Yes all right the census is about the LANGUAGE talked in different region in Greece and nothing about ETHNIC groups lol

If you translated well the paper you would see that :

Αλβανικα : albanian language

Βουλγαρικα : bulgarian language

Κουτσοβλαχικα : vlachian language

Σερβικη : serbian language

about μακεδονικα it's a dialect of greek and slavic language.

Turkish census of Hilmi Pasha in 1906, in the area of Macedonia lived:

423,000 or 41.71% Muslims

259,000 or 27.30% Greeks

178,000 or 18.81% Bulgarians

13,150 or 1.39% Serbs

73,000 or 7.72% others

The census Turks carried out in the Ottoman empire was different then now:

Turk means: everyone who is Muslim,

Greek means: everyone part of the one and only Orthodox Church in the Ottoman empire Named the Greek Orthodox Church.

Bulgarian: Since 1878 Bulgaria got its own Patriarch and everyone under the Bulgarian Patriarch is named Bulgarian.

Serbs: Got there own church in the 1850s before even Serbs where counted as Greeks.

Others are Jews/Armenians/foreigners.

It must be noticed here that the Turkish archives are quite indicating of the situation, since, as the rulers of the area, they would certainly emphasize the existence of a "Macedonian" nation if they noticed any, in order to divide the people.

There is an inscripted stone in the entrance of government building in Skopje for the pride of Ancient Macedonians :

"μακεδονιαρχων των ναων τη πατριδι συν παντι τω κοσμω τω θκτ' ετει. "
