As much as I enjoy Tribes, there are three reasons I prefer the original Lemmings (and Oh No More Lemmings). Probably the smallest thing is that you can't change the release rate. Second is that the abundance of skills can take a while to get used to and master. The charm of the original game was its few simple rules. Thirdly, in Tribes, there aren't enough 'every second counts' levels.
Natural Selection, which starts at 39:37, has an alternate solution: send one lemming down with an umbrella and build two stacks as soon as he lands. Now all the lemmings can fall down safely, and get to the bottom exit.
I loved playing this on medieval practice mode too; I used to let a load of ballooners ascend into the sky... then I bring out a SuperLem to pop them all!
love the circus level and the egyptian levels, the music is brilliant also :) but hehe had this on the amiga still play it on there till this day amazing game never ever gets old :D
I've only played this for the SNES. Some of the music tracks are totally different, I think mostly for the better. Graphics are clearly better in this though.
@TheTimeDilationDude totaly agree :). Wonder how many lemings that got blown up by the "Basooka & Mortal" :P... last but not lest. Super Leming!. haha god
@TheTimeDilationDude As a kid you always seem to never get past the tutorials and practice stages of games, but back then you always had a good time. I think there are games in which I never even made it to the first enemy or past the first puzzle.
I had this on the Atari ST but it didn't handle as well as this. Believe it or not, all the sounds were there (except the intro music) but it did struggle. Whenever a sound played (i.e: yippee), the midi would pause to free up the channels.
Now for the tricky part get one of your trapped lemmings to platform from the side wall and past the stack and if done right will build over the stack and there you go all 60 lemmings will be saved on that level.
First use a stacker as soon as the 1st lemming hits the ground. Next make him jump of to the left as soon as he builds the stack high enough so the others cant get passed. Stomp through the hole then rope down let the lemming walk down the rope then when he hits the wall get him to stomp through bottom of the rope and platform right at the edge across to the exit.
Hey rickyc just found out recently that you can save all 60 lemmings in the medieval tribe. On the 3rd level All in a Knight's Work I do it a bit different to ur clip. Here's is what I do.
Personally, I think they took a step in a risky direction for Tribes. The original lemmings was simple and easy to grasp. This one with the tons of different powers.. not so much.
I ordered this game by post, back when it came out, never finished it before I stopped using my amiga.I loved the little story book which came with the game.

This doesn't work like the DOS version. Example at 7:10 in DOS it is impossible to get a basher to do what you see it do in the video.

How come the levels look different and way easier than the SNES version

What is this running on and if it's a modern PC what did you use on what settings? I'd love to play this again.

Also at 1:00, just use the grappling hook to make a path directly to the exit. No need to travel through the entire level.

Oh... and here was me thinking that each Tribe was restricted to its own exclusive set of moves..
And very clever of them having 59 Lemmings in the Medieval levels.. you get so used to having 60 that you'll think you missed one.

I haven't yet seen a Lemmings game with a really good ending. The best so far that I've seen is the ending to the original (SNES version).

I like it. It has more moves and more levels.

What if they added moves to the rules of chess? The abstractness is what makes lemmings good.

I'm ready for an advanced Chess. xP
I guess it is just gamers preference...

all of it just makes it more confusing and they don't die when they fall! where's the challenge?
sp0nge1337 3 years ago
They have a fatal fall limit, it's just much higher than in the original Lemmings.
