  • i like the little strip dance while playing haha

  • Dude! whats the tabs on the solo? Do you mind sharin?

  • I have been following maiden since the number of the beast and yes your guitar is a bit out but i thought you where awesome. keep rockin.

  • @CamerDunc Yeah one of the curses of not setting it up right! I had to replace the tension screws with better steel screws not cheap brass ones because they were slipping and worn so easily :S Thanks!

  • Wow how long have you been playing guitar? Your amazing. Ive just started and i feel like a complete retard. I hope to someday to be able to play this song, I can sing it pretty well but I suck at guitar.

  • @chandledorf Ahh don't worry it took me about 4 years to play anything by Iron Maiden all the way through! Keep at it, glad you liked it though!

  • what distorsion use you?

  • @giupydj Sorry I have been very busy, at the time a crummy Boss ME50, I've gone pure analoge now!

  • Great Song! Great Band! Nice playing man.

  • @alovea69 Thank you! I aim to re-record a lot of this with my new analog setup sometime though :)

  • Hey dude! When you said the trem wasnt balanced properly, did this cause string action problems? I have an issue with my

one as the notes from the 12th upwards seem to close to the kneck and im finding it make room for more fret buzz and mistakes with string to finger control. I dont know but my ibanez just seems to lack the playability of a standard strat. Maybe this is because i play allot of blues licks, and im not so used to a flat kneck like that on the RG here. Help.

  • Yeah they are low action guitars.

Now depending on some of your technique like: how much you're having to press the strings to the frets can cause some buzz, picking from the wrong angle causing the string to slap the frets you need to be dead on 90 degress to the strings (if you get me).

My Ibanez was originally strung with 9s from the factory I use 10s so I changed them and had to raise the bridge posts. Strings need time to stretch in, use the fine tuners to correct intonation & tuning

  • Good, but you should tune your guitar ;)

  • It was tuned.

I'll tell you what was wrong though, the intonation was all wrong because the bridge wasn't balanced properly and I was using cheap strings.

    Jim

  • good job!

  • Hi amigo, how are you?

    pretty song !!

    see my videos

    :)

  • can you make a video on how to play it?

  • Yeah,

I can probably put one up within a week or two.

Side note: just a few bits of technique which I might assume viewers will know before hand.

Would you like the recordings to be:

half-speed then full speed for each part?

    Thanks,

    Jim,

  • so Jim how do you like the ME50? I love it, it's much better than the Digitech RP-1 I upgraded from

  • The ME50 allows a great set of tones and effects for most songs

Exception being Wah-wah and other variable foot pedal effects which are ok for some songs, that don't require as wide a range on their wah-wah/octave.

If you want the range that Hendrix, Wylde, Guitarists from Iron Maiden, etc for wah buy a separate pedal.

If you want anything more than 1 octave which mostly Vai and Herman Li appear to use you'll want the Digitech Whammy Pedal that does [+-]2/2.5 octave.

    Hope that helps

  • i think about buying this guitar! do you think its worth the money??

  • I advise considering what is the best preference for yourself and trying out a range of Guitars.

If I had the choice now, I might have considered the Ibanez S320 for it's improved Zero Point trem.

This guitar has been a bit of a learning experience.

I'm still not perfect at setting up and restringing a Floyd Rose bridge...

But I love the Guitar in general once I got the damned thing balanced and set up

    Jim

  • yes

  • Thanks mate

  • where'd you learn it?

  • Not that difficult to learn a lot of it by ear.

Tablature that I found most accurate is in Guitar Pro format, it's pretty accurate.

There is only one difficult riff to get purely by ear, and the Solo is based on some pretty common Pentatonic / Minor shapes.

    Jim,

  • sigo jodiendo

de todos los videos que veo

    el tuyo es el mejor

    good theme!

    saludos de mexico amigo!

  • hahahaha no no eres mierda

    hahaha yeahhh amigo tocas bn

    es guitar jackson???

    see u!

  • Utilizá un Ibanez RG370DX (en este video)

    Gracías :)

    Jim,

  • geeeeniiiaal amigo!!!

    gr8 job

    se la rifa

  • Muchas gracías amigo ;)

Pero, no yo buena tocca ... soy mierda :P

    Vivo Metal! xD

    Jim,

  • hey m8

we need to meet up soon at matts and have a little jam

btw ur covers are awsome keep it up m8

  • hey, planing on getting this soon:P looks amazing:) does the finish mark easy?. good job with the cover:) very well done

  • Cool ..

My observations of my Guitar so far.

Worth keeping clean - get some Cloths to wipe down strings and body, make sure the one used on the body is no abrasive else it will probably mark.

I have had to replace the tension screws but the solution is to buy a decent headed screw driver to prevent thread wear when adjusting.

As for easy body marking ... not that I am aware of as I don't chuck it around as it was £270 of my own money :D

    Jim,

  • Too much distortion.

And get a guitar amp, everything played through effect processor only sounds crappy (I know from autopsy).

    Nice work, though.

  • I have an Amplifier ... but that will sound WORSE than a CLEAN direct signal. :/

I agree, I didn't balance the Level and Distortion well...

I also have A shite Camera - Which I aim to replace sometime xD

I am looking at maybe a Vox Valvetronix 30+ Watt in the future

But I "make do and mend" for the moment.

    Thanks though mate :)

    Jim,

  • Thanks!

  • good job man!!!keep rocking!how long do u play?1 year or more?

  • Try nearly 5...

  • A!ok but don't give up!good effort!

  • xD hehe yeah ..

    Thanks ;)

    Jim,

  • not too bad. better than i'd play it :P

  • Yeah,

    I balls'd up in many a place.

    Jim,

  • reminds dragonforce :P just kidding its much better

  • LOL xD

Cheers, glad you liked it :P

    Jim,

  • is that guitar any good, i'm thinking of buying that or a epiphone les paul standard

    is that guitar any good?

    nice cover btw :D

  • Like any Guitar it's as good as the player behind it ;)

Personally, I didn't find the few Gibson Guitars that I tried particularly nice to play that I tried.

    Thanks!

It's a bit crappy in places so I applogise for the crap Volume levels and Playing. xD

    Jim,

  • i just buyed that guitar...and its pretty good:)

  • Cool ;)

  • nice but a bit messy :P

  • Tell me about it...

  • how you like that guitar i was thinking about getting one?

  • I think it's a pretty nice Guitar on the whole.

I'm still that good at keeping the Trem Balanced and nicely in tune. It's a good Solid build, frets have nice spacing, easy to fret and neck is slim

Other Ibanez I'd consider are the newer 420 series (Which maybe abit more flashy) but essentially the same as the 370.

Tthe 350 Series are ok, but I didn't see the need for a Pick Plate personally, if you can pick without a rainbow on your pick plate you should be fine with a 370.

    Jim,

  • thanx

  • thanks to ibanez you don't sound like crap.

  • I disagree ...

I can play a cheap £99 Guitar from Morrisons as good as I can play my Ibanez...

Yes, difference being that the Pickups are better but it won't sound that much different.

Check out my Videos using my Yamaha Pacifica 112...

    Jim,

  • yo how old are u and where do u live

  • 16 Years Old , UK South East.

  • wtf, don't give free info to strangers! they could rape you ;-)

    p.s. lol nice eruption practice

  • xD haha

On that basis, I should have no Video and just a sill image for my Videos :D

Cheers, I mess up a lot when I record I get nervous - and I didn't practice the Solo to this, that was mainly by ear to2wards the end (it shows).

Glad you liked the EVH - Erupton Video :)

    Thanks!

    Jim,

  • Where abouts in south east? I live there too.

  • sorry I overlooked this comment! :o

    Thanks :P

Hope you'll like some of my new additions coming up by Pantera (Hopefully)

and some more Iron Maiden just after that.

    Jim,

  • did you change the pickups? I got rg350dx with stock pickups.

  • Haven't changed pickups at all ;)

    stock ones are fine :)

  • hey what amp is that?

  • none ;)

But, I use a Laney HardCore Max (15 Watt) for Practice

  • nice job check out my version. is it a ibanez rg370dx? if it is ive got the same man!

  • Hey thanks!

Yeah it is ;) It's a nice Guitar to play. :D

I'll check out more of your Videos soon,

    I'm abit busy lately.

    Thanks!

  • Hey man nice job, sweet maiden tone. I myself own a me-50 as well, what settings and levels do you use for that maiden sound?

  • Hey thanks!

Right I used something along the lines of this:

    1. OverDrive/Distortion:

    Metal (MT2) - Drive: 90/100%, Bottom 75%, Tone 75%; (Level: 33%)

    2. Modulation:

Phaser(adds 'crunch')/Flanger(adds 'sharpness') Rate: 0, Depth: 0, ELevel: 0 (Can alter as needed)

Other than that, it's just Volume up full for all Iron Maiden as an arbetrory requirement :)

    Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!

    Jim,

  • I liked the solo. **** i dont think this is played crappy, maybe not as clear as the other videos.

  • Definitly is that to some degree.

At the time, my setup had poor level consitency.

Was difficult to get it as good as it is on my latest Videos.

    Thanks again mate! :D

  • Direct Lead -> From the Line Out on the Boss-E50 (Headphones Port) to my PC Line In.

it's the perfect level for Plugging into your Sound card using a 1 & 1/4 Inch Sterio to 3.5mm Sterio jack to plug into your Line In on your soud card.

The Track is the Wave on your 'Recorder Mixer', I play the Tracks from Winamp and play live recording with my Webcam.

  • U can get a range of sounds with it,

I've managed to get a similar sound that you're after using a combination of distortion and modulation. :)

Distortion: Metal -> Full Gain, Full bottom + Tone, Modulation: Phazer, All settings on 0

  • It's worth it, I can assure you.

The Boss ME50 enabled me to explore sounds and techniques. It helps with things that require multiple effects to get the right sound, because it can be done with relitive ease.

so I say: yeah, nothing like a well suted Effects Pedal for your needs.

  • Thanks for the comment :)

    they're a nice build of Guitar :D

the Floating Trem takes getting used to if you've never had one before, but it's all good.

  • Thanx for the justfied comment :)

I do need to improve my playing in general.

    Nah i'm 15 years old mate :D

I just hate Registration forms that ask for your DOB.

  • gooooooooooo jiiiiiiiiiiiiim

  • Correction - I am not a whore,

I listen to this kind of stuff every day on my MP3 Player, I know the song pretty well.

I didn't practice it in its entirety before playing it in this video.

Only practiced the Intro as it's the most difficult in string skipping.

  • gogo jim, not my fav maiden song, waiting for fear of the dark:P
