I was 9 years old when the first gulf war began on my sister's 6th birthday (January 16, 1990.. that was the era when I first heard this song, and even tho I was very young, it stirred such sadness in my heart... what a great message and an awesome voice!
This is probably one of the all time great anti-war songs. It ranks up there with John Lennon's music, in lyrical substance, expressing the immorality and absurdity of so many of our militaristic actions. It beautiful expresses how this glorification of aggression and martyrdom is endemic and spread from one generation to another. We need more music like this, and less music like the garbage spewed out by Lady Gaga.
@alphacause I totally agree with you! As a teenager in the ninties I grew up listening to George Micheal! I love his music. Lady Gaga sucks! His music is so profound. He is so artistic. His music is so romantic and he has such talent.I really love his voice it is so beautiful.
The video is taken from the film The Wall by Pink Floyd. 1979. Thats Pink Playing in the play ground after his dad has been killed in the war. quality video and good use of it by whoever made this.
I was in my car, and it was raining bad outside so I pulled over the car listening to this song...I started to cry...This song just brings out so emotion to whatever situation is going on in life at the moment. I lost my mother seven years ago...I am STILL very sad. I will NEVER forget her...NEVER.
I cannot describe who deeply this songs touches me...so many little kids out there left to grow up missing a father or mother. Those of you who have both...cherish them...they could be gone tomorrow!
Such a haunting song I love the pipes When will we ever learn War is wrong it is pathetic Grow up you warmongering gready governments! Love and Peace too you all
And all the husbands, all the sons, all the lovers gone
They make no difference
No difference in the end
Still hear the women say your daddy died a hero
Thank u
