Try and think of it this way; If homosexuality was a religion, and not a sexuality, fully equipped with marriage ceremonies, we wouldn't be able to deny them of their right to legally marry because it would be discriminating against a religion. That's a fine interpretation. The way I see it, they are representing themselves as individuals who see the bigger, more valuable core of the Bible. "Love thy neighbor as yourself". The Bible clearly condemns racial slavery. That's why Moses freed the Israelites from their Egyptian enslavement. The other account of slavery was nothing like racial slavery. The term marriage is only describing man and woman. Not any type of homosexual. Prop 8 does not violate the constitution. Prop 8 is unconstitutional ONLY when the condition is a hierarchy term to describe heterosexual and homosexual couples. Since kindergarten both of my kids have had classmates with "2 mommies" or "2 daddies". "Gay Day" wouldn't teach them anything they didn't know already and Prop Hate wouldn't keep this from happening.

The argument is based on civil rights, or lack of, no love, although that is a big part of it.
There other FEDERAL laws which prevent incest for moral and health issues, as for your family dog, there is a huge difference between human rights and animal rights, and the word consenting still comes to pass, i doubt you'd get much consent out of your dog, let alone get it to hold a pen.

Whether or not you have a religious ceremony is beside the point when on a state level, and on a basic rights level, all you have to do is sign a contract, correct?

Try and think of it this way; If homosexuality was a religion, and not a sexuality, fully equipped with marriage ceremonies, we wouldn't be able to deny them of their right to legally marry because it would be discriminating against a religion. It's essentially the same thing; denying people their fundamental right to be with the person they love on the same level as everyone else, as "traditional" heterosexual married couples.

That's a fine interpretation. The way I see it, they are representing themselves as individuals who see the bigger, more valuable core of the Bible. "Love thy neighbor as yourself". It would be wrong in my opinion to discriminate against your neighbor, knowing your neighbor for what he or she is. However, how do we judge one scripture over the other? Can we say that the lines written and being used against homosexuality have more weight than the moral value clearly defined within the same book?

The Bible doesn't condone slavery of that time any more than it condones abortion of in our time. Slavery was present in the time of the bible so it is referenced. The Bible clearly condemns racial slavery. That's why Moses freed the Israelites from their Egyptian enslavement. The other account of slavery was nothing like racial slavery. Don't just take my word for it, research it yourself. The message Paul was conveying was to respect your superiors. You have to read the Bible to comment on it not just cherry pick it and take things out of context.

What Peter 2:18 is talking about is the virtue of whether you be a mans slave, servant, or employee don't speak ill of him or harm that man. It's a good lesson that we can all apply in our lives today. If you have a boss that you don't like, don't talk smack about he or she or plot against your boss. Show kindness to your superiors and you'll receive kindness in turn. God is saying, be an example of virtue no matter what life hits you with.

The Hebrew were slaves, not by choice, but because they were Hebrews (Exodus 13:14). The plagues God poured out on Egypt demonstrate how God feels about racial slavery (Exodus 7-11). So, yes, the Bible does condemn some forms of slavery. At the same time, the Bible does seem to allow for other forms of slavery. The key issue is that the slavery the Bible allowed for in no way resembled the racial slavery that plagued our world in the past few centuries. Hope that clears it up for you.

The term marriage is only describing man and woman. Not any type of homosexual. Prop 8 does not violate the constitution. Prop 8 is unconstitutional ONLY when the condition is a hierarchy term to describe heterosexual and homosexual couples. However if the term marriage is a SUBSET of domestic partnership, it is constitutional. No law should treat any subset of the domestic partnership unequally with segregation.

Gay marriage is currently legal, so...by now, wouldn't schools already be teaching gay marriage? It's been over 4 months by now.
The Yes on 8 people claim it will be taught instantly, but...if it's not being taught right now...where are they getting this "evidence" that gay marriage will be taught?

Californians must cast a clear eye on Proposition 8's real intentions. It seeks to change the state Constitution in a rare and terrible way, to impose a single moral belief on everyone and to deprive a targeted group of people of civil rights that are now guaranteed. This is something that no Californian, of any religious belief, should accept. Vote no to the bigotry of Proposition 8.

Equality is a lie and a fantasy. There are no two people on earth that are equal! Even Identical twins have different fingerprints and clones have different lifespans than their host. Until men produce their own eggs and women produce sperm they will be sepparate. But in California any GLBT can "Marry" someone of the oppisite sex and a straight person can get a "Domestic Partnership" with someone of the same sex as long as they are not related. Interracial marriage is not the same as same-sex marriage. Interracial marriage is still between a MAN and a WOMAN. Same-sex marriage is, as the phrase implies, between a man and a man, or a woman and a woman. Interracial marriage and same-sex marriage are not the same, not even close.

somehow i lost my faith in god and in the church when i read about the church's history in class.
I've seen people try to use God to beat homosexuality, it can't go away. It won't. I do not believe homosexuality is a sin, and i will not fight it. I enjoy life the way i have it now; i embrace who i am and i'm not hurting anybody.
The only person who was hurt in my whole "gay life style" was me, for not coming out sooner.

First, every child young and old in California is already exposed to same sex unions and relationships deal with it. They will always have the right to make their choices and will at some point understand what their sexuality is, but not be told what it is by anyone. I'm a psychology major and homosexuality, though popularly stated as being a mental illness, has NOT been classified so! Don't just listen to what you hear, do some actual research!
Something that makes more sense as a mental illness is, in fact, religion. The belief in a deity of which there is no underlying proof sounds pretty screwy. Especially when it affects the decisions you make and the feelings you have.
No on Prop 8. It takes away the rights we have as Americans and as human beings.

Since kindergarten both of my kids have had classmates with "2 mommies" or "2 daddies". "Gay Day" wouldn't teach them anything they didn't know already and Prop Hate wouldn't keep this from happening.
There's no way to shelter your kids from knowing about things you find immoral. Use occasions like this to help them make sense of the world.

There are examples of homosexual attraction throughout nature. And you're right, you cannot do what nature intended you to do. You are attracted to women. You're not attracted to men. The opposite is true for gay men. No one can turn attraction on or off. Prop 8 discriminates against a minority. We have seen examples of this throughout history. It's wrong to treat people differently under the law. No on 8.
