Definitely not a new engine.

It's still a heavily upgraded source engine, as they've been doing for 10 years.

We'll see a new DX11 (12?) engine for HL3. Not ep3, HL3.

Models have had static lightmapping since l4d iirc. Next step was obviously real time lightmapping.
