  • What a trainwreck.I remember when Blackmore could play guitar. And he had that cool, smooth tone, not this tin can sound he had in the late 80's.They came back in 84,near sell out tour, and managed to kill thier audience to the point they played half houses the next tour. From extra dates to cancelled shows.Wow, what a fall from grace.

  • steve what?? blackmore is the master

  • people who see deep purple with hughes and coverdale and bolin or satriani don't know deep purple

    deep purple is

gillian blackmore paice lord and glover!

  • Blackmore---- there is no substitute!!

  • is there any fucking live that gillan screams after the" you d better close your eyes" like the studio version?

    EVERYONE WANTS THAT SCREAM!

  • @DonConstantinos Yea' , there is. Find it on YT. Denmark 1972. Video is kinda blue or purple or something like that x).

  • @DonConstantinos Look for Child in Time in Swizerland.

  • check JON LORDs fuckin' sick glasses!

  • PERVERT GLASSES! LOL

  • 5*****!!!! Cупер!

  • Просто теряю сознание от этой песни. Риччи просто чудо!!! Спасибо, avatargy, за роскошный подарок!

  • Great! Fantastic! Thx!

  • Fantastic; I saw them on this tour. Great concert. Purple is and always my favorite rock band off all time. Thanks for posting.

  • this guy shows other singers how its done, even till today!

  • WHY, WHY didn't they film this tour properly. I think it was better than the 'Perfect Strangers' tour. During this tour, Gillan actually managed to hit the highest notes during some nights when they did 'Child In Time'. He never did that in 1984/85, plus the 'House Of Blue Light' songs are amazing Live.

  • Morse, Satriani & Bolin are brilliant, and I love everything they do / did with Deep Purple, but Blackmore will always be the greatest.

  • Agree 100%

  • esta cancion es un himno de todos los que amamos el rock

  • Kein Wunder ohne Blackmore.

  • man... this camera has perfect audio recorder!!! :)

  • Amazing to find this here on the tube. I was there, at the age of 16 lol and it was my first major event - never to be forgotten and I remember it quite well, even after so many years...

Good memories, my then gf didn't like that kind of music and was a bit pissed, cause I told her that "purple are cool" and she agreed to come with me, haha.

She was more into Modern Talking and crap like that, lol.

  • I get goose bumps when I hear The Audience sing along.

  • Why are there no pro-shot footage of this tour? A lot of great songs on 'HOBL' album, that I would love to see live pro-shot.

  • its called gethsemane

  • in which concert is where you can hear a gunshot.you know when a person suicide by hearing this song. please reply

  • Hughes is just a wanna-be deep purple member. Blackmore hated that blues crap that he Coverdale did, and said so many times.

Hughes and Coverdale do not exist in my idea of Deep Purple and never can.

  • That what Hughes and Bolin (not Coverdale) want to include to Purple was FUNK!!! Coverdal in interviews always repeating that he hate this too. He tried making some blues things because it adjust to DP! Hughes WAS terrible vocalist in Purple, but now he's pretty good. Just listen Tony Iommi album "Fused" where he singing.

  • I still would rather hear Gillan or Ronnie James Dio, or even Rod Evans any day rather than Coverdale. His voice annoys me.

Hughes wasnt that bad. But the worst voice ever associated with Purple was the candy ass singing of Joe Lynn Turner. Blechh! that guy sucked big time. At least they never got Graham Bonnet to sing though.

  • I partially agree with you, but Mistreated/Burn/Soldier Of Fortune and some more are masterpiece I wouldn't want to miss in a lifetime!!!

And I love Coverdale with his extremely warm bluesy voice. A shame of his simple love lyrics though.

  • Yes, couldn't agree more. Coverdale has a great blues/rock voice, but his lyrics are too simple often, that's why I never really get into Whitesnake. The MK.III & MK.4 lineups have some great songs I think, particulary 'Soldier Of Fortune', 'Burn', 'Mistreated', 'Stormbringer' and 'Coming Home'. I think. My favourite lineups are MK.I & II, plus the MK.II reunions of course, and Joe Satriani's stint with the band in 1994.

  • damm you have to love ritchie

  • well, I'd say Freddie Mercury was the best singer in pop music. but there are better singers in opera

  • Great reply. You must be a Rocket Scientist.

  • where in vienna was this performance ?

  • jmastersherm the things i would like to say to u i dont think youtube would alow!!!!as kungfuexpert says you are a complete and utter idiot and a absolute joke to any music fan,you havent got a fucking clue what ur on about.and by the way it takes all of a band to make the music not a big headed guitarist, blackmore is stunning but led the band to more problems than any band should have to deal with!!!!!!IDIOT!!!!!

  • Easy there cowboy. You seem to have forgotten Gillan bolting from the band in 89 because he couldn't have his way. I've been a Purple fan longer than you've been alive little boy so save your lecture for someone who gives a shit.

  • I was living in Vienna at that time

  • i was born in Vienna in that year :p

  • Thanks for the propaganda, I'm unable to think for myself so thank you for the Orwellian guidance.

  • Your opinion really makes me vomit. Gillan was one of the greatest (if not greatest) singer in the 70´s and early 80´s. He had a serious throat operation in 1982, that´s why he lost something from his voice since then. You are an idiot.

  • Yes he was one of the greatest singers of his era but hard booze and smokes killed his voice. Read his autobiography where he talks about it.

  • I have his autobiography at home and he doesn't say anything about how he damaged his voice. He only said that he had to take a break before joining Sabbath because of serious throat problems. Of course drinking, smoking weed and so on had some effect on his voice too, because he didn't take care of himself too much at that time. But he is still one of the most fabulous vocalists of all time and a great frontman and I can't imagine anyone on his place...

  • hmmmm Glenn Hughes as singer was and still is better than Gillan.

But Gillan was great in the 70's indeed, no question about it, and the greatest classics of deep purple he sang, but in the 80's he was not even the shadow of what he was in the 70's.

  • jmastersherm1 your just one of the Blackmore's nights idiots

  • Nice reply. Try learning English first.

  • Blackmore again proves Morse is a joke........;)

  • lol Morse is great

    but Blackmore is God =)

  • @thetanman2233

    True and Gillan is Jezus

  • that was a laughable performance by gillan...geez. he skipped the highest ones and the others sounded like he was constipated. and all that echo to cover the bad voice.

  • Hey what do you think of this performance?

    watch?v=a-K038-0tF8

  • Your nick proves you're an idiot and you can't be taken seriously!! If he couldn't sing, he wouldn't be considered one of the greatest and most influential rock singers of all time....

  • I was replying to IanGillanCantSing. I wonder if you're the one....

  • thank´s for this video, the real deep purple. incredible performance.
