what happened was that they were using autoland and the radio altimeter gave wrong reading of -8 feet and so the aircraft thought it had landing so it idled the engines and open reverse thrusters by the time the pilot found it was too late

A pilot who is fully aware and scanning at this phase of flight would have noticed this pretty quickly and there were three pilots on board including a senior trainer. the engines didnt shutdown, they went to idle at 2000 feet (the autopilot thought that the aircraft was on the ground) then they stalled, its a freaking miracle that the pilots didnt notice that...untill it was to late.. a short version of the investigation report was released yesterday. cleary its pilots fault

1) The pilot was in direct contact with the tower requesting landing permission for HALF AND HOUR, the tapes where even released on Turkish TV. But the tower kept refusing to give permission for it to land; the pilot even said we could loose the plane if we carry on like this.

2) Turkish airways have recently shot up to #1 Airline Company. What would happen if "coincidently" one of there planes had crashed?

If that is true, Shiphol air traffic controllers might have made a great mistake by letting the plane land after a short time. Too early to say what caused the crash, as there were no such communications from the cockpit to the ATC/control tower. Could be ground proximity warning system failure as well. It's like finding a needle in a hay stack, but hopefully real cause will be found.

Good report. However, the reporter is not quite correct about the cause of the crash, spaculated from the passengers' stories - "...run out of kerosene." What could be concluded is that the engines have not working properly or stoped just before the crash. Theoretically, there could be a number of reasons for that (including the one mentioned above), e.g., compressor stall, compressor surge, engine control malfunction, contaminated fuel, etc... RIP
