Most people were back then. He was also sexist. There was no political correctness until about the 1970's, long after Lloyd George's death. He may have been racist and sexist by our standards, but his opinions simply reflected the cultural attitudes of the time. I'm not condoning racism, certainly not, but it has to be said, most people were racist back then, not just Lloyd George.
HE WAS INDEED, we girls must never forget he gave women the vote and was also appaulded at the poverty the masses lived in and tried to do something about it.
My Welsh GT Grandfather William Thomas from Trawsfynnydd was a shoe maker and made boots for the young David Lloyd George - and that's my claim to fame !

I sing this all the time to my kids, it drives them mad but I love to do it and annoy both the kids and my husband !
