I live in Windsor Ontario and this winter has been weird as hell. Its been freekeshly warm and I have yet to see more then 1 inch of snow! last summer was pretty wild too with all those freek storms.

The eastern seaboard black out was actually August 2003, I was living in Ottawa at the time. And it had absolutely nothing to do with the sun. It was caused by a power serge generated at a nuclear power plant in Ohio. It carried into several states and Canada because of highly out of date power infrastructure.

If there's any major disaster, earthquake most likely in this area, the government has already said you're on your own for the first 4 days, but realistically it will take a lot longer than that. Have stored water, change it out every 6 months, know how to turn off the gas to your house, have flashlights, some canned foods that won't go bad, a radio, first aid kit etc. We already saw how long it takes the government to get anything organized with Katrina.

I have some food, am 850' above sea level and 200miles from the nearest ocean coast. I'm not convinced that living through a major event, is actually winning. The winners are likely those that die.
