  • NO QUALITY SOUND........AT ALL!?!?!?!

  • good grief what a crappy video

  • Thank you for the ear F#@!ing so much.

  • What have you done to this? This is terrible.

  • very good music.. but this is unlistenable

  • Perhaps you will sing for us no?

  • @SmiffWit

go buy the goddamn album, so you can have your PMS with the high-quality audio track.

dont be a cry-baby about a video no one forced you to watch.

  • Yank this damn thing off Youtube. The audio is UNLISTENABLE.

  • hahah it's wild ...madness

  • This is horrible

  • Dude... did it ever cross your mind... that maybe the sound of tree trunks being raped by jackhammers while being mocked by the audio quality of the worst nintendo games, and recorded by headphones plugged into the mic-IN jack of a 1984 sanyo tapedeck, and the heinousness of such a recording therein, far outweighs the actual value of posting such a digital murder as this? This video and its sound quality are an offense against Art itself. Take the shxt down. I thank you in advance.

  • @SmiffWit this guy should be boiled in oil for posting this sonic assault!

  • Comment removed

  • cwap. junq, ditch it or re-do...

  • OK, you need to either fix the sound or take this down. You officially have the worst audio on You Tube!

  • audio used to be good, was reuploaded like this :(

  • the audio is jacked up.. please fix it!

  • There is a tremndous amount of static in this vid, please try to clear it next time....

  • This video plays but I hear static that drowns out the song. :(

  • What's with the sound?

  • sound sucks

  • when I met SC on the El Oso tour they were playing a festival in Houston. At the autograph table we were told they'd sign ONE item per person. I told Mike that we drove from Dallas to Houston JUST to see their 45 minute set; he signed 2 things! I also have a bad-ass SC tattoo: the bear's face from El Oso!!! The most common question: is that a monkey, a dog or a pig?

  • The audio wasn't like this sometimes ago. What's wrong with Youtube?

  • this is such a piece of suck recording

  • This video damaged the whole internet!

  • nice clip asshole.. i hope you drown in your own piss fucker

  • Moose on side and let the mango loose.

  • this is really good quality

  • ear rape

  • horrible copy, the sound is tweaked

  • Move aside, and get some mango juice.

  • way hip

  • I friggin love soul coughing.. I have had to buy "ruby vroom" four times now.. someone stole it the first two times, and the third was old and scratched so i bought it again. I don't mind.. it's worth it.

  • @rizay421 While I was away in Sardinia, Italy in the Navy we used to hang out at this abandoned WWII-era lighthouse and paint murals. We played a Ruby Vroom tape on an old beaten-up ghetto blaster so many times that it wore thin until you could hear the opposite sound playing backwards behind the side that was playing.

  • these guys were absolutely great on stage !!!! outstanding !! saw them many times in belgium ! always a pleisure .....long live Mr doughty's genius !

  • Super Vaughn Vaughn!!!!! Super Vaughn Vaughn!!!!

  • there's a great remix fo this by Propellerheads...

  • got that one on vynil

  • Ryan Peake does a good cover of this song :)

  • I never got to see SC, but I am a huge Doughty fan. I've met him several times, and he used to be real nice to me, then he just turned on me. I travel to his shows up and down the East coast, and even have DOUGHTY as my license plate. LOL I also have 3 tattoos about him. Love this video though. :)

  • @Doughtygirl How did he turn on you?

  • @BennyHinny Sorry for responding so late, but i just saw your reply. He played head games, and acted rude to me after i had talked to himseveral times. He doesn't appreciate all of his fans.

  • @Doughtygirl dude I would turn on you too if you got tattoos of me and put my name on your license plate. No offense, but it's just a little too much IMHO.

  • @maximilian333 First of all, I am not a dude, but you are apparently an ass. Second, nobody asked for your IMHO. Before you start spewing crap about my actions, why don't you find out the whole story?! You obviously haven't met a "super fan" of anyone; like a band or team. They consider it flattering when a fan does this. Mike loved my Haughty Melodic tattoo on my arm, & he took a picture of it. He signed right above it, knowing I was getting it inked. The other one is Your Misfortune.

  • @Doughtygirl First of all, I AM a bit of an ass. Second, anyone who appreciates SC has to be worthy of a modicum, if not great, respect. So I won't poke fun at you. Thirdly and most importantly, we do live in a world where "a little too much" is perfectly cool (isn't SC "a little too much" for most people?), so please don't take it too seriously. I still think it's a little much, but if you are a person with SC tattoos then I wouldn't expect any less effort. Rock on.

  • @maximilian333 First of all, I never said anything about SC, except that I never got to see them. I never even heard of them until I first heard Doughty's "Haughty Melodic." Hell, I never even heard of him. If you would have read my comment, there wasn't a thing about a SC tattoo. I'm one of the few fans who doesn't mention SC to Doughty, so yes, I do have respect.

  • @Doughtygirl Fourth of all: Do you play roller derby?

  • @maximilian333 No, I don't; do you?! and what the Hell does that have to do with anything?!

  • I saw them play at SXSW. They were INCREDIBLE.

I met Mike Doughty after the show.

He was a little different to say the least.

But then, I may have been strange to him too.

  • Whence this group?

  • soul coughing

the guy singing is mike doughty

  • Gotta love that old "night shot" mode. I love Doughty.

  • doughty rocks the mike

  • Yeah, he's a bit of an ass as well.

I talked to him a year or so back, All I said was that I liked his new stuff but missed hearing that great upright bass and drum along with him and he freaking snapped.

  • yeah its kinda funny. he seems to think very highly of his solo stuff. i think he was probably so defensive about it because he knows it sucks and he knows he's now over the hill and has completely lost his edge.

  • @BrettHoustonTube hes not a bad guy, i used to live with him after soul coughing broke up, he gave me my first gutair. i still keep in touch with him as well.

  • @BrettHoustonTube Correct. I told him the same thing at his page at facebook. He said: "Dude, leave me alone. You take care of you're life and I take care of mine".

    Ass.

  • @TheThepillows Damn, he's not much for respecting his fans eh? He used the phrase "leave me alone" in his response with me also. Well, the way his solo career is going, he is very much ALONE.

  • @BrettHoustonTube Yeah. But I think he's a good man in the bottom :P. Just a bit, as he said by him self: "Grumpy about the whole soul coughing thing".

  • Comment removed

  • @BrettHoustonTube he doesn't like his past, back the fuck off em man. it doesn't make him an ass. he is very public about everything, including how he feels about these days, and soul coughing.

  • @thetomatoelement

Well, his past is all he has to look forward to these days.....

It makes him as ass when he behaves like an ass. We all have the right to say it, if that has been our experience, so just go "off" yourself Tomato boy if you don't like hearing that reality.

  • @BrettHoustonTube Dude, I know! He hates hearing/talking about anything concerning Soul Coughing. It's sad. I grew up loving Soul Coughing, and his new stuff is only ok. I told him that I often feel nostalgic when I listen to old Soul Coughing on Twitter and he tweeted back all pissed off and high and mighty and shit. Makes me like his solo stuff even less.

  • I first heard this on Howard Stern's show back in the mid-90s. I think that's where a lot of music, both new and old, got a lot of exposure. Like Gary Glitter's "Rock 'n' Roll (Part 2)". Stern used it for a bump for some live commercials, and only then did I start noticing it getting played at sporting events. I think my fellow white males aged 18 to 35 (at that time) working at ESPN and elsewhere were reminded of it by the Stern show.

  • Mike is my friend Sam's buddy from New York. I have a couple of demo discs, and they are still unreleased. He's a trip, ApB

  • I read an interview with Mike Doughty, and he says sometimes his lyrics come from notebooks he keeps while on the road. He patches different phrases together and it ends up being a song.

But his interviews are really different. He's very unique, and I love every song he sings.

  • I write much the same way, a notebook, ( legal or composition ), but I rarely piece random word groupings together. Hmmm, perhaps I'll have to try that sometime. I never met Mike, but I've heard very good things from friends in NY, and LA. Cool style he's got, indeed. Ciao, apb

  • he is amazing. despite how much i'd love to see them play live today, i think it's for the best that they split. artists have phases, doughty's solo work shows that, and sc just wouldn't be the same today.

  • dudes got a pretty good scream.

  • My friend Matt introduced me to Soul Coughing before he died.

    I really like the sound.

  • where o where is he original video--it was here a few months ago!!!! Now it's gone, as far as I can see! Someone: tell me!

  • I was looking for all the videos for Soul Coughing. I cant even find the one for "Circles" now.

  • this is footage from an HBO special called reverb. This is First Ave in Minneapolis. i was at this show and it was da bomb, i think it was the fall of 96. i really like their older hip hop stuff better.

  • fuckin tight, never been anything like Soul Coughing since.

  • Just heard this song the other day on the radio. Awesome song!

  • this is on GT2 as well

  • lol. i never paid attention to the actual lyrics but it was the absolute PERFECT song for GT2. now if only i could find the original music video...

  • Move-a

    and the man go!

    Fucking awesome!

  • This is one of the last bands someone would think I love but they are great, I'm all into like heavy metal, techno etc... But these guys are great. Not many people get them.

  • M. Doughty is the consummate beat poet/emcee/singer/songwriter of the 90's. He also has more groove than he knows what to do with. Hence this amazing track. Go listen to Three Days Grace you philistine.

  • According to Mike Dougherty:

"Pretty much everyone Ive ever met in my life has called up my answering machine upon encountering Rickys dittyand its pretty fucking difficult to consume any kind of media without encountering itand informed me that Ricky Martin "owes" me money. Gee, thanks, pal. Trouble is, my little band doesnt have the money to go up against the armies of lawyers retained by Sony, and perceived righteousness is a secondary consideration to legal charges. "

  • In men.

  • 'Tis true.

  • Get a life.

  • I have more taste than you ever will.

  • Someone asked if this was shot at 1st Ave in Mpls earlier. I'm wondering the same thing. I kind of looks like it when the shot pulls back at the end. Do you know laogong2007?

  • i think i recognize myself in the crowd? maybe madison @ the barrymore theatre?

  • This guy is god.

  • I wish I was ten years younger ten years ago...oh well M.Doughty sighned my back last summer so that is nice.

  • I like Soul Coughing and Mike solo, but they're so different. Wish we could have one more Soul Coughing album.

  • I LOVE HIMMMM <33

  • move aside... dude, wish they'd have some kind of comeback...

  • Mike Doughty still performs, but not with Soul Coughing, hes gone solo.

  • I knew that, but thanks anyways ;) Does he perform Soul Coughing songs, or just the Doughty Stuff... his solo stuff just isn't the same, if you ask me...

  • he does both.

  • Every time I pass through a NY subway station this song flits through my head. "I got to take the elevator to the mezzanine..."

  • This is smokin!!

  • LOL, did Ricardo Martinez know this song existed when he did 'Shake your bon bon'.. probably not.. but then Ricky doesn't write his songs...

  • I have been looking for this 4ever! Thanks!

  • Candy Bar!

    Scream!

    Candy Bar!

    Now Whisper!

    i love it!

  • orbit room gr michigan in 96 great concert.

  • i luv this song

  • what's doughty up to nowadays?

  • That bass riff is straight up gangsta. Well, actually the whole song is.

  • What a freaking amazing band, it sucks that I never got to see them live.

  • toujours dans la place SC !!

    groove for ever !!

  • loving the snare sound all the way through!

  • Man!! this song is in gran turismo 2!!, one of my favorites of Soul Coughing

  • candy bar..candy bar..candy bar..WAIT, Super-Bon-Bon is to be taken literally? I've figured it was just some kind of Acid-Jazz Groove.

  • acid jazz is seriously amazing my friend.

  • *high five

  • ..and it is not dead , it just smells funny! :))

  • rude boy food boy is right that is a weird voice for that person

  • i love this group, its a shame they broke up

hees looks different than i thought he would with that voice

  • Trippy. I like it.

  • jesus christ the rythym section is a beast on their own

  • Does anybody have the video they made for this song? It's just nertz!

  • /watch?v=Gj9xq7Lch00

  • i remember this song was used in an episode of homicide life on the street

  • i wish i knew were to get this in good video

  • beautiful, thanks for posting that.

  • Thanks for the lyrics...I had it totally wrong LOL

  • The little sound-bite remixes he does live remind me of the Soul Coughing days, and especially SuperBonBon.

  • I wish I could have gotten to see them live.. but I would've been like, 10 XP

I love Mike though.. he's a dear. I've seen him solo about six times.

Oh well. I always have my collection of live recordings of Soul Coughing.

  • Where is this recorded at? I saw them ages ago at Orbit Room in Michigan.

  • oh my god really? I wish I'd been a fan back then...

Doughty's the hottest thing in the world, oh my god.

  • What happen to music there were cool things like this coming out and then it all went to shit.

  • No one bought the good stuff. I had the pleasure of seeing Soul Coughing play live on two occasions, and I've never understood why they never took over the world.

  • Yes Sir, I agree......a SUPER TALENT they were. I also had the EXTREME pleasure of seeing them live @ Janis Landing in St. Petersburg, FL. I also believe, that they should have taken the ENTIRE planet by storm. That will remain an eternal mystery :(

  • this song KICKS ASS I'd would have loved to have been able to see them when they were back together

  • Is this from First Ave. in Minneapolis? Looks a lot their concert I saw many moons ago... Great vid.

  • Aaah, the good ol' days. Doughty was so much better back when he was smacked up on heroin. Sad to say, but true.

  • i hate to agree, but i do.. this tour made me fall in love with doughty. the sound the whole band puts out is delicious.

  • what a horrible thing to say!

  • Woot!

You're the hero of my entire life!

  • Cool, thanks for sharing

  • thank you! i was lucky enough to see them live RIGHT before they broke up... Doughty's current "small rock" thing is good in its way, but Soul Coughing was something uniquely beautiful. sigh.

  • thanks for putting this up.. i LOVE this song..
