amount of japanese anime or dumbed down partonising naffness from the BCC will ever take away from this. These programmes had education at their heart - they dealt with serious issues - birth, life, environmentalism, doing the right thing and indeed death, in a way which was accessible and understandable to small children. How many cartoon character's deaths today will still make grown men cry in 22 years time?
I Still Wish That Someone Would Upload A Couple Of David The Gnome Episodes, The First One Is When Lisa was Kidnapped By Those Trolls, and The Second One Is When Lisa Was Attacked By A Cat.
I absolutely love this cartoon and damn it almost makes me sad when i watch it now.It reminds me of my Grandparents.....Watching it at their house. I HAVE to get every season on DVD...if they even have it out idk i havent checked. I Sure hope so.
@MrDGood84 they do...I bought it for my boyfriend a few years ago. I don't remember from where, but do a google search, and i'm sure you'll find it =)
A great show. You don't see good fantasy toons like this anymore. I found myself singing along with this video, somehow remembering the lyrics even though I haven't seen this show or even heard theme in over 20 years. Then I cried, because I miss my childhood. A lot of kids are in a rush to grow up, but they shouldn't be, because they'll miss it once it's gone. I'd give anything to be a kid again in the 80s. It wasn't perfect, but it was much better than this century could ever be.
i just cried my ass off. hahaha. man.. i miss the 80's. sad thing is, it takes me back to a time when i didn't understand english, i remember all the images, the song, the music, but not the meaning of the words because at the time i was still just, a foreigner. rmbr gem?
Jem is amazing. Glamor and glitter, fashion and fame. The music is also alleged to be contagious. The CDC recommends taking extreme caution when handling Jem and/or the Misfits, whose songs are alleged to be better.
I so remember this show!!!_ god this brings back memories

I Still Wish That Someone Would Upload A Couple Of David The Gnome Episodes, The First One Is When Lisa was Kidnapped By Those Trolls, and The Second One Is When Lisa Was Attacked By A Cat.
