I went to the show in Greensboro and I absolutely love Witch Hunt. During the show I completely forgot that they were playing all of Moving Pictures! So when I started hearing the dings from Neil, my eyes lit up like crazy!!! I love Witch Hunt!!!
To put this issue to bed once and for all, you can actually see Pratt's left leg moving even in this vid if you look at 1:32 when the cowbell part starts. If you watch this song on the Grace Under Pressure DVD Neil doesn't have the luxury of a foot trigger, hell he's on his old Simmons electric kit. He's physically hitting a cowbell but once per bar instead of solid quarter notes, even Neil is only human, he can't be rolling around the toms and still hit a cowbell without growing a 3rd arm.
@Markcip1 Did you even watch the video?! You can see Neil Playing the intro on the xylophone. The other poster is correct, he plays the cowbell with a trigger pedal next to his high hat pedal, if you don't believe us check out the S & A DVD it shows a top down view of him playing the cowbell.
All trolling/Peart bashing aside, this song and this band kicks ass. They could be doing this shit 20 years from now and it will STILL kick ass. IMO the fact that they utilize technology to trigger drum/keyboard/synth bass parts live means that they have high regard for the original music and don't want to leave instruments out of the live performance. "What kind of band is Rush? It's RUSH."
1. It may be electronically triggered, but that is is still him playing it. If he doesn't touch the pedal, the cowbell will not sound, and that's only for the sake of technicality. Rush decided it would be better to use these utilities rather than leave half the instruments out of their songs.
2. They're fucking Rush. They didn't pull this music out the ass of a computer. They did this all by hand 30 years ago.
awesome video clip of one of the all time favs of mine and awesome close up of neil playing on his midi marimba at the beginning of the some good job.
