I agree that a US Passport would've been more believable, but the consequences of getting caught would be MUCH worse, from a propaganda point of view. North Korea would be utterly ashamed if the Dear Leader's son were to pose as an American. I suppose a RoK passport would have been the most believable fake passport, but of course, there would still be propaganda issues. Maybe a fake RoC passport?
